Ah the nostalgia! A Montreal institution since 1974. I remember coming here when I was a young adult after clubbing with my bruhs and scarfing down some good ol' greasy food after a night of partying & drinking. I came here with my friend and I got to enjoy a nice big SMOKED MEAT sammich and it really hit the spot! The jumbo SMOKED MEAT sammich was generous in size and the meat was tender and tasty. The side-fries was pure perfection being crispy on the outside and fulfilling my carb-only diet softness on the inside. The service was a bit on the slow side but I got to eat at the end... also the pricing is a bit expensive for what it is. Won't go into too much detail where you can get better (it ain't Schwartz!) but I've had better SMOKED MEAT at cheaper prices elsewhere. Will I be back? Absolutely! I want to try their Onion Soup!

I spotted this place that opened 24hours while running some errands nearby. The smoked meat is juicy and not too greasy or salty. Compare to the one's I've tasted I think this one is as good as the smoked meat at Green Spot near Atwater. However, I gave it a 4 star because Green Spot has a bigger portion which comes cheaper.

The place has the looks of old-fashioned smoke meat restaurant. When you go inside you're traveled back to a earlier time. It this case it is nice! The smoked meat was tender and juicy, i order the medium fat. The french fries were a little flimsy. The sauerkraut was alright. The pickle was decent and a good palate cleanser. Good experience pending how far it is from downtown.

So who goes to Montreal and DOES NOT try the Montreal smoked meat sandwich. Well apparently me. I've probably been to Montreal 10 times and NOT ONCE have I tried the Montreal smoked meat. Well finally 10 times in the making I was able to make it somewhere to have a real Montreal smoked meat sandwich. I ordered the Ruben. Super thick super big super filling sandwich. Juicy, tasty, messy. Everything you can possibly ask for in a sandwich. Fries were perfect, crispy and tasty. Service was fast and good. Jarry's will be seeing me the next time im in Montreal 100% Oh and its open 24 hours might I add. (DANGEROUS!!!!!!!!!)

    Slimy, spoiled lettuce

This was not my first time at Jarrys, so i knew it would be foolish to hold them to high standards. I ordered a salad to go. When paying i was a little surprised as my bill came close to 20$ (19something) which i dont mind but i better be getting a damn good salad. When i recieved and opened it i was dissapinted, with both the size and ingredients. But i sucked it up and decided it was just a bad decision and i began to eat it. When i tossed the salad with the dressing i noticed some of the leaves were darker and SLIMY i picked one out (in the pic) and proceded to find many more of these what looked to be spoiled leaves. I went back to the restaurant to show them and at first they tried telling me its normal, "purple lettuce is like that" after a few minutes of back and forth they called their manager. He was frustrated and started arguing with me, defensively saying "you saying i serve bad food?". I told him i wanted my money back but he refused because i paid with my CC. He offered to make me a new one wich i declined because he said they will pick out the pieces that look like that. I then left with no salad and no refund. take your money somewhere else. Jarry used to be good but now since they raised the prices they did not raise their standard which is very dissapointing.

An excellent place to have a good smoked meat sandwich. There are also many other options containing their delicious smoked meat that are very good. I've been eating there for a few years and after trying out many items of their menu, their meat just melt in your mouth whatever what you are ordering! Also, their pickles are the most delicious I have ever eaten! I totally recommand this restaurant.

It's been a staple of St-Leonard. Good food at a great price and some of the best smoked meat in town!

The service was ok. The food was grossly not cooked well. The restaurant was dirty and had flies. I was very unhappy with my experience.

The spring rolls taste like the frozen veggie ones from Asian supermarkets. The salad and rice were also nothing special. However, the for value it's not bad. We got the premium set for 2, which was $120 (tax & tip included). For anyone that's not a big eater, it's a good alternative to gyubee. Service was very attentive although the kitchen was quite slow. Our appetizers came 1 hour after our meats arrived, which was a bit strange. Ambiance is a bit cold since the tables are so close to the doors, so we constantly felt a gust of cold air during our visit.

I thought I had pre-booked a reservation, and we were running late. Parking in this area can be a trick. I dropped my wife off and continued to locate parking. She contacted me and said there was no reservation. I panicked as I parked my truck and sifted through my emails for a confirmation. I hustled the 0.4 miles back to her. When I went in the hostess said it wouldn't be a problem and brought us to a table. My wife later told me she was offered tea while she waited. The waiter was on spot. He knew their menu and provided us with his insights. All the food was Devine. Beautifully laid out and brought out each course in the perfect time. My wife loved the hibachi, she doesn't eat much in general and I do most of the cooking at home. She couldn't get enough of putting items in the hibachi and moving them around. Guess I need a hibachi at home lol. Also my wife is 86 pounds, so she gets cold easy. The hibachi was the perfect personal heater too!! We had a great time together. The ambiance had that perfect Japanese appeal, while still modern. I used to live in Japan so I can be skeptical when it comes to Japanese flair & food. This establishment did not disappoint. So if you are in Montreal, I highly recommend giving this place a go. Side note, pricing is very reasonable considering what is included in packages. And the Saki I had was delicious and looking it up for the going rate they make around $5 per bottle based on what they sell it for and market retail price (place around the corner up charges 110%). So you are more than getting what you pay for in my opinion. And sometimes you just cannot put a price on excellent service! We will definitely be returning when we venture. To Montreal again.

No more wonderful steak Philly on the Friday. Most of what was offered on that daily menu is permanently gone. They added many different poutine that actually existed before but part of a secret menu you could learn from their social network page. Some starter too. They change the recipe of some of the food. The Mac N cheese is now more creamier and the cheese is more present and flavourful. I never had it by itself, but in the poutine Mac TeX, it's a miss for me. It used to be the poutine I always take when I go there, poutine Mac TeX. Tried it 4 times already since the switch, always the same and I don't like it unfortunately. Maybe others don't. From the post they made on Instagram stating that it was now creamier due to popular demand, I guess that's how people like it. But I think people was taking it by itself and not into a poutine (I never see much people eating a mac te when I'm there). Also the new Mac N cheese on the Mac TeX make it you taste nothing except the creamy liquid cheese from the Mac N cheese, nothing else. I normally add the homemade steak sauce available on the table in the poutine and when I tried it with the new recipe, it wasn't good. I also trie the dirty Poutine. I totally forgot what it is. There's like 2 sauce, I think it's meat sauce? Sorry I really forget. It was good, but about half way through, I was done with the taste just like the current Mac TeX. I still finished it though. Again, it's not bad, everyone has different taste and I started by liking it. I had the same experience when eating the smashburger poutine after eating a smash burger. Don't do it, take either one, not both unless your really into the taste of smashburger cause that's the only thing you taste. Last time I went, I took again the smashburger double cheese and bacon, a must for me, and I took a regular poutine. First time in what, 2 years and at least 30 visit that I take the regular one. It was good. I do miss my og Mac TeX but it's a good replacement. The bonus is it cost about 10$ less and fill less, so I was able to take something off the desert menu for the first time. I toon the chocolate cake and it was very good. The service is always good when I go there. It might be a bit a miss when it's overbooked specially if your table is hidden In a corner (happened a bit in the past). The only reason I bring from 5 to 4 stars is only because I prefered the old menu and old recipe. I did talk to a staff last time about the Mac TeX recipe and was told sometime it's because of new chef. I guess he wasn't aware that the recipe actually change, he did seemed new since I hadn't seen him before. I'll talk to jack or one of the owner last time, not to bad mouth, simply to have feedback from customer on the menu.
