My son has been here for a while now and had to provide an update. Since he started they have begun to use an app for some stuff like payments and to communicate some announcements. I really like that aspect but I feel the app has so much more potential perhaps with time they will use it more. The center has also recently done sone remodeling like updating the flooring. My son I can tell likes his teachers a lot and they seem like they genuinely care about him and all the other children. I really like that they share pictures of some of the activities they do with the kids. I look forward to those pictures and getting the Picasso art pieces. I'd recommend this daycare to anyone looking for a safe, caring and learning environment for their kids. read more

Jan Peterson Child Development Center (JPCDC) is a high-quality, exceptional education center. When we moved to Moreno Valley, I had toured many preschools. Only one met/exceeded my expectations as a California credentialed teacher and former elementary teacher myself. The facility is clean, modern, well-lit, secure, and was regularly disinfected. The office staff, teachers, and chef are kind and caring. My child learned so much each day that it was noticeable each afternoon at pickup. It was my daughter's first year of preschool/daycare (age 3 and turned 4 before leaving). She learned the alphabet, phonemic awareness, number sense, how to write her name, science, social studies, history, art, performing arts, fine & gross motor skills, emotional development, potty training, socialization skills, communication skills, how to advocate for herself... the list goes on. The student to teacher ratio is about 6:1 compared to most preschools that are 12:1. The lower student to teacher ratio means more care, instruction, safety, and success. My daughter started the school year as a picky eater and left 8 months later eating a large variety of food. She loved Chef's food but even more, she looked forward to seeing cheerful, thoughtful, and kind Chef every day. He was one of my daughter's favorite staff members. An additional aspect I appreciated at JPCDC was the way they place students in classes. My child started in the 2-3 year old class because she was 3 at the time of enrollment but wasn't fully potty trained. After she was fully potty trained and needed a more challenging curriculum, I was asked by the office staff and teachers if I would agree to moving her up to the 3-4 year old class. The school was thoughtful about a healthy balance of comfort and challenge. The teachers are friendly, positive, supportive, and truly care about ALL the students at the school. Even teachers from other classes all knew my daughter's name and would greet her daily. We felt welcomed in our new community. When my daughter had separation anxiety, the teachers comforted her and directed her attention to positive learning experiences. Both my daughter and I miss her teachers from the Puffer Class and Sea Otter Class. I would have loved to keep my child enrolled at JPCDC if we hadn't move over 80 miles away. I highly recommend Jan Peterson Child Development Center for all families looking for child care/preschool from infancy to kindergarten age in the Moreno Valley area. Even if JPCDC isn't the closest preschool to your home, it is certainly worth the drive. read more

Fully prepared for the "owners" to provide some excuse/ defensive explanation to belittle my comment. SO, I will not say too much except, the owners should spend a month overseeing the current staff and practices in person as opposed to their month-end report of earnings made off parents who can barely afford this place. Also noticed a much higher turnover rate since bringing my children here. However, all of the horrible yelp reviews (aside from my own) speak for themselves. My oldest son has been at Jan Peterson since he was 10 weeks old and now he is five. My younger son also attends JP now as well, attending since he was a baby. The teachers are very caring for my children and real make them feel special. As a parent it is comforting leaving my children in a place where I feel like their teachers and staff really like them and like children. They've learned so much attending JP and play well with other children. The administrative staff and director are very reliable and love children....really try to work with parents when issues arise and help children thrive. read more

My son has been attending this school since he was just a couple months old and now he is 2! He has been in 3 classrooms during his time and so far I haven't had many issues. I wasn't a big fan of one of the teachers in his infant classroom who I felt lacked some compassion but currently I love his teachers. I get pictures from them weekly if not almost daily. My son has a lot of friends and there's a few teachers that go above and beyond for my son and Im so grateful for them. Would recommend this facility to others! read more

