My mother was at French Hospital (4 days), followed by a stay at the Mission View skilled nursing facility (3 weeks). We asked Alan to come to the home to evaluate the environment, make suggestions about improvements, and give us expert information about what other services may be available to us and services which might benefit us. Based on Alan's understanding of the local offerings, he was able to point us in the right direction and offer his personal follow-up. His experience and expertise were EXACTLY what we needed to bring our mother home and continue her care as well as improve the living conditions for our brother. We were so impressed with Alan's expertise and compassion - my sister wrote a recommendation to the social workers at French Hospital to be sure to include Alan's business as a resource for those in our situation. He fills a HUGE gap in the adventure of taking great care of elderly, or invalid relatives. Thanks to Alan - we will be able to care for our mother at home, rather than warehousing her in a nursing facility. Thank you Alan! :)

We almost lost him :( But he pulled through and did his rehab here. When visiting him I noticed what a nice facility Arroy Grande is.... hardwood floor, everything clean, facility look very new. The nurse are all very nice, actually I even joked to my dad that how pretty all the nurses where. He laughed and agreed. I visited on a Sunday with in that time the nurse came in at least 4-5 times, either to give him medication, take his order for lunch, explain to him and us how his monday rehab day will start. They creat alot of interation with the patients. They are even encouraged to go eat in the cafetieria to have their lunch or dinner. I only want the best for my father so my ears where up and I was watching how this place ran. Every thing seemed great. They all seamed clean, organized, Well trained and treated not only my dad but the other patients with respect but with direction. This was key ! So many times you hear of rehab places that are just aweful... but I think very highly of Arroyo Grande Hospital Rehabilitation Center. I would highly recommend any friend or family member to have their rehab here. Thank you staff for taking good care of my father ! :)

As a nurse, I see how their methods help connect the dots for children, teens and even adults.  So…read moremuch has evolved in neuroscience and what we now know about brain development and the ability to make new mental connections in the brain. Up until recently, we didn't know the brain could lack development in the pathways, which are like roadblocks. And our children developed around those roadblocks. However, science proves we can go back and repair the undeveloped neuro-pathways at any age. I was referred here by a family member who shared about Brain Boost Academy's unique innovative methods which help people who lack certain early neuro-developmental sequences, which affect attention, learning and daily home life. I know how difficult it is to have a bright child that is very over-active like a little tornado with a short-attention span. I couldn't keep up with him and had to keep him busy to keep him out of trouble. I learned that with an evaluation, the deficits could be identified and treated specifically and that it would require a developmental one on one program. Seeing the progress before and after has made me a believer. I saw multiple results of how the program works. I wish Brain Boost Academy was available to everyone everywhere!

Brain Boost can help anyone realize their full potential! My son was flying under the radar at school, not doing poorly enough to catch anyone's attention. I knew he could do better, and we were struggling with behaviors at home. Now his school work is improving and we don't struggle so much at home. We began seeing results about a quarter of the way through his program and he continues to improve each week. I am so thankful that we found Brain Boost!

By the time I realized how severe the situation truly was, thanks to years of the school district lying, manipulating and gaslighting me, my children were years behind and being pushed through school without the ability to properly read, write, or do math independently. I refused to allow that to become their future. Like many parents of struggling learners, I was desperate to find help -- and unfortunately, not all "experts" are created equal. We had an extremely painful experience with our first educational therapist, whose treatment of my child caused real emotional harm. After that, I became incredibly guarded, skeptical, and hypercritical of anyone I considered bringing into my son's life. I wasn't just looking for someone qualified. I needed someone safe, compassionate, ethical, patient, and genuinely skilled at teaching complex learners. Thank god for Kellie Henkel at Lights On Learning. Kellie completely changed Hudson's life. In just ONE year, she helped Hudson close massive academic gaps -- literally 4-6 grade levels in multiple areas. The progress has been unbelievable. What felt impossible a year ago is now our reality. Hudson went from feeling defeated and overwhelmed by school to believing in himself academically again. But what makes Kellie extraordinary is not just her skill level -- it's who she is as a person. She is kind, patient, calm, compassionate, encouraging, deeply knowledgeable, and an absolute badass when it comes to teaching kids with learning differences. She knows exactly how to push students while still protecting their confidence and emotional well-being. Hudson trusted her. He felt safe with her. She rebuilt not only academic skills, but self-esteem. As a mother who has lived through the trauma of watching her children be failed by schools and hurt by professionals who were supposed to help them, I cannot explain the level of gratitude I feel for Kellie. She will forever be part of our family's story. If your child is struggling -- trust your gut. Do not let anyone convince you your child is lazy, unmotivated, or incapable. The right intervention and the right teacher can completely change the trajectory of a child's life. Kellie Henkel did exactly that for Hudson, and I will never be able to thank her enough for what she has done for our family.

Not only did she help our son but she also helped my husband and I understand what was happening with our son's speech and explained ways that we could help him using her proven methods. Kellie knows how to engage with her students and makes learning fun and enjoyable. I highly recommend her!
