I stop here every few years or so when one of my friends is feeling nostalgic. They've got a killer breakfast, and a pretty decent club sandwich. One of the best things on the menu, which isn't pictured here is that biscuits and gravy. They have fantastic servers and they really old school. Small diner vibe. The booths are a little small, but you can work with that. There's plenty of parking, so that shouldn't be an issue. If you're looking for a great breakfast or a little diner for some coffee and pie, this is gonna be your spot.

We love the homestyle vibe at Janet's. My husband had the machaca omelet which was the special for that day. He said it was very good and full of lots of flavor. You could tell the meat was homemade because there was a bay leaf in the omelet. My husband said the home fries were good but some of them were not cooked all the way and needed about 5 minutes more on the grill. I ordered a ham and cheese omelet with hashbrowns. The omelet and hashbrowns were so filling, I had to take half of it home. My toast was delicious with the perfect amount of butter. The server was so nice, she brought me alot of vanilla creamer for my coffee. For the amount of food you get and the great service, you definitely get a great value here at Janet's. We will definitely be returning again.

Had fantastic pancakes at Janet's - both the traditional and the cinnamon roll ones. The scrambled eggs were fluffy and they give you a side of salsa. For me the biscuits and gravy were just ok, needed a lot of pepper added and I didn't love the biscuit texture. Homey place with plenty of parking and seating. Service was quick and attentive but not rushed. Will be back!

Wow what a great breakfast spot! I didn't even realize there was another location other than the santee one. Parking is a bit tight but man, worth it. They do have outdoor seating and saw some dogs on the patio. We came Sunday morning for brunch and our group of 4 was seated immediately. Menu is good size and staff were very friendly. They have this big pie display in the front and the slices are hugeeee! Everything is well priced and it was all so delicious. Heaping mound of butter on the pancakes which is perfect and all our plates were cooked perfectly. We also love we have all the condiments on the table already to make it accessible. I can't wait to bring more people here it may be my next new breakfast spot!!

It's a good restaurant. I have only had breakfast there. I like the biscuits and gravy. One person probably could not eat all of it and maybe they offer a smaller plate. I always get the full order of biscuits and gravy and share it or take some home. I like the sausage links too. It gets full inside during peak hours but they have outdoor seating. Good service, nice place to eat.

A five+ star rating goes to his Janet's Cafe today for great atmosphere with quick seating. Omlette with thick bacon and homemade salsa with a split cut of fresh avocado. We, the acquaintance and I were already planning to go in again on our way out the door!

Absolutely adorable cozy ambiance as you walk in! Real down home food. I had the Corned Beef Hash and Eggs with Pancakes. My friend had a HALF order of Biscuits and Gravy. Everything came out piping hot and scrumptious! Can't wait to go again.

Full stack of pancakes combo, eggs over easy & a sausage patty w a side of hash browns.

It's a walk-up, order and pay first kind of place, then you grab a seat, which was super easy and casual. The person taking my order was incredibly nice and patient while I figured everything out. Honestly, all the food I saw coming out looked amazing, which made it even harder to choose. They have plenty of seating both inside and outside, including a really nice covered patio, which I loved. The service really stood out to me. Even though you order up front, the servers were very attentive and came by multiple times to check on us and offer drink refills, which you don't always get in this type of setup. I ordered the steak plate with mushrooms and mashed potatoes, and everything was cooked perfectly and full of flavor. The mushrooms were especially good. The only small thing was I wish the food had been a little hotter when it came out, but the taste definitely made up for it. My only other note is I wish they had unflavored iced tea. All the options were flavored, and since I'm not a soda drinker, that would've been nice to have. Overall, such a great first visit. Great food, great service, and a really comfortable atmosphere. I'll definitely be back.

Captain's Log, Stardate 21479…read more This past Thursday, I set my coordinates for Crafted Greens in El Cajon, marking my first voyage to this culinary outpost. From the moment I arrived, it was clear that this establishment is a beacon of quality where customers are treated like royalty--kings and queens among the stars. We had the pleasure of meeting the owner, Faris, an amazing man who takes tremendous pride in his craft, much like a captain leading his crew through the final frontier. His dedication to providing exceptional service elevated the entire experience, making our meal feel like a delightful exploration into flavor worthy of the finest missions in Starfleet. As my wife indulged in an extraordinary salad, I embarked on a journey with one of the best burgers I've encountered in my culinary travels--crafted from Wagyu beef. The flavor was nothing short of a cosmic explosion in my mouth, a continuous burst of taste that was akin to discovering new life and new civilizations. Ordinarily, I would enhance a burger with condiments, but this masterpiece was prepared so well, it left me thinking, "I'm a doctor, not a condiment technician!"--it was superb, worthy of the finest dining experiences in the galaxy. During our meal, the jolly owner Faris made his rounds, transporting himself to our table with a smile, sharing complimentary in-house made chips paired with his heavenly homemade hummus. Now, as a traveler who has sampled hummus across the cosmos, I must admit that I am not typically a fan; however, this unique creation captivated my taste buds and transformed my perspective. It was certainly not illogical to enjoy such a delightful surprise--if only Spock were here to analyze this! If you ever find yourself drifting through El Cajon with a hunger for healthy sustenance or simply wish to try something new, Crafted Greens is the place to be. This is a destination I foresee haunting for many moons to come--ready to boldly go where no flavor enthusiast has gone before! Live long and prosper. End log. Captain 619