I was not going to review this center because of the 10 years I spent sending children there. The new administration is awful. They only have profit in mind, they are full of gossip and bias. The act like guidelines are a bother and children should be crammed like animals into a classroom. I would not recommend taking your children here. Just this morning I expressed a problem I had on social media and instead of the administration talking to me about it Jeanne decided to attack my parenting. I absolutely love this facility! Not only does the JPCD staff foster education, but personal development and self esteem within the child! The staff always keeps clear communication with the families! The center is clean, the learning environment is conducive to growth. They also have a culinary chef, which introduces the children to amazing dishes. I have two children that attend JPCD and this fall will be their third enrollment. Both of my kids attended Jan Peterson from infant to toddler. My son started at 3 months old my daughter at 5 months. All of teachers we had were wonderful my kids learned so much going there. We were sad to have to leave but we moved and tried to continue there for a few months but we just couldn't do it any longer with the drive or we would still be attending. Cons: My daughter HATED it! I had to drag her in kicking and screaming every time! The teachers in the Sea Otter rarely greeted me or my daughter. And they were very dismissive about how difficult a time my daughter was having with this adjustment. By the way, my daughter typically enjoys preschool and "time away where she can play". I don't like that there is an older man who is janitorial and helps with service issues- casually walks around the site. Lastly, the classroom always smells like pee. Pros: They cook hot meals for the children and the director here is relatively accommodating. The center is nicely decorated and the center has the set up to be amazing. They need to get rid of some of the staff. They are not empathetic and seemingly not a good fit to work with young children. All the children appear somber and programmed. I couldn't leave my daughter there another day. I would feel like less than a mom. :( read more

I can only speak good things about this child development center. This center was open during the peak of the pandemic and continued to provide childcare for the many parents that are essential workers. My family really appreciates all of the staff there for taking the time to educate my children on fine motor skills and different languages and so many other things that excite them. I also like that they provide progress updates with the progress of our child's learning and what she can work on. My son went through this development center and my daughter is currently enrolled. This childcare is amazing for all 3 of my children. They do so many activities, crafts, school events. They are constantly learning new things. They provide healthy food all day. This review had nothing to with tution over due . Paid the last balance never was issue , I was out with coronavirus and kept my child home due to him being exposed . That's why the bill wasn't paid on time . They're were time where your staff Jeanine had mistakes on my bill .Except there were issues in my bill yet again . I've kept my son home due to him having a cold or being sick but for some reason he can never get better .The picture of the jeans is a picture one of your staff provided and as anyone can see he peed himself . I have several pictures of him with a runny nose that your staff also have sent to me. I will post every single picture I have of him with a runny nose . Give y'all a break ???? I pay 780 a month atleast you can do is make sure my son isn't pissy of has a nose full of snot. My son has a dairy allergy which everyone in the office is aware off and for snack time my son had cup of cheese cubes . Now tell me why you are giving my child cheese and he can't have dairy anyone with common sense can tell you that cheese is dairy it's in the 4 basic food groups . If you check there Instagram jpdcpuffers every kid on that Instagram page has a runny nose yet again . I take pictures of my son every morning and he never has a runny nose or looks the way he look. We love bringing our daughter here! When we moved here from Texas Ms. V was super helpful with our transition and the staff is really great! Seriously Ms. V is amazing! And so is her daughter! I love that they always keep me updated about our daughter! They have definitely welcomed our daughter with open arms and she absolutely loves this place and her teachers! Especially Ms. Karen! Our daughter even loves the chef at this school. She loves saying "good morning chef" everyday when I drop her off! Our daughter has even learned so much being here! She loves coming home and going over things she learned at daycare! We were very picky about where we would send our daughter and this facility definitely eased our concerns! My daughter went here for weeks and each day it was horrible getting her from the car to the preschool. I am a public school teacher and I feel that I am more welcoming and caring to my older elementary students than the preschool teachers were here. No one really went out of their way when she was having a very hard time adjusting. No friendly welcomes nor goodbyes. They hardly acknowledged her in my presence so I can only imagine when I wasn't around. Preschool teachers should be warm and go out of their way to comfort children who are having a hard time transitioning. I felt so sad leaving her but I knew she was in a safe place so that gave me peace. The schedules, activities and meals seemed good and appropriate but I pulled my child out of there when she became a COMPLETELY different child going there :( I really feel that the teachers here, at least in my child's classroom, could've been more inviting and caring to these precious two and three year olds!!!!! read more

My 11 month old has been enrolled at Jan Peterson for a few weeks now. I am very pleased! My son has gone from crying and holding my leg when I drop him off to clapping and waving goodbye when I leave him. When I see some of the older kids coming to Jan Peterson in the morning, they are running into the doors excited to get into the classroom. The environment is clean, renovated, and inviting. They provide the kids with hot meals and have a lot of programing. My son has already participated in grandparents day and is scheduled to have a dental exam while at Jan Peterson. I've checked out all of the alternative child care centers in the area, and for me and my family Jan Peterson was the best choice. Pricing is competitive, the center is extremely organized, and I would recommend Jan Peterson to any of my friends and family. read more

