I had the distinct pleasure of visiting this interactive cultural funhouse, highlighting the Joy / Art / Music of New Orleans. It was truly a love letter to the city, full of colorful, unique, and creative art exhibitions, all made out of recycled materials (which I found to be impressive and admirable)! There was a curated playlist of amazing jazz music playing throughout, which really set the tone delightfully! Upon entering, guests are welcomed into the space and there was a personable and helpful guide who described the space, then led us into the opening rooms. The first one was blue with neon pink, green, and glowing, with letters, symbols, and TV screens, comprising of one big puzzle. The next is a long hallway of hot pink with blue detailing and lights throughout, along with cool protruding, spongy shapes representing organs on the walls. Very psychedelic vibes! This led into a large space with sculptures of a larger than life alligator mouth open wide, creature atop a huge pot with the words "Stir the Pot," crawfish, tall lily pads, insect jazz band, peacock and more. There was also a cool, pretty flower wall, and upon closer inspection, I discovered they were made out of records. From there, I headed upstairs to see the blue, purple, and pink room holding the gorgeous Fountain of Youth glowing bright blue, filled with gold coins in them for wishes. The ceiling was lush and leafy with a lovely hanging light, as well as a pearly oyster shell inspired one. In addition, there was a shotgun style house with a balcony we could go in. Back downstairs, I explored a bar neon colored words related to New Orleans all over the walls, with upside down piano & drinks. Next, I checked out a decorative white a black room, featuring a glowing green stand. With the press of a button, it turned the room disco-y blue with a glow in the dark effect. After that, I went into the beautiful Desire themed room with humongous pearl structures hanging down, where you can write and release your true desires. Such a dreamy, ethereal feel to this one! There was a little sleek and sexy speakeasy space, called Candlelight Lounge. Then was one of my favorite exhibits: Feast Mode, displaying glittery New Orleans culinary delight classics in true indulgent style, as well as super funky, fun paintings and art pieces. Near this room was a window with full of shiny, delicately constructed objects of vibrant colors representing New Orleans. This was a glitzy video opp with props offered, with the phone going in the center, spinning around and capturing us dancing, shimmying, or whatever suits your fancy! The remaining few installations were music themed with drums and large silver circles, which could be played, emitting different sounds to create a symphony of song. At the end, there was a room showcasing larger than life sculptures of heads of musical greats, including Louis Armstrong, Lil Wayne, and Big Freedia. I really enjoyed my time here. Staff were super welcoming, accommodating, and helpful with photos throughout. The artistry, detail, and care was visible throughout each and every art piece and room. JAMNOLA was such a fun experience and I recommend you check it out for yourself! read more

I took my 12 year old daughter to JAMNOLA and we had a blast. Every room was something different, super colorful, interactive, and just fun. She was excited the whole time, and honestly so was I. It's one of those places where you can actually enjoy it as an adult and still let your kid have their moment too. We definitely got some really cute pictures, so if you're into that, you're going to love it. It's very "stop, pose, next room, do it again" in the best way. It's not a super long experience, but it's worth it. I'd say give yourself about an hour, maybe a little longer if you're taking your time with photos. Only tip is try to go when it's not too crowded, because some people really turn it into a full photoshoot and you'll be waiting a little. Overall, I'd definitely recommend it, especially if you have kids or just want something different to do in the city. read more

