After decades of martial arts practice, including 8 years of hard core Brazilian Ju Jitsu, my 70 year old body has needed lots of physical therapy for many hurting joints and strains. Recently plagued with a very tight right side QL muscle in my back, I went to several therapists who tried various leg exercises and spinal manipulations which only worsened the condition. During the first two minutes with Dr. Mullin she got to the source of the issue, with my hip alignment being 1 inch out. Neither of the previous DPT's had even checked this. Her recommendations were spot on and helped me get back onto the water, sculling again. Thank you Dr. Mullin.

My PT, Logan Marshall, was cheerful, very knowledgeable, and created a treatment plan to specifically work with my EDS. The office is great with communication and even accepts insurance! The energy is warm and low key and both the therapists and assistants are so helpful, encouraging and professional. I feel lucky they are here in Morro Bay as I live here, but if they weren't I would drive to where they were. Rehabbing is hard enough as it is. Rehabilitation is hard enough as it is. From the nurses and occupational therapists to the physical therapists, aides, and custodial staff...everyone was so friendly and positive. When she arrived she was limited to lying in bed and using a bed pan. The OT and PT did not let that stop them. From the first day their goal was getting her back to her life at home. They were supportive, encouraging, and pushed just enough to keep her progress always moving forward without pushing her too hard or making her feel discouraged. The facility is clean (due to the constant diligent work of the custodial staff) and truly feels more like a home than a hospital. My mother was able to sit out in the "Living Area" and interact with other residents and nurses. Every room has a window and exterior door with natural light and a view of the outside. This was important for my mom. The food was good and residents have an option from a daily menu so they can make choices for themselves of what they can eat. The Physical Therapy room was well equipped and large enough to accommodate multiple people. After my mom's hip surgery I was so worried about leaving her in an unknown facility with strangers and nothing but time to kill while her hip healed. After the first few days she was so upbeat when I visited and had nothing but positive reviews of all of the nurses and staff that I felt so thankful and appreciative of these amazing human beings who were caring for my mom. A few shout-outs to Raquel, Nellie, Cree, Vonique, Laura (PT), Louise (OT), and others whose names I can't recall but their care of my mom was no less! I cannot say enough great things about San Luis Transitional Care. There is not a thing I can criticize. Every person who dealt with my mom the last 8 weeks is an angel in my book. Hospital beds are notoriously uncomfortable. All the rooms are semi-private with jack-and-jill bathrooms. You have your own tv. There is free WiFi. The PT, OC, ST are excellent. I had sessions each day and they sent my assessment to my Doctor allowing me to get a "jump" on therapy. As for air conditioning, when the temperature was 107 outside it was cool and comfortable. Hygiene/cleaning is done several times per day (mopping, bathroom, trash).

This place really failed me. They helped and for that I'm appreciative but it was being discharged…read morewhere they showed their true colors. I asked "when am I getting discharged" because everyone around me was, and everyday it was something new. They never asked just assumed that did decisions based on stupidity. I don't know how asking equates that i want to be discharged. I mean getting woken up by a needle drawing blood at 7am is not ideal especially after a stroke. They can explain things. I got discharged with the promise of help and to go somewhere afterwards. That's when the hell really happened. I received no help, fought to go elsewhere, I even got dropped once by a nurse, but even then the nurses would make you feel bad talking about "I have to do so much paperwork", there were some cool nurses but there was some who constantly talked about their issues like get some help and therapy. Upon getting discharged I was lied, left in the dark, let down by this system and hospital. I can forgive for my sanity but I'll never forget. I'm beyond angry at this place, I'm hurt & talking about my treatment here I not only let it out, but I warn others and hope that things place changes and stops lying to their patients and their families.