My son attended this school. The teacher staff didn't get along with one another and it reflected in their work. They're not attentive to the kids, and when I walked in the class room it smelled like pee. My son was treated like an outsider. I later on found out that they weren't gonna allow my son to attend the school anymore due to me addressing the issues that I seen. While in the grocery store a teacher who no longer worked their told me that several African Americans has experienced What me and my son did, and it was due to the head person Pat not liking African Americans. I contacted her boss and they could never tell me why my son was not allowed back. I never was late on my payments and I was never late picking up, or dropping of my kid. read more

I do not like to write negative reviews but I believe that this is something parents should be aware of when enrolling their children at this child development center. When I enrolled my son to this center I believed that I was doing the best for him. The center is a beautiful child development center that has high security with cámaras in all classrooms yet I feel that the care provided by the staff to my son and I was far below anyone's expectations! There was one staff there which i know for a fact tried to give us the best service but it was the attitude of the other teachers and the careless behavior they showed towards the children. I myself, work with children and I was very unsatisfied with the lack of interest the teachers showed for my two year old son. The last day I took him and didn't even leave him there was because having four staff on the playground not one came to my son when he was crying. I don't ask for catering or babying him but to show him confort as he was experiencing separation anxiety. I watch him cry for three minutes while all the teachers sat far just talking. None of them came to comfort him or encourage him to go play. I can't imagine what other situations my son had encountered. So please parents if you do consider this child care please make sure you research and be able to observe what is going on before enrolling you child . read more

I am writing this review simply because I don't want any other parents to go through this. I didn't read or look into yelp reviews and ratings regarding this school and that is my fault but this school has low ratings for a reason my 3 year old son and four year old daughter recently stopped going here, they were only here for 2-3 months when I overheard my son tell my daughter his teacher ms Brenda hit his hand and said lay down. Long story short after watching the videos there is a small blind spot as when this could have happened. My daughter is very good with her words and atelling full stories where as my son still struggles so I was not sure. Shortly after my daughter let me know she saw ms Brenda push my son outside on his side of the playground. It was the final straw the thought of my three year old getting picked on by an adult infuriates me. I am going to say nothing else as I continue to look into this matter but I have since taken my children out, Jan Peterson is fully aware of the situation and after talking to two other mothers that went there I am sure I made the right decision by taking my kids out. Toured this daycare and for the ridiculous amount of money you pay it's not worth it. When I came in the place smelled of urine. The reception area was somewhat inviting but the classrooms looked dull and bare and cluttered. Minimal decor of children's arts and crafts they had done. Teachers looked tired and were not really interacting with the children when I came in at around 4:30. Minimal manipulatives and inviting toys for the kids. So not worth the price! And they charge you a ridiculous registration fee! read more

Our son has been going to Jan Peterson for two years and we love it! We like that all the classrooms are clean and organized. We appreciate that the management is always willing to work with our schedule and understand our needs. We like that kids have routines since early age and they don't watch television but have activities instead. Another fact we like is that parents can come in any time using their own code. That gives us more confidence that we can come and check on our little ones unannounced. We must say there are some teachers more dedicated and friendly than others but I know that is a factor everywhere you go. We definitely recommend Jan Peterson. Dolphins, Sea Otters, Sea monsters Is what this place should name their classrooms. My daughter has been taken out of this preschool for 4 months after continuous break downs. She is usually a well behaved child when after the first day she refused to go back. I thought it was a phase and she would grow out of it.. But they have cameras to watch.. Oh I watched.., children hiding in corners crying, teachers hanging out talking about their weekend plans, conflicting lunch schedules.. The children are sitting their fighting, crying, spitting, doing everything but learn any good behavior. Please don't send your children to this school. These teachers only sit them down to trace but they don't show them how to hold a pencil correctly or how to play together. I'm really disappointed in this school. I like the staff, very friendly but kept making me feel uncomfortable when I wanted to stay. They would tell me to go away.. Now I know why.. They felt uneasy being watched. read more

