Jared came over and looked at what we needed to move, and gave us an estimate. We decided to go with him, and they showed up on time - ready to work, and moved us faster than what they estimated which means it cost less than what he originally estimated - when does that ever happen?! They also were very careful with our furniture, no wall damage to the new place. The guys were very amiable as well, which is always a plus. He takes ALL types of electronic payment forms. I called the other day to get an estimate on moving and the guy who answered the phone said we don't do estimates. He was joking, but it set a strange tone for the rest of the conversation. He took details down and said he'd stop by to give me an estimate but didn't give me a time. I asked him to call me when he knew about when he'd be able to come over and he never called or stopped by. Very strange. I've had the misfortune of having to move multiple times while living in Santa Barbara (four and counting), and Jared has been my reliable, professional, go-to mover every time. He and his crew are always friendly, swift, on time, and extremely skilled at packing and protecting my belongings. I continue to accumulate things, and each time I move I never think it'll all fit, but they guys always get it done. AND, I seem to keep living in weird, hard to reach places on narrow one-way streets or steep inclines and think, again, there's no way the truck will make it to my door, but it always does. We've used Jared's Moving and Piano twice for moves in Santa Barbara, even arranging our first from overseas. Jared was very professional and his movers are prompt, efficient, careful, and good humored. As another reviewer mentioned, they are very patient with the "no not there, over there" back and forth that seems to be part of the moving process. We had nothing damaged, nothing missing and they were very fast. Both times they arrived at least 15 minutes early and were very patient with our questions. They use padded blankets to protect furniture, etc., so were eco-friendly also. They even fixed the rickety stairs and sliding glass door for our first place and offered to help us find someone for additional repairs. read more

Jared was very helpful and prompt with our request for a relocation from Lompoc to Goleta. He sent 3 guys who were very helpful, efficient, fast and friendly. Sterling was the lead and kept checking in with us, did a couple of walk-throughs to ensure what was staying stayed, and to load everything that was coming with us. When they took a slightly longer lunch break, Sterling contacted me via text to provide us with an update and an ETA. Once they had off-loaded everything, they asked if they could help more by moving around boxes to specific rooms/areas. The price was also significantly lower than another bid. These guys were great! I had a really difficult second part of the move... several flights of stairs, hallways, etc... and Jared's guy handled it with no problem and no complaints. Terrible experience! My two friends were at the tail end of a painful breakup and moving out of their shared space. She was living with me in the interim and had called Jared to confirm the day before the scheduled move. She finally heard back at 6 pm the night before that they would indeed be there at 9:30 am, with a truck and 2 movers. The next morning she went to the storage unit and they pulled everything out into the driveway to facilitate the move. At 10 am, they began to worry and started calling Jared's. 11:00 am (now 1.5 hours late, several messages left from all of us, emails sent and no contact from Jared's). Feeling hopeless they luckily rented the one available uhaul from the location and began loading it themselves. At 11:45 am, Jared called (first contact 2.25 hours after scheduled time). He was apparently apologetic but had no real excuse ("We screwed up."). Seems odd as she had talked to him personally the night before. My friend was so distraught I called Jared back on her behalf and introduced myself and my connection to the situation. I asked what could be done at this point and he said he "might be able to meet" us at the 1st location. When asked how much he was going to charge, he actually would not quote a price. He said, "I'm barely going to charge her anything. Not much." When pressed he wouldn't commit to an actual figure. I reminded him of all the details of the situation and he finally committed to saying he would charge her 50% ("since she already had the axxess card deal"). Unacceptable. We debated back and forth for several minutes and he was standoffish, rude and seemed disinterested in the conversation. Completely unprofessional. They already had to pay for a uhaul, call their friends to come help (leaving work to do it) and had wasted hours waiting - charging again was NOT an option. He told me, "I could keep apologizing if you want. But we're already losing money on this deal". How? How could you lose money on a service you have not provided? Fifteen minutes later, my friend called him back to ask if they could come help unload the truck - she was desperate and tired. His response: "I don't think we'll be able to get there. I don't have any movers...." I still haven't received a response to my email from that morning when we were trying to reach someone, anyone from the company to find out what was going on. Jared was unprofessional, unresponsive, condescending, lacking compassion and a terrible communicator. There's too many other worthy movers in this town, don't waste your time here. read more

Jared scheduled a 9-930am move, then came at 8am when I had just woken up. Just slightly inconvenient at that point, but I went with it. The two guys with Jared were friendly, put things where I asked, and didn't break anything. I would recommend just them as movers. However, Jared broke a bunch of my plates, seemed to blame it on the plates ("they attacked my face"...why he was holding them up near his face I don't know...) and didn't apologize, purposely pulled really hard on my couch cushion and broke a velcro strap when I specifically said wait don't pull you have to undo the strap (then not even acknowledging that he broke it, much less apologize...), and overall from phone calls and talking to him seemed kind of condescending. Like when I mentioned where things should go, he was just kind of "yeah I figured" not really listening...then I end up with two boxes clearly labeled "bathroom" and "books" (I instructed them specifically to put those in the 3rd floor bathroom and 2nd floor living room) down in my garage buried under other boxes that were supposed to be there. I don't know what things were like 2 years ago when all the other reviewers gave good ratings, but I've had 2 other moving companies before this and both were better, even the one that didn't speak English and tried to make me pay more than the quote. I highly recommend Jared and his team. I needed to move my son's belongings from Santa Barbara to Colorado last week and the complicating factor was a rather old and very sentimental piano "with a past" that had already broken one of it's wheels. Jared and his team expertly loaded everything, especially the 3 wheeled piano from 1 storage locker into a moving van. I was so impressed I asked if they could combine our 2 storage lockers (which required moving yet another old and very heavy upright piano). They rearranged their schedule to do it the very next day. Day 2 also went great. I will hire them later this year for Day 3 to move that huge upright into it's next home. Hired Jared to help with a move of my grandma-in-law (98 years old). It was a delicate situation and one that had to be carried off smoothly so as to not disturb / upset anyone. I can't say enough about the overall positive tone and demeanor of Jared and his other employee (name starts with a T, can't remember). There was lots of "maybe the couch should go here", "no, maybe over there" kind of stuff and through it all they smiled and were gracious about all of it.
