    The wrong drink
    Adria H.

I decided to try this place after reading the other positive reviews. My experience this evening was FAR from stellar. I ordered the chicken shawarma wrap and made it a meal with soup and a drink. There was no option to select what soup I'd be getting, but assumed it wouldn't be to dangerous to be surprised with whatever the soup of the day is. I did however write in the comments that my drink selection was vimto. I tracked the delivery of my order because I was hungry, and good thing I did because the driver left my order outside on the ground!!! Did not even bother to ring my doorbell!!! In 30 degree weather, my food was already lukewarm when I brought it inside. I wish I had not pre-paid the delivery driver's tip because they surely shouldn't have gotten one. I'll start with the soup. I can't even guess what kind of soup this is. It's as thick as a custard, I do not see nor did I taste any lentils, so I have no idea what this soup is. It's flavorless, thick and inedible. The chicken shawarma wrap was no better. The chicken is hard and overcooked!! Chicken shawarma, when it is made fresh, is juicy, tender and flavorful. This chicken is the opposite. The chicken is slathered in sauce, likely to try to hide how dry the chicken is. This sandwich is also inedible. Lastly, they didn't even get the drink right!! They sent me a can of Pepsi, which I don't even drink. Will never eat here again, and strongly advise against patronizing this establishment that clearly does not prepare their food with love or any sense of pride.

Served my wife and I spoiled Hummus. Order completely wrong almost intentionally. Never coming back. Also horrible customer service.

Always fresh and good customer service. My kids love their Arabic shawarma sandwiches and their delicious lentil soup.

Placed a pickup order from here. Order was ready on time. The place is bright and clean inside, with the kitchen in plain view behind the long counter. I had really high hopes because of all the great reviews, but I think how they cook some of the food is just not quite to my taste. Both the chicken shawarma and falafel were good, but basically on par with other Middle Eastern restaurants. I liked how there was a greater variety of salads and spreads to put in my bowl compared to other similar restaurants, but they were really hit or miss. In general, things seemed to be way more pureed than I'm used to. Hummus and baba ghanouj tasted great, but pureed to a silk so there wasn't any texture - no sign of the chickpeas or eggplant that went into them. Same with the lentil soup- I prefer having some evidence of lentils. Fava bean salad was extremely sour - to the point where I wondered whether it had gone bad - I couldn't eat it. Muthawma (potato and garlic dip) tasted oddly cheesy to me - wasn't my thing. Fries were fantastic, and the kid's meal was huge. And the fried garlicky pita croutons were a nice surprise touch for the lentil soup. Glad I tried this place, but I'll stick to my other usual spots in the future.

Stop reading! Just come in... you won't be sorry. Their food is amazing. We are working our way through the menu - but the lunch special is a great place to start. I get the steak shawarma, usually pita but today I got the wrap. Comes with fries and a drink. $9. Score. The bowls are also great, and great value. The owner is really nice, and he makes this lentil soup to his family recipe and it is phenomenal. Place is clean and bright. Bathrooms are clean. Parking in lot out front. Am stopping by every time I'm in the neighborhood. You should too !!

A good place for no-frills, tasty middle eastern food. They have a good menu variety and the prices are reasonable. I came here for dinner since I was in the area and wanted some middle eastern food. I had not been here before so, it was an obvious choice for me. It wasn't busy when I got here and had an idea of what I wanted to eat. I ordered one of their bowls. Their bowls are served with a bed of rice or chopped salad and topped with your choice of two spreads, two choices of salads, and your choice of two sauces. I got one with chopped salad with half chicken and half steak shawarma, Baba Ghanouj, Spicy Hummus, Arabic Salad, Fava Bean Salad, Garlic Sauce and their spicy Fire Sauce. The food was good and the taste was om point. I really enjoyed this dish and its flavors. I chowed it down and wanted more. But I am saving it for the next time I go here. There are more items on their menu to be tried. I received good service. The restaurant was clean and inviting. I recommend you check out this restaurant. It's worth a visit or two.

    Lentil soup and yellow rice.
    John B.

It all started with a welcome! This is a walk up counter order place. I saw a huge menu and quickly narrowed it down to kafta and chicken kabob skewers. While I was reading the menu though the "pusher" behind the counter offered me a small taster of the lentil soup. There are a few things that will make me immediately buy something. That little cup of soup was just the thing to push me over the edge. I ordered a cup of soup, the skewers of meat and the yellow rice. I considered spicy rice, but I need a baseline. Everything was absolutely wonderful! The Kafta kabobs were packed with flavor and meat was tender. The chicken kabobs were just as flavorful. The yellow rice was exactly as I expected and the soup was the shining star of the entire meal. I wonder if they sell it by the gallon. The ambiance has reflections of Boston Market, except for the lights. I do like the lights a lot. I will definitely be back.

Now I have eaten at a lot of Mediteranean restaurants over the years & just like every other food type there are some great place, good places & mediocre places. Larsa's definitely rates in the great range. Their food is delicious. In the past people, myself included used Pita Inn as a benchmark, but that's mainly because in the beginning there wasn't much to compare to. I have been trying different Mediteranean restaurants and Larsa's left PI in the rear view mirror. You can't even begin to compare the food at Larsa's to the former as the ingredients and flavors are far superior. Sure the cost is a little more, but there is absolutely no comparison as Larsa's food is far superior everything is made individually and not an assembly line production We started with a cup of lentil soup. I was like a starving animal savoring every bit of that soup. I should have gotten a bowl as it was delicious. Our server Nadia also brought out a regular serving of the jalapeño & cilantro hummus served w/warm thin pita bread. OMG this was like heaven. My sister mentioned that she could make a meal out just the hummus and the pita and I agree. Next we had the Fatoush Salad this has crispy pita crust, lettuce, cucumbers, tomatoes, radishes, green peppers w/a dressing with olive oil, lemon & sumac. This was just ok, but I liked the crispy pita bread it added a nice crunch. We split a combo platter as the portion size is very generous. This dish comes w/chicken kabobs, beef kifta, beef shawarma, red onions, tomatoes slices & basmati long grain rice. The kifta & chicken kabobs were both very tasty, it they were a little dry. The beef shawarma was cooked & seasoned perfectly as the pieces just melted in my mouth. Every once in awhile our server Nadia came by and was very helpful in telling us about dishes we had questions about. She was super cool and friendly. There was another server that was also very helpful, but we didn't catch her name. Sometimes you go to a restaurant that everyone raves about and you think ehhh what the big deal, but this isn't the case w/Larsa's. I will definitely be back again. Thanks for the heads up Yelpies you picked a winner.

All I know is that when it comes to falafel, Pita Inn is where I'm headed. I've had a falafel addiction since I was a wee lad. It calls to me. The crisp shell. The moist and not-too-dense insides. Seasoning balanced on a knife's edge. I'm salivating. Falafel, calling my name. There are different approaches to falafel, I know, but Pita Inn lines it up exactly how I like it. Skokie has a plethora of Middle Eastern eateries, and while I have no idea why that is, I'm not mad at piles of falafel on every block. For awhile I was motivated to try other falafel spots. But why? What am I doing? Pita Inn cooks those golden spheres to perfection. And then on top of that, they bring in the accoutrements for backup. The hot sauce. The endless raw onions with sumac. Piles of pickled turnips. They just do it. Then, when I think it's over, they knock me out with a flawless lentil soup and a plant-based kabob made with charbroiled Impossible meat. I give up. Pita Inn, just keep my card on file. I'm not going anywhere else. Take my money. You win.