I do not actually send my child here but I did go for a visit yesterday after reading the reviews on here. The lady who let me in was very pleasant and helpful with answering questions....however the first thing I saw before even walking into the place was a young girl, maybe 3 yrs old, with a face full of crusty snot...clearly she had a runny nose and was NOT sent home, clearly her face was NOT cleaned by ANYONE there and she was picked up by her parent looking like that! I would be pissed if that was my child, especially for the price tag associated with sending your child here! Second thing I noticed doing the walk thru for the preschool classrooms was toys that have clearly not been sanitized or cleaned for a very long time! They do tidy up & have cool crafts and things they do, but the lack of cleanliness of the toys that these young children interact with was disturbing. No wonder kids get sick here, like one of the other reviews stated....under the "Not Recommended" section. Thirdly, when I went to see the outside play area all the aids were sitting together off to the side where you first exit the door. They were not playing with the children or engaging them, just chatting amongst themselves. They did all say hello and seemed polite. One child started to cry and one of the aids or teachers, not sure what they were, went to check on the little boy, but then another was crying and the other three aids didn't even bother to go see what the problem was. Instead, the women who was giving me a tour had to go check it out. I'm sorry, but what is the job of those aids if not to watch these children????? Finally one aid started to play with bubbles and the kids were very excited about that, just couldn't help but wonder if that was for a guests benefit. Could just be me being overly aware at this point. Finally I sat down on one of their WOOD picnic tables to dust off my sons feet and got the BIGGEST splinter in my hand!!!! What preschool has untreated WOOD tables where little people and anyone can get gouged with a giant splinter???? This place does! SMDH! Needless to say, despite how friendly the lady was showing me around, I will NOT be bringing my child to this place! read more

Recently had to begin taking our 6 month old son to daycare so I could return to work, I was very apprehensive and cried like a baby the first day I left him. As I cried I was comforted, hugged, and reassured by every teacher in the class. That made me feel better, but of course still was more concerned that my son was going to be happy. I am still breast feeding so my husband and I loved the fact that I would still be able to come in and breast feed ( I work relatively close). Every time I've entered the classroom to feed him, pick him up for the day, or visit my son looks happy and is either playing with teachers, being read to, or happily babbling with the other babies. Seeing this warms my heart every time and makes this mama happy to see my boy happy. Seeing this also makes my husband and I feel we made the right choice to bring our boy here. The teachers are also very respectful of my wishes- how to feed, when to feed, what to feed, what my son likes/dislikes. I feel that next to me and my husband they are providing the best care possible for our boy. One of my favorite aspects of JPCDC is the organization and meticulous processes in place that allow for everyone to be on the same page and for the best care to be provided to your child. You can clearly see times marked for feedings and changes, the daily written report ( you get a copy everyday) of how your child was, what they did, what they need, and the locked perimeter (requiring codes to access) assures your child is safe. I have never noted any areas to be dirty or children to be dirty; as a matter of fact when I went in the other day staff was cleaning EVERYTHING- the classroom looked great! Prices are also very competitive, like the fact they want payment every two weeks vs. once per month, makes this a little easier for myself to manage. Jan Peterson Child Development Center has turned this guilt ridden mama into one content mama. I look forward to our boy growing up with Jan Peterson Child Development center and would recommend to friends and family. read more

I am not sure what any negative comments are about but I can say that our twins attended Jan Peterson when they were in diapers to kindergarten. At no time did we ever feel their care was less than stellar. We got to know all the staff on a first named basis including the director Miss Pat. Our twins were so well taught by miss Pamela in kindergarten that they were able to test into first grade at public school. They are now GATE identified and still go back to the school to say hello to their old teachers. I'm sure there are kids crying and misbehaving in videos. When you have a large group of kids together that's what you get but these teachers dedicate their life and time to these kids and it reflects in the way these kids flourish and blossom. My twins are 9 now and still ask to go back to say hello to their teachers. That shows a lot for what an impact this place made upon them and now they are skipped a grade and GATE students. Thanks to Jan Peterson for helping in their formative years to give them this foundation. On top of the great staff and teachers this place is FUN! They have a fall festival with games and prizes and lots of activities for the kids. They have a cake contest and my husband and I won first place one year and free tuition. It's a lot of fun for the kids to go visit the grandma's and grandpa's at the senior center.... What a great concept. Don't let one or two disgruntled reviews stop you from going to this amazing place. Our family gives Jan Peterson one hundred percent recommendation and my husband is a teacher. My daughter has been attending Jan Peterson since August and really likes it. She was in a home daycare to start with and I felt that she was not getting the quality attention to advance her development. She now comes home with age appropriate activities that engage her throughout the day. She has expanded her academics in the alphabet and counting and I am very pleased to see her exceling. She loves her teacher and will tell me she misses her on the weekends when she is home. I am very pleased with how they have handled situations with other children and also with mine. Our 4yr old daughter has been attending Jan Peterson since the age of 1. Our 17month twins have also now been there for about 1yr. The hours are great for working parents (6am - 6:30pm) and they're very flexible in working with our odd schedules. They keep the curriculum fresh with frequent visits and events (dance, soccer, fire department, Festivals, etc...). They have surveillance cameras and video to review the days events. Overall I trust the staff with my little ones while I'm out to work. read more
