This was our first time here and Corinna worked her magic on my Aussie Wrigley! She made sure Wrigley was comfortable with the whole process, was so patient with him, and took extra care during drying after I told her he gets nervous around blow dryers (also dogs in headphones are so cute lol!) She was clearly passionate about helping dogs look their best and giving them lots of love in the process! I'm so happy about how Wrigley was groomed with the iconic peach Aussie butt, perfectly brushed (goodbye undercoat), and extra soft plus smelling so good. We've been going here for nearly 10 years now and can't say enough great things about the staff. Our dogs always come out with beautiful cuts and they look very happy. The staff is so nice and welcoming to our dogs. I love their new texting system to confirm your appointments and also to inform you when your dog is almost ready for pickup. This review is long overdue as we've been taking our 3 Lhasa Apsos to Doggy Amour for over a year now. After breaking up with several groomers from NE, NW and SW quadrants of the greater Portland area in the past 4-5 years, my husband found Doggy Amour via google search and social media. We are very particular with whom or where we take our pups to for grooming as we like to maintain them with a certain look, but more importantly we need a groomer who listens & understands a Lhasa Apso's coat, is able to do scissor cuts (a specialized skill) and one who can work and keep a dog calm while being groomed even those high anxiety dogs like one of the three we have. Another important criteria in selecting a grooming salon is its cleanliness. Well, lucky us we found Doggy Amour and met the owner, Corinna. She meets all the criteria above and her shop is super clean. Before taking our pups to Corinna, my husband spoke with her and we had shared photos with her of groom/cut styles we wanted for our youngest Lhasa, Oliver, whom at time was only 10 mos old and has never been groomed. Oliver had a long, thick yet soft hair that easily matted so we needed him cut back so it is easier to manage and so that he can also be comfortable and cooler in the Summer. It was going to be his first puppy cut and because we hated to lose his luxurious looking coat, we wanted to make sure he was cut back to a style that suits him. Corinna looked at the style of cuts and reassured my husband that she can cut Oliver in same style. The day of his scheduled appt came and Corinna checked out Oliver's hair before taking him to the back and again she reassured my husband that she can cut him in the style we wanted for him, but also offered her advise in what would work on his coat versus not. I was out of town on this day so my husband brought him in and picked him up and hours later I get a picture of Oliver's new look! It was like seeing a brand new puppy as he look so different yet very cute and stylish! We couldn't be happier and Oliver is so much more comfortable with a shorter cut! Everyone loved his new cut including him, he was so excites as he felt lighter and cooler! Everywhere we go, we received compliments of his new cut and we would often get asked what style it is and where we take him to...needless to say, we took Oliver to Corinna at Doggy Amour since then and also started taking two of our Lhasas with their special coats (one has a show coat length hair and the other has wavy, curly hair). Photos attached. To this date, we have taken Oliver and our two other Lhasas, Nikki and Bailey, to Corinna countless times and each time, she did not disappoint. We travel often to the San Francisco area and take them out for walks and we get countless compliments on their grooming cuts. One time we were at Pacific Heights neighborhood and a couple walking their puppy stopped us and complimented our Lhasas asking if we take Oliver to "Leonard." I had this confused look in my face as I wasn't understanding what she was asking so I asked for her to clarify and the lady said, "Leonard, he's a groomer for the celebrity dogs. He 's at the Russian Hill Dog Grooming." My response to her, "No, his hair is by Corinna from Doggy Amour of Oregon." :) It's hard to find a skilled groomer who cuts with precision and integrity. If you are looking for a groomer who is talented, knows dogs and understands how to work with different types of coats, take your pup to Corinna at Doggy Amour. Not only is she super skilled and great with dogs, she listens and always make sure that her customers are happy with her grooming work. Brief Backstory: My hubby and I adopted Ms. Maya last December 2017 (circa a year before I'm writing this review) and we opted for an 11 year old sweet Llhaso Apso-Rescue who was also about 11 pounds! Previously, my hubby and I have owned bigger-breed dogs that have different fur vs. doggo hair so they never required Official Grooming every couple of months. And, that is never something we grew up with, so we weren't really familiar with the process. My first instinct to find a new-to-us dog groomer was to let my fingers do the walking and use Yelp to find a doggo groomer. We found one near us, but the first time taking Ms. Maya to that groomer was a major strike-out. Ms. Maya was accidentally grazed with a razor/grooming tool near hear artery on her back leg-near her tummy. My hubby ultimately took her to our vet and she got sutured up, and was on antibiotics and had to wear a cone for a few weeks and had a half-done hair cut for a few months! So, that