We came here on a Monday night and were surprised that three of the hot dogs were already sold out so if you come here we recommend coming earlier in the day for lunch instead of a dinner. We had ordered number 1, 2, 7 and 12. I highly recommend sharing with a bunch of friends so that you can try the different. We shared four amongst three people and it was surprisingly very filling. We also ordered some takoyaki which was delicious.

Overall a creative concept with a unique twist on your classic hot dog. I wouldn't say it blew my mind, but the nori did pair well with the hotdog in a way my tastebuds hadn't experienced before!! Would I revisit? Eh probably not, but still a solid place to try out!

When I'm on vacation, I don't like to eat at the same place twice. Mainly because I only have a short time there, I want to experience as much as I can. HOWEVER, these dogs are damn good. And in my defense this was a different location from the first one I went to :P Haha. I highly recommend to try the Korobuta Terimayo!!

Oh my goodness! Who knew such goodness existed! ! ordered: *#12 is the bomb!!!!!!!! i can't describe why it's so good but it is. if i can i would eat this all day. my fiance and i tried it our first day in vancouver and then we had to go back two more times. *simply getting the bratzwurst by itself is pretty darn good too. *DO NOT get the shrimp. its scary with the little shrimps that they put on top and the little eyes staring at you. i took them off and well let's say that flavor wise it's not good. my finace and i took 3 bites altogether and then tossed it. i would highly recommend JAPAdog. i think they are better than other hotdog places i've tried like pinks, doghaus, etc. if you're visiting vancouver and your not trying this out then you're missing out. tips: *no seating area *many locations are a food cart. *Cash only. *Has a lot of other locations. *Nice staff. *Food comes out quick *Lots of celebrities Have tried japadog. *look out for orange umbrellas! *does sell combos. *sell bottled drinks.

I stopped by this food cart because many of my friends recommended for a quick bite. Arriving at the cart I loved the simple menu with 7-8 choices and the pictures of celebrities trying the food. I chose the #1 kurobuta terimayo which is their most popular hot dog. I was impressed with every aspect of the hot dog, the creamy mayo sauce with the onions and seaweed pieces, and the hotdog was crunchy with a soft bun. Would come again.

The Yelp location for this cart was not accurate and luckily we spotted it as we were driving down from Georgia street. I went with the pork hot dog bento box which comes with fried chicken, some type of potato croquette, and 1/3 of two different types of Japadog, plus fries. The two half dogs that you get are the number-one and number-two sellers which are delicious just make sure and add some miso mayonnaise to the top to take it to the next level. On a side note they only accept cash and if you did not have Canadian dollars there is a bank literally 40 feet away from the cart so do yourself a favor and go in there and exchange your u.s. money for Canadian dollars because they will charge you one to one value if you try to give them American money. Definitely a yummy thing to grab if your jonesing for a hot dog and want to see a Japanese Twist on it.

Japanese twist on the classic hot dog is a must eat. Loved the terimayo. Locals told me avoid all 'Kobe' dogs. But otherwise you can't go wrong. If you like wasabi load up on the wasabi mayo in the condiments section (free!) it's not very spicy. Overall somewhat clean establishment with plenty of seating. Would return for more!

Tried number 1 & 2. Was too dry for me. Make sure to add the sauces they have, whichever you like! Worth the try just to know what the hype is all about. 3.5/5

I had to stop by this cart on my short trip to Vancouver. We have a similar Japanese hot dog place in LA (Dogzilla) but I heard this is the OG. I ordered the Kurobuta Terimayo and my boyfriend ordered the Okonomi. Depending on which cart you go to in the city, I believe there are five, their menu differs. I wanted to try the Yakisoba one but this location did not have it. My kurobuta dog was super juicy and full of flavor. The terimayo (teriyaki and mayo) sauce doesn't sound good at first but the combination is great! I love the salty flavor from the seaweed. I tried the okonomi and I thought it was ok. I usually like bonito flakes but just not in a hot dog. I wish we had this cart back here in LA, my mouth is just watering just thinking of it!

After passing this stand outside the Waterfront station, I knew I had to try it; what on earth is a Japanese hot dog? I tried the beef Terimayo, and I wasn't disappointed. A regular hot dog topped with Japanese accoutrements, like Kewpie, seaweed, and some other mystery ingredients, it was delicious and unique. There is also a local RBC right next to the Waterfront station, which I used to exchange my American dollars for Canadian money to buy this dog!

I have to disagree with the mediocre reviews for Japadog because holy balls, is that one delicious dog!!! They have their carts with their bright orange umbrellas all over the city, but we came to this one twice on our trip. The guy was always super friendly. I had the regular terimayo dog, which had grilled onions, teriyaki sauce, mayo, and seaweed. Sounds funky, looks weird, but tastes amazingggg. The buns are toasted, the dog is fat, and the sauces all combine together to make a delicious taste. Hubby had one that he didn't like too much the first time (don't remember what it was, but it was pork), but the second time he had the spicy cheese terimayo, and he loved it. Not sure what's up with all the haters, but it's definitely not a typical dog... you gotta be open to trying it!

Came here on my road trip, I have to say it was a pretty nice experience. The japadog was pretty good, especially when I'm not a fan of hot dogs. When my friends were telling me about this place, i was pretty 50/50. Wasn't really sure what to expect from them. I have to say, they change my view of hot dogs forever and whenever I hear the word "JAPADOG!" I'll ask "WHERE!" I love the one I went to was a cart along the side of a street corner. It gave me a pretty nice environment to enjoy my hot Japadog in the cold winter vancouver downtown area. I would definitely recommend this place.

Oh well, what did I expect them to put on a lox and cream cheese bagel? The place itself was very busy and clearly popular. They serve German foods: sausages, perogies, etc. and sandwiches as well. I've had the sausage here before and it was very good. The shop was clean and the service moved quickly despite the crowd. Staff were very friendly. Good food and worth trying but just be prepared for Granville Island pricing.

First things first, this doesn't have the oomph and character coolness of Japadog that locals and visitors have grown to love. No long line ups here, no uniformed Japanese speaking staff, no photos of hotdogs with different toppings, and yes, no photo of Ice Cube too. There was only a friendly smile from the owner and one unique item offering which was the tandoori dog, choice of either kosher beef or kosher chicken. For $5.50, it was just plain and ordinary with only a hint of tandoori flavour basted on the hotdog. Despite the onions being nicely cooked in butter, bread rightly toasted, it was just boilerplate okay. It lacked creativity, texture and presentation, the wow factor. I was expecting toppings as chutney, yogurt, maybe paneer, or some curry infused side condiments, but there was only mustard, ketchup, and bbq sauce, typical for the dirty water dog varieties, not a stand named as Tandoori Tikka Dog. Sigh. Didn't mean to be the bearer of bad news here, but I'm giving it 2.5 stars and hoping they could improve as there's still lots of room left for more ethnic fusion street foods here in Vancouver. Meanwhile, I don't think it deserves a visit from Anthony Bourdain as of yet.
