My family and I have been loyal customers of Wild Pita for a long time and I appreciate how they supported me during the pandemic. We loved their rice, which reminds me of home, and made it a weekly staple for us. Unfortunately, we've recently stopped our weekly visits. Despite spending $46 and ordering extra sides of rice to round out our dinner, the portions have become noticeably smaller over time. In the attached photo taken today the rice with the chicken strips is much smaller even though I personally asked for them to add more rice explaining that everyone at home fights for it. A large bag of rice at Costco is less than $20, how hard is it to add extra rice? This spot has been on my list to try for a while. For this visit I was enjoying a walk from the train station, a solid mile away. There's lots of exciting food options on the route, and I did question myself on if this was worth the effort... it was. Small place, but that just fine. No other nonsense, no air freshener, no cleaning supply smell, no candles, just the smell of exactly what your here for. The cones of meat are spinning right in front of you behind the counter. What a beautiful sight. I ordered the lunch special #1. It comes with chicken shawarma, chicken kabob, kefta kabob, rice, salad, pita, and a falafel. Less than 12 bucks! Available from 12 to 3 pm, this is a great value. I'll get the negative out of the way here, I didn't care for the chicken kabob. It just felt over done, but good flavor. Also, the pita was a very generic and dry pita. Likely store bought. Not a huge deal but if pita is in your name I expect a decent one. The shawarma was spot on perfect. I've had my fair share of shawarma at this point and I'd put this up near the top, especially on the local scene. The kefta was my favorite part of the plate, the spices really show up and stand out. Perfect cook as well. The rice was nice with some citrus flavor that balanced the plate out. The salad was very basic but tasted fresh. A special mention for their spicy red sauce. THIS. This is the red sauce I always want but no one does it this well. Just the perfect heat level, at the very tip of my tolerance, with plenty of flavor to back up the spice. I ordered a falafel wrap, side of rice, lentil soup, and baba ghanoush which comes with pita (although I think it might be laffa bread). The falafel wrap tasted great, and I really enjoyed the fact that it was long and thin making it easy to eat. The rice was flavorful and the lentil soup was delicious! I also loved the creamy consistency of the baba ghanoush. I was happy to find out their tahini is not made with dairy. Staff was friendly and helpful. The only negative is the ambiance isn't great. Ordered the shish kebab plate, the meat was super dry and had no flavor at all, rice had no flavor or seasoning, and the hot sauce had a funky pungent flavor to it. We had delivery of two dishes plus hummus. Delivery was super fast and our food arrived fresh and hot. We rate the chicken Sharma higher than the beef Sharma. The chicken was the perfect texture of browned yet super tender and nicely seasoned. My husband had the beef, but requested no sauce at all. That may be why he wasn't overly excited about it. It came exactly as we ordered. Both Sharma typically comes with a large serving of rice, a small dressed lettuce salad and what I assume was cold pickled vegetables (celery, cabbage, green beans....). A huge amount of food. I told them I had put in an order using an app and they said that they knew and made me feel weird for telling them. As I waited for the food, I got a text saying that the food was ready and when I went up because I saw a bag of food at the counter, I asked if that was mine and one of the workers shrugged and said they weren't sure. First time @ Wild Pita Mediteranean Grill. This restaurant is a few doors north of Siunik on Waukegan Road. I never seem to go far enough north because I always stop at Siunik. I was coming back from the doctors office today around 5:45 and I saw this on Yelp. Even though I love Siunik I thought it would be good for a change of pace. Wild Pita did not disappoint. I ordered a combination meal with 2 Kifta Kabobs about 8" long, a huge plate of yellow rice and a salad for $8.99. The Kifta kabobs were delicious, perfectly seasoned. The yellow rice while plentiful was rated bland, but was much better with some hot sauce. They have a nice selection of your Mediteranean dishes like chicken and beef Kabobs, chicken and beef shawarma, falafel, hummus, baba ganoush....They also have lunch specials for $5.99. This is an alright place for the typical Mediterranean staples however, I've had better. Best thing to get here is definitely the kefta kabob. The balance of spices is just right and it was tender and juicy. The pita bread served alongside has a good chew and a addicting sourdough like flavor. Chicken shawarma was tender as well however I would have liked a bigger pop of flavor as it did taste a little flat. Falafel was also lacking in flavor and it didn't taste freshly made as it came quite lukewarm and dry. The dips I got, baba ghanoush and hummus, tasted good and flavorful with it not being too thick or oily. Unreal chicken kabob! My husband and I came here on a Thursday night and from the outside, the place didn't look packed at all. There was plenty of street parking and it seemed rather chill. My husband ordered the combo of Kefta kabob and chicken Schwarma and I ordered the chicken kabob. We paid for our order and then waited for them to call us up. In the 15 minutes that we waited for our food, there must have been at least eight customers either stop by to pick up their orders or sit down to eat. I was really surprised by the foot traffic because you wouldn't have expected it looking from the outside in but I can assure you, it's a very busy place so you know their food is constantly fresh. Their chicken is halal but their beef is not so if that's something you care about, definitely to be mindful of it. The facility itself was very clean and there were additional measures in place to ensure cleanliness of the facility. They did provide high chairs as well for my kiddo and that was a major plus because not all restaurants do. The bathrooms were very clean as well and you could just tell that the owners kept the space very clean and tidy. There was even a wet floor sign on the ground to caution people that the floor might be slippery (due to snowy conditions). Our food arrived quickly and Omgosh so so so so fresh. The baba ghanoush was delicious- my husband said pita inns is better but I don't think so. This one was really good and had that Smokey flavor to it. My husband says it could've been more smoked so I suggest you check it out for yourself because everyone has their own preference! You could tell when something is cooked on the spot vs when it was previously frozen and I can assure you, this chicken was cooked on the spot! It was SO hot but when I bit down on it, I could tell thiwbwww just made fresh and not thawed. The taste was insanely good- it really was finely seasoned and it was marinated the right amount. I didn't even know I was THAT hungry until I started eating. They are extremely generous in their portions- I got 8 pieces of chicken with my meal and it was more than enough as the pieces are pretty big. I'm getting hungry just writing this. My husbands kefta kabob was out of this world and as someone who is not crazy about kefta kabobs, that is a huge compliment. I ever had a better kefta kabob! The rice was plain but that's okay because the meat had so much flavor that the rice was a nice compliment to it. I really enjoyed our meal and I really look forward to our next visit! read more

Got to check out this place yesterday and it was alright. I called in my order at 720pm, 10 minutes before closing, qnd picked up at 735pm. They were nice to take my order last second so I appreciate that alot. I ordered their kefta kebab wrap and I say for $6.50 plus tax, its good. Maybe not the best wrap I ever had, but it was solid. It comes with the red and white sauce you would expect and gives extra flavor to the wrap. Service was prompt and friendly. Maybe I will try their lunch specials if I'm in the area again. They appear to be similar to Pita Inns, at $6.99. Small parking lot, but it works. Give it a try! read more