There were several quirky cute diners in the area so it was tough to choose. Ultimately, Izzy's menu excited me more than the others. I love the barbecue brunch thing going on, too. Very unique and we totally would've tried some ribs had we not gone to Phil's for the first time the night before and had a ton of leftovers. We split a Country Benny and the Jalapeño scramble, which had their homemade pulled pork in it. Julie was an outstanding server. Super patient, attentive, and helpful. You can choose muffins or coffee cake (only $1 extra!) instead of toast, which I love by the way, but I really appreciated that she asked if I had tried the coffee cake because it's not what I thought it was. She explained it as more of a vanilla cupcake with nuts and white icing? Which is kinda random that they call it coffee cake, but it made us opt for the zucchini muffin which was definitely the right choice. Moist, warm, and delicious to nibble on while we waited for the rest of our meal. She also asked if we needed anything else, like salsa, when our entrees came. Which, I usually alwayyys have to request but she was 2 steps ahead of us. The Bloody Mary was tasty and just strong enough to start our afternoon. I'm a huge sucka for biscuits & gravy and theirs really hit the spot. The sausage patty was so good and definitely homemade. Perfectly poached eggs harmoniously smothered in yummy gravy and fluffy biscuits. Crispy hashbrowns, great country potatoes. The scramble was good, too. Pulled pork had a nice smoky flavor and I've never seen nor had it with eggs before which is awesome. The portions were just right. Not huge, but we got full and everything tasted great so what more can you ask for? The deep fried pie! Duh. Super bummed we didn't take a peach one home...

What really makes them stand out is their use of Hot Cheetos and Doritos throughout the menu. We decided to try the Hot Cheeto Beef Burger ($12.99), which comes with a smashed beef patty, pickles, caramelized onions, arugula, Swiss cheese, Rizzo sauce, and fries underneath the burger. I ordered mine without pickles and added avocado. Presentation-wise, it was just okay. It definitely looked better on the menu. The burger came out looking a little rushed and the bun wasn't centered. Not a huge deal, but it didn't have that wow factor I was expecting. Service was pretty transactional from start to finish. Nothing negative, but there wasn't much interaction beyond taking the order and handing out the food. As for the burger itself, I have mixed feelings. It wasn't bad at all, but it didn't quite live up to the concept. The beef tasted fresh and good quality. I really liked the avocado addition. It added a nice richness and freshness that balanced everything out. I just wish there had been more caramelized onions because they were barely noticeable. Oh and no clue where the arugula went. My biggest issue was that the Hot Cheetos didn't really do much for the burger itself. Most of that flavor ended up on the fries, so the burger never really delivered the wow factor I was expecting based on the name and photos. Ironically, the fries ended up being my favorite part of the meal. The Hot Cheeto flavor came through much more there, and I liked that there was melted cheese underneath with their signature sauce throughout. They felt more like loaded fries than a side dish and honestly stole the spotlight from the burger. Everything tasted fresh and the portions were fair. For me, it landed right in the middle. Decent, but not something I'd specifically go out of my way for again.

But it's softballs, not baseballs. Service is legit. Fast, friendly. They're like get in, order, get out. But we stayed for probably an hour and a half. The live music was great, not too loud. I am sad to confess the food here is not as legit as I figured based on being a San Diego local and a big DDD watcher. It probably depends on which day you come, but on Thursday, the brisket was so average. Del's in Del Cerro is better. Smoky and the Brisket is better. I had my brisket served with that nacho cheese and relish, not nearly as great as I thought it would be based on DDD. I also don't drink anymore, but if I were to have had 2-3 beers + this dinner + the enviornment I would have loved it. My son gave a huge thumbs up to his burger, daughter liked her food. The portions were generous and while all the food was good the standout was the benedict. The hollandaise was super bright and had a great lemon flavor--much better than any I've had elsewhere! The eggs were perfectly cooked and the chashu was delicious and well caramelized and even after sharing with my kid there was plenty. We regretted not getting the house potatoes with it as they looked amazing at the other tables. The pancake was very good though-fluffy and flavorful. The egg drop sandwich was also really good with super fluffy bread and tons of good filling. My kid enjoyed everything which was a boon. The Japanese souffle pancakes were fine but not as stand out as the other dishes. I have tried making them myself and had them at morning glory and such and they are often too eggy for my liking.