What a fun place, full of insta worthy photo ops, colorful art, and New Orleans soul. This place is packed full of fun interactive activities as well as New Orleans history (Black masking Indians, jazz legends, music and juke/jazz joints. You can touch most of the art unless there is a sign specifying otherwise. The price is maybe a little steep, we paid something like 35 dollars per ticket, but I think it's worth it. The best part here is the people! Everyone is so invested in the community and making sure everyone has a good time! They were jubilant while sharing their love of New Orleans, from restaurants to jazz places to shows and holes in the wall. You feel true New Orleans hospitality here. In the Marigny/Bywater area you are close to some great dining options, Baldwin & Co. bookstore (reviewed separately), as well as the Allways Lounge (also reviewed separately). I went here with my nephew and my mom and we had a blast! I think the best way to describe the show is "Meow Wolf with a NOLA twist" - it has the cool lighting, the interactivity and the perfect amount of weird to keep you entertained the whole time. The various exhibits are colorful and creative, and each one has a unique backstory that ties to New Orleans history/culture. The best part is that most of the exhibits are touchable, which is great for 3-almost-4-year-olds who like to touch everything haha. 10/10! After being disappointed by another activity the day prior, I came to JamNola wary of what it would have to offer and if I'd be worth it. My sister and I arrived around 1PM with a small group already there so we joined that group for the mini tour/introduction to JamNola. I'm not even going to give a detailed review because honestly this should be a stop everyone needs to experience for themselves when visiting NO! JamNola was such a fun, immersive experience! I enjoyed myself from beginning to end. JN has so many great picture moments, there's two levels of enjoyable art and there's a room that delves into the history of Mardi Gras Indians which was so interesting. I knew JamNOLA did its job when I left feeling proud to be born in New Orleans. The price for the whole experience was worth it to me and I have to shout out the staff!!!! The staff from the time we entered to the time we left was so sweet, knowledgeable, made the tour fun and seem like they genuinely enjoyed their jobs, it heightened the experience for sure!!! Visited during a girls' trip after spotting it on the Time Out website. We grabbed our tickets on Groupon and had such a cute, fun experience. It's a great way to spend an hour or two...learning a bit of New Orleans history while taking advantage of their adorable photo opportunities. It's also located directly across the street from the legendary Loretta's Authentic Pralines...home of (in my opinion) the best beignets in New Orleans...so you can easily treat yourself afterward. A must visit if you in New Orleans. All ages can have fun and learn so much about the arts and music. So many hands on activities. We were greeted by a man who was so excited to tell us everything. This was our 2nd time visiting JamNola but the first time on Frenchmen Street. Easy online Booking! Check out Groupon as they usually have deals. A great place for selfies and interactive rooms all revolving around New Orleans culture and history. Would not be ideal for anyone with sensory issues. Staff were all friendly. They guide you on part of the tour and then you check out everything at your speed. Definitely a fun family outing. I came here off of a recommendation from my boyfriend's mom. He and I booked an earlier time at 11 AM. This turned out to be a great decision because as the day wore on, the museum got much busier. Staff were so incredibly friendly and very engaging with the guests! All of the art was interactive, bright, and so colorful. I absolutely loved my experience at JAMNOLA! The staff was very kind and informative to me even when I was there as a solo visitor. They didn't rush my exploration which I really appreciated. From looking at the outside, you'd think that the museum would be small... boy is that assumption totally wrong! When I went inside, everything was so spacey and detailed. From facts to medium designs, I can tell the creators of this place put a lot of work and effort into it. It was a fun and creative way of learning about the history and impact of jazz music in New Orleans. As for parking, it's only street parking but there are a lot of spaces available around the area. Overall, I really loved my experience here at JAMNOLA and would recommend people visiting at least once in their lives if they're visiting the area. read more

This place was really fun! It's a bit far away from the main area if you don't have a car. But if it's nice weather, it's a nice walk from the French market. They just changed locations and at the new location they have all new art set up. All the art is recycled so it's super creative and unique. The workers here are super nice and knowledgeable. They to you around individually and small groups. Definitely a great spot to go if you're looking to have a lot of photo opportunities! We took my mother here for Mother's Day weekend, she had a blast! Definitely a great way to connect and bond with your family of all ages! You go through an adventure around every corner something new a lot of small details to look for is little QR codes throughout to explain each exhibit it's a good time. I truly enjoyed the new JAM Nola experience. I have been to the other location before and was interested to see the new changes and it did not disappoint. I saw that they now offer a 3D experience which was really cool. Some of my favorite parts of the tour were the music rooms where you can play tracks from local artists based on genres and different music halls in the city. The 3D art along the walls were also so creative and a special dedication to the culture of New Orleans. The food room was also very cute as I am a local foodie. But my favorite part was the quilted blanket piece that had a centerpiece that spun around and recorded you on your phone as you danced with props. Such a creative idea. This is an experience I would recommend to anyone whether you are a local or visiting New Orleans. read more

