I would NEVER return to Janet Davis Cleaners and I tell EVERYONE who values their clothes to avoid this dump. Janet Davis RUINED my favorite J Crew skirt by leaving a bleach spot in the front center when they tried (and failed) to remove a small stain that was barely noticeable. When I told the woman at the counter, she casually remarked "Oh, they'll refund your $10." REALLY??? WTF! I don't care about the $10. She wouldn't even give me a refund when I showed her the bleach spot! She told me that she would "have to talk to the owners." Again, WTF!!! REALLY??? Someone ended up calling and they informed me that I have a $10 credit. Wow, thanks. That really helps after ruining a skirt I had $175 invested in, including tailoring. I thought "and WHY would I bring in more of my favorite clothes when Janet Davis cleaners has already demonstrated that they can't be trusted to properly care for my garments?" The second skirt I had cleaned was returned to me with so much cleaning solvent that I literally could not work the zipper. I resorted to using wax to loosen it up. I'm glad I didn't trust this cleaner with more expensive items. My co-worker was a faithful customer until I shared my experience. She no longer trusts her clothes to Janet Davis. I hope Janet Davis goes out of business--they are one of the worst cleaners I have ever used. read more

I've been trying for over a week to have them clean 3 curtain panels. They have been unable to give me a price quote or tell me how long the cleaning will take. I was kept on hold for over 20 minutes today and still don't have an answer. The manager seems to be perpetually at lunch or "too busy" to take my call or call back and the owner, who is actually there, will not take my call either. Instead, they have the counter staff or wedding coordinator tell me that they will get back to me later. I will be picking up my curtain panels and going somewhere else. read more

Very disappointed. Gave this place three chances. First time they ruined the buckles on my trench coat (faux leather rubbed off in places). Second time they didn't return the cotton material belt that goes in the bottom of the shirt. And the third and final time, I used a coupon that didn't end up ringing up correctly. On top of those issues, the prices are expensive. The only thing they having going for them is the personnel. Always seem to be pleasant. read more

Switched to Janet Davis from my dry cleaners of 30 yrs. They changed owners and service and quality of laundry and dry cleaning went downhill. Only have had my shirts laundered so far....so far, very impressed. Dry cleaning comes next. Certainly a bit pricier than other cleaners but so far I think the quality of the shirts makes it worth it. read more

Over Priced to begin with. Then, if you have a white pinstripe or any white in general they upcharge (from the +$20 suit charge). I agree $3.00 cleaning is not good but this place does nothing but gouge you. read more

Don't believe all the other reviews. I took in five pair of designer jeans for dry cleaning. Paid the almost $10./pr price only to find out they washed my jeans and removed the sheen from the material. Fool me once your fault, fool me twice my fault. First time and last time customer. Had my drapes cleaned at Janet Davis . They were very friendly and helpful. I received a phone call with a quote within a day. The drapes were measured both and after to assure there was no shrinkage. They turned out beautifully . They were hung with protective sleeves to keep them in line until I rehung them. The price was reasonable . read more

Terribly overpriced. When I asked the manager to explain why a simple dress cost $20 to dry clean, she mumbled something about using "green" solvents and that they use new solvent on each item while other dry cleaners might clean 5 or 6 items before replacing the solvent. I'm sorry, but other dry cleaners I've used charge half that much for the dress and it was laundered just fine. Absolutely ridiculous pricing, this is not New York City. And of course prices are not readily advertised, so as a first time user you have no way of knowing you're walking into this trap. STAY AWAY! read more

Have been a customer for many years. - Too many items have been ruined - no recourse, owner is rude, as is his son - and not only didn't resolve my issues - but if they would have just been kind, and apologetic, all would have been forgotten...Shame on Janet Davis Cleaners. - A warning to customers - if you have a quality garment, take it elsewhere, as you will not have any recourse if something goes wrong....oh well, lesson learned!! read more

Where do I begin....after shrinking my white linen suit (they did reimburse me) I should have just took my money and ran. I decided to give them another try and again a couple of the items that I just got back today are ruined because I think they wash the clothes in the washer vs. dry cleaning my clothes look faded and the texture is not the same... I am very disappointed in the quality of my supposed dry cleaned clothes. I know they are expensive and if the quality matched I would be ok other than the fact that a sweater could cost anywhere from $5 to $20 depending how they scan it..So be careful and ask for prices upfront if you are concerned because they have several different prices for 1 item....another ridiculous ploy to rip you off!!! Take your gowns or laundered shirts but other than that its a joke!!! read more

Disappointed overall. I took my wedding dress there to be cleaned after doing weeks of research and it came back damaged. The fabric was very delicate and several holes were put into it during the cleaning process. They offered to fix the largest hole and it was the right thing to do, but it required me to return a second time to pick the dress up. When I got home to look at the repair, a new area was damaged (part of the bodice was no longer connected to the skirt - it was not like that the first time I examined the dress). Since it is 40 minutes one way, there was no way I was going to take my dress up there a third time to fix what they ruined. The staff was professional and my dress was cleaned quickly (4 weeks instead of six), but due to the damage I would not take anything back there. No one ever apologized and I was not offered a discount for the damage. My only recommendation to future brides if you choose to take you dress here is to check it thoroughly and if you are getting it preserved, make sure you look at it between the cleaning and preservation process. read more

My first experience w/ Janet Davis was A+. Realized at 1:00 pm that my daughter's white dress she needed that evening had a small stain and was in her laundry basket (it's dryclean only) a wrinkled mess. Called two Birmingham area cleaners who said I was too late for same day service. Janet Davis said "Bring it in. We can spot clean it and press it for you". They did just that and had it ready by 4:00. It was beautiful. Pricey (so only 4 stars) but they came through in a pinch and saved the day! Thanks! read more