was traumatic, that other-grooming company that did that, was responsible for their actions and covered the cost of the vet bills, but regardless, our family was in too much shock, so we elected to not go back to that gromming company. We struck out with another mobile grooming company that I tried to make an appointment with for Maya-since she might have been more reactive than other dogs- I figured a mobile truck would be a good option so then she would be the only dog in there, but that mobile grooming company turned me down, so they were too busy and didn't even invite us to get on the waiting list. So, then we tried one of the big-box--pet-chain-dog groomers and we ended up going there a few times with Ms. Maya and it was fine overall, but we were looking for a little more. Then, one night we were at Pub Trivia at a place near Target and I saw a woman with a small dog, that physically looked similar to Maya and also appeared to have a similar temperament. So, I went out on limb and approached her and asked her where she got her dogged groomed at, and she was beaming when she was talking about "Doggy Amour" and Carina & Co. And, especially since this was unsolicisited advice- I was the one who approached her! - I figured this was a very meaningful doggo grooming tip. It took awhile to get an appt time worked out, cuz Doggy Amour is really popular- but we were able to time it just right and we got a Saturday afternoon appt for her. And, the person who was grooming Maya that day asked me a lot of intake- questions and about what time of haircut we wanted for her. (I was unintentionally vague, I just didn't know enough to know what we wanted! ) But, the groomer seemed to innately read my mind somehow and Maya ended up with a beautiful hair cut! And, it fits her doggo personality well, and it has been a few weeks since she got it cut, and it is growing in nicely! (Versus, some of the other cuts we have gotten Maya previously by more of the chain-dog store companies have finished her up and she looked more like a small rat, then a dog. So, it was nice to seeing Maya coming out of the salon on day zero looking like a cute doggo, and not finishing with a hair cut that we would have to say "well, she will grow out of the cut, and then it will look cuter later" So, that was nice to see a nice cut, right off the bat!) And, overall, they were really good dog handlers, I was nervous with how Maya would interact with the other dogs there, but she did great. King City is a little bit of a drive for me, since we live in Hillsboro Area, but it is worth the drive over! I look forward to continuing with this grooming company and developing a Long-Term Relationship (LTR) with them for Maya! read more

We brought our Pomeranian to have her groomed by Corinna. We always took her to a groomer at a large retail chain but we wanted to try something new due to the high prices. Corinna was extremely friendly and answered all of our questions. We wanted a certain haircut for our Pom and she was able to meet our expectations. She also went out of her way to schedule an appointment super early to accommodate our work schedule. We are happy we found Corinna and we will be seeing her again. If you are reluctant to switch to a different groomer we recommend you give Corinna a try. She knows what she is doing, pays a lot of attention to detail, takes great care of your dog and can work with you on a haircut you think fits best for your dog. I have a dog who's scared of other dogs and either whines and tries to run away or growls and tries to fight when she sees or even hears other dogs and she hates getting her nails cut and tries to run away if you even grab her paw, so she's a bit of a special case when we take her here but they are so kind about it and always help us out even though my dog can be a handful. The woman with the red hair usually always cuts my dogs nails and checks us out and she treats my dog with so much care. if you take even your most difficult dogs here you won't regret it and make sure to tip the red hair lady at least 20%, I always tip her 100% since the nail cutting is so cheap! only 10$ for the kindest and sincerest service read more

I have been taking my small dogs to Doggy Amour for three years. It became more expensive but I continued to go there because my dogs were familiar with the groomers. For some reason a follow up apt had not been scheduled When I realized it, I called and was given an 8:30 time. I work late so I rarely commit to morning apts. But it was before the holiday and I wanted my dogs looking pretty. I accepted the time with hesitation. For some reason my alarm went off the next morning instead of the morning of the apt. I woke at 8:30 and called Doggy Amour immediately. They were reasonable on the phone and had me take the dogs in the next day. When I picked them up they told me they were not only charging me $159.00 for the grooming but added $20 no-show fee. I had called and told them I'd be late but they chose to reschedule me. It was not a no-show and I've been a long time customer who has never missed or been late for an apt. The dark haired lady surprised me with her venomous attitude. I didn't hang out and argue. I pointed out that If they treat long time costumers like that, I'd find another groomer. Then they handed me the payment device and expected a tip. I've always given healthy tips but they took $20.00 from me so I skipped the tip and I'm moving on. read more
