Very personable, easy to talk to, knowledgable and smart. On the back office side, there were some issues getting my pre-op test paperwork and then finally scheduling surgery, but I find this is typical of most surgeon offices these days. I wouldn't let it detract from the ultimate care you do get.

He is passionate, honest, and genuinely friendly. You can tell he really cares about what he does, and it shows. He's not on any kind of pedestal--he talks with you, not at you, which makes a big difference. He's also at the top of his field, with patents for orthopedic surgical tools and a technique he developed called the Later Technique. My recovery has gone smoothly, and even my home PT said that Dr. Dungy's patients consistently seem to recover faster than average. That said--no matter how great the surgeon is, you still have to do your part. Knee replacement is a partnership. Put in the work, and you'll be in the best possible hands with Dr. Dungy.

Furthermore, they dont want to immediately jump to surgery either as surgery may not fix it and may incur other issues. Calm down and trust the process, people. With that said, this is for the Porter/Shorter crew concerning my knee. Had ACL surgery long ago by another doctor which has generally done well. However I do get pain in same knee if I run. So I was fully prepared to go in and be told that my knee surgery 15yrs ago didnt quite fix it. But it turns out maybe I just have arthritis. Can't see me for at least ten days and that's in the middle of a period where I will be out of town. What's the point of giving me a Card and saying to call them and they will get me in right away. Since then, I have been bringing my Mom to him with assorted arthritis, shoulder and knee problems. Her problems are complex, but he has been wonderful at diagnosing and treating her many issues. No extra charge for his great sense of humor and enjoyable banter! Mom and I think the world of Dr. Levine, both as an extremely capable physician/surgeon, and as an exceptionally decent and nice human being. I said I wouldn't come back if he didn't get the authorization right then, which he did. I asked if he'd seen a copy of the MRI my doctor had sent. He did not. He then went searching for it and found a typed readout, not an MRI. The first thing he always says to me is, "are you ready for that new knee?". I've told him several times previously that I could not afford the down time. All I need are removal of torn meniscus and a cyst that would greatly reduce the pain. He's just not interested. I will go elsewhere from now on.
