My Pug slipped out of her harness while I was dining at one of my favorite ramen shops in the Portland area, and the owner suggested I visit the pet supply store several doors down! I'd never heard about Janis & Jack's Pet Supplies before, so I was really appreciative of the recommendation. This place is incredible! Janis & Jack's has something for everyone, from food and supplements, to harnesses, leashes and more. The store provides just about every kind of food one can imagine, including my favorite Primal raw food products. (Just a note: I've been feeding my dogs a raw food Primal diet for nearly 15 years and we've been blessed with happy, healthy dogs without any major health issues. I believe their health and longevity is, in large, due to this diet) The owner of the store was working during my visit, and went out of their way to help me find a harness that worked for my pup. This store is the cutest. So I took my boys there a few months ago after the little guy got Groomed at Goat and Bear. The boys NOSED their way through and we got some treats. I brought both boys to the groomer as Finn, now over 50lbs is not willing to let Mama cut his nails anymore. So he got a nail grind. Afterwards, Finn PULLED me to J&J's lol he was determined to get treats!!! And he did. Both did. And it's a really cute - locally owned shop. So check it out!! read more

Came here on Saturday & was pleasantly surprised. Very large selection for a range of animals. It's rare that I can go into a smaller pet supply like this & find everything I need, and then some. I have a few different kinds of animals, so I was surprised that I didn't need to stop anywhere else later that day for anything pet-related. The prices were surprisingly reasonable as well, my bill only came out to around $30 for a bag of goodies. They've got some sort of rewards program for the freeze-dried stuff, too, which I immediately signed up for. They were generous with samples, thanks to this we found a new food we'd like to try for one of our cats. My only critique is to please give us some space to shop. We wanted to explore this new store & felt like we were being watched & interrupted quite a bit. Even after saying we didn't need help. We knew what we needed but still wanted to just browse. They specialize in healthy alternatives to store bought food , including raw food diets. Amazing hands on service! I wanted to find a local place that sold my pup's preferred food brand for his sensitive stomach (and super picky tastebuds) while visiting Tigard for 10 days and Laura and her team were so professional while being so sweet. Within the first minute of calling in and seeing that they don't carry Primal Raw Dog Food, they offered to place a special order for me. Fast forward to my stay, my special order not only arrived early but they also didn't charge extra or make me order an insane amount! The store itself is great too. Great selection of high quality brands both locally and nationally made. There's even a drive thru window for order picks AND questions/shopping that I know I'll definitely utilize on a future visit. Can't forget to mention how you leave the store with free treat samples for the pup and free chocolate for yourself!! I wish every business had such hands on service. :) read more

I really don't have a lot more to contribute in my review than what other people have already stated. The Customer Service is really friendly, and interactive & helpful. I wanted to try on a fox sweater for my pup, and she helped me put it on him, and also helped to "distract" him. I wasn't use to the helpfulness in all honesty, But I do really appreciate it!! And, I like their selection of products as well, some things that you can find at other stores, but some unique things like the fox sweater! And a glow-light, that we attach to my pup's leash when we go for runs at night, it is really helpful. I def recommend this place! read more

10/7/15 Sindy was extremely helpful. She helped me with finding just the right harness for Jack. She also gave me excellent advice for training him. I'm so happy that they are in the neighborhood. We will definitely be coming back here for Jack's needs and wants Update 1/17/16 We are now frequent customers as my dog Jack LoVes Sindy and Laura. He's grown considerably and they helped me get a NO PuLL harness for him and even put it on him for me. That demonstration sold me on it. It works like a charm. Their dog food is Jacks favorite. They even have a drive up window if you don't want to get out of your car on a rainy day with your little loves ones in the back. They are everything I desire in a pet store. read more

I shop at the Tigard location, where the staff is always friendly and extremely helpful. They sell a variety of top-notch pet food and supplies. If you order online, you can just drive up to the window, and they'll place your order in the trunk. They were doing this prior to covid, so I imagine even more people are taking advantage of their contact-less pick up now. Products are a little pricey, (Think Whole Foods for Dogs) but you get quality food, and get to support a great local business! read more

Amazing service! Pups and I were happily greeted the moment we walked in, by the owner. She was super nice and well informed about pets and the necessary nutrition they need. The place was gorgeous, with a clean set up and easy to navigate. It is a must check out! They have tons of healthy food options from kibbles to raw, and the dogs favorite sections treats and toys! How we got there.... We called about a week ago looking for a sample of Ziwi Peak Lamb and Tripe. They did not have any in but graciously were able to order some. She helped talk us through the possible transition from NW Naturals to Ziwi Peak for our trip, which was wonderful since have have had little to no experience with this product. They are very knowledgeable and helpful with things like food selection. The Filling Station has frequent events that foster community involvement. They even have a drive thru so you can make your order online and pick it up on your way home from work. We love the filling stations! We thought our dog had sever food allergies after doing a sensitive test. They sent months trying the to find us the right food. Turns out the environmental allergies are the problem. We still come here for toys and treats. Super wonderful service! I walked in on my way home to get my pup a treat and was greeted right away with a huge smile and even thanked for coming in! I was able to easily find items that are awesomely priced compared to other chain locations and non chains alike. I spoke to the owner over the phone to see if the filling station carried a certain dog food. She said that it didn't, however her other store, Healthy Pets in Portland did and she said that she would have the food transferred over in a couple hours. My husband went to pick it up in Tigard, used the drive through, and he said he's never had such a good customer service. They had the dog food ready, brought it out to the car, and even had little treats for our dogs and my husband :). Great attention to detail and customer service, which is hard to find these days, but not at the Filling Station! read more

This is by far THE BEST pet store I have visited and it even has a drive thru!! I've had some great customer service before but this experience topped them all. I didn't grab the gal's name (she was the owner) but she was knowledgeable, friendly, welcoming, and incredibly generous with free dog food samples and treats. She let me know they even have happy hour and other fun things that happen in the store. How cool is this?? I can't wait to bring my pups into the store to meet her and to pick out something fun. It has all the same prices and most of the same products as Mud Bay but the fact that this is locally owned will bring me back. I can't wait to come back and use the drive thru! read more

Amazing customer service. We were eating at Mugen next door when we realized our dog was thirsty. How convenient, we thought for a pet store to be nearby. So I walked in bought a nice travel bowl, the clerk chatted with me and gave me some doggie treats as well as some Hershey Kisses. I liked the inside of the store. It was spacious and airy and modern-appearing, not like the cluttered fluorescent-lighted feel you get at places like Petco. Went back to the restaurant eating noodles when she came out walked to our table and said she realized that we had left the little carabiner clip for the travel bowl behind. She handed that to us and also, more treats for the dog! We will definitely support this locally owned store. read more

She has owned and operated Healthy Pets Northwest on Alberta Street for years, which is where I currently shop for my dog because it is in my neighborhood. Nicely convenient just off Scholls Ferry Road and Nimbus. We had been looking for Doggy Poop bags. Most stores carried ones that were too little or too large, The Filling Station had a nice variety of sizes and we found just the right size for our two Corgis.