I was intrigued and decided to go and so glad I did!! I went solo but I definitely could see attending with a large group/party adults and kids alike. The staff were so attentive I learned so much about NOLA. I do wish I could remember everyone's name, but needless to say they were all helpful and volunteered to help taking photos and videos to help make the most of the experience! They do have a gift shop at the end with all sorts of cool/unique items that I couldn't resist! I spent about an 1.5 hours there and then stopped at Loretta's across the way, which was recommended by the team - delicious stop before heading the airport. A Soul Filling Day of Magic at JAMNOLA.... (A first timers visit) My family and friends just visited JAMNOLA for my birthday, and I truly cannot find the words for this incredible experience. From the very first second, the staff greeted me like royalty. I treated myself to the birthday swag package, and it was so worth it--I wore my jeweled tiara and sash with pride all day! They also shared the beautiful local tradition of pinning cash on the birthday person, which was such a special, authentic touch that I'll never forget (in fact I wore the tiara and sash all the rest of the day in NOLA)! Our guided tour was absolutely breathtaking. It's not just a "museum"--it's a journey through the heart of New Orleans (JOY - ART - MUSIC). Every room is an explosion of color and imagination that perfectly captures the city's spirit. It felt like I was living in a literal Dr. Seuss or Alice in Wonderland story! I was also impressed to learn about the sustainability of many of the exhibits - using recycled and repurposed materials - if you really look closely you can identify some of the materials. For instance, the glowing underwater garden wall, that is really melted vintage albums, warped and formed into layers of flowers. A few of my favorite "pinch-me" moments: Bling Bayou: Walking through the body of a larger than life alligator was pure childhood wonder. Garden of Legends: Seeing the "big heads" of music legends like Lil Wayne and Irma Thomas made us feel connected to NOLA's music history. Musical Micro-Bars: I loved entering the tiny little bars where you could choose your own adventure with the click of a switch and get lost in local sounds. The Upside Down Room: Such a fun, whimsical experience that had me smiling the whole time. Make sure to get some fun videos right side up and upside down! The Spirit of the City: One of the most moving parts was learning about the indigenous people and the native culture of New Orleans. Seeing the intricate, hand-sewn costumes was a powerful experience that gave me such a deep respect for the artistry of the local culture. I left JAMNOLA feeling so much joy and a deeper love for this city. I honestly could have stayed in that magical world ALL DAY!!! If you want an incredible experience that fills your heart and sparks your imagination, definitely visit JAMNOLA!! We visited Jamnola on a Saturday around 4pm! We were able to get street parking close by. We were walk-in but you can also pre purchase tickets online. There was a lively gentleman outside that welcomed us in. Once inside we were told we had to purchase tickets online. The tours are done in time slots. We had a small wait of about 10 minutes. Our group had about 15 people from different areas ( Jackson, Ms, San Francisco, CA, Pittsburgh, PA, etc). Our tour guide Ro was a lively New Orleanian. My second time to JAMNOLA but first visit to their new Frenchman location . My friend, who was visiting for the first time, thoroughly enjoyed herself and is already planning to return with her grandkids over the weekend to take advantage of their October special deal. One Kids Combo. Children ages 3-13 can enjoy admission to both JAMNOLA and the Louisiana Children's Museum on any Sunday in October for $22.99! I appreciate that they offer 50% off for locals on weekdays, allowing locals to enjoy the immersive art, music experience, and history of New Orleans from many local artists. Upon arrival, we were greeted by the staff, who took us to the first room and explained the concept of what we would see, hear, and feel throughout our adventure. QR codes are strategically placed throughout, providing additional information with just a tap of your phone. Every corner is "Instagram-worthy" . My friend and I took turns capturing photos, and occasionally, a staff member would kindly offer to take our picture. The highlight of our visit was when the staff assisted us in creating a unique video experience using a spinning float. To exit, we had the option to press a button and exit in style to either bounce music by Big Freedia or a Jazz funeral procession. Booked this experience on a whim and so glad we did! You need a reservation time and you have to book it online (if you walk in, you'll need to book your reservations on your phone right there in front of them). But, it's super quick and easy and is definitely worth the price. The tour starts guided for the first 3 rooms (and our guide was seriously so friendly and informative) then they release you to wander at your own pace through the rest of the rooms. Every room is themed and has some truly remarkable art. Every inch of this place is photogenic and, because they limit the number of tickets sold in each time block, you won't have to worry about a bunch of strangers in the background of all your pics. If you're looking for something memorable, quick, and representative of the New Orleans art scene, don't skip Jamnola! read more

The advertisement for Jamnola happened to come on my IG feed on my recent trip to NOLA. I was intrigued so I purchased a ticket for a Sunday afternoon. The museum is self guided and interactive. They allow an hour for each appointment. This is a great place for content creators. However, it can be frustrating for people who visit that want to generally look and read about the art by scanning the QR codes. People spent a lot of time taking personal pictures. I found myself having to go around them. My group also ran into the group before us so it became quite crowded. In any event, I saw some great art and learned a bit more about New Orleans culture. The museum was $36 (total) for an adult. For that price, I would have preferred a guided tour with an allotted time for pictures. The current location is close to Studio Be, which is a great art gallery. I would combine the two if planning a visit. read more

Got there to purchase a ticket but they definitely were not finished, but were full open. I did enjoy hearing the stories of NOLA and the origin of practices that happen here, but it is a very quick experience. I wish I could have gotten a full experience as it felt rushed as some of the exhibits were only set up temporarily and some were still being built. The one thing, I will say, you will have to drive or get an Uber because it is kinda of out of the main hustle and bustle.
