I don't even know where to start with how amazing Dr. Rothbart is. I have been struggling to find an OBGYN that I really clicked with for years with no luck. On our first appointment, he took me into his office and just talked with me for as long as I needed. He made me feel more comfortable than I have ever felt with a doctor, asking me details about each and every thing to make sure he didn't miss anything. Dr. Rothbart is not only a savant in his field, but extremely personable and charismatic. He REALLY cares about the wellbeing of his patients, and it shows. After my first appointment, he sent me a handwritten letter saying that he was really excited about the plan of attack we came up with in the office and that I should not hesitate to email him with any concerns -- I mean, that kind of service is unparalleled. I can't wait to go back to see Dr. Rothbart and I am ecstatic that I finally found a doctor as incredible as he is. read more

Ok, I just have to say it: Dr. Rothbart is simply the BEST! I went to him for 5+ years and, now that I moved to another state (in early pregnancy, no less!), I wish I could hologram him here, or something ;) He's a nice, kind, smart man. He listens and doesn't rush you, answers all your questions (as many times as you need) and makes you feel at ease. I love that he's calm and not an alarmist, even when things go wrong. When we suffered a miscarriage, his support and help throughout the process helped me -and my husband, too- greatly. He's very empathic and sweet, when you most need it; but, he won't sugarcoat things, which I think is super important. When I got pregnant again, as we were preparing to move, my biggest worry was to find another doctor like him. But, even though I think I'll find a good one, I'm sure he/she won't compare. I love Dr. Rothbart! And, if I could fly to LA, to see him - especially during the rest of this pregnancy- I def would... so, if you're looking for an OBGYN in the LA area, do yourself a favor and look no further! read more

Dr. Rothbart is kind, extremely knowledgeable, and believes that women know their bodies. He is very respectful of a woman's needs especially when pregnant, which is so important to feel supported. He is one of my top referrals as a HypnoBirthing childbirth educator and doula. Over the years all the parents that had Dr. Rothbart as their doctor were so happy with him as their care provider. I guess I'm giving the unpopular review, but only 3 stars from me. Dr. Rothbart is great. Has great bedside manner, gives me the time to voice my concerns, and request specific tests, but the nurses who work up front and handle all the calls are just so rude and unfriendly, it's almost laughable. Any time I call to make an appointment or ask any question, or even when I get my vitals taken before seeing the Dr., I am treated like I am the biggest inconvenience for them. I've had issues with billing and been told to call my insurance who tells me I have to call this office again, who then says they did everything correctly and I have to call my insurance. It's exhausting and disappointing, and just strange to me that such a friendly and kind Dr. would have such a poor support staff. It's honestly not worth it. Maybe they'll read this and make changes. I'll be looking for another Gyno. read more

Dr. Rothbart is an amazing doctor. I have been with him through two of my pregnancies and was very happy with my care.

He is the best! Great bedside manner. I, too, had some communication issues with the office staff in the beginning, but nothing that couldn't be solved. All visits were very efficient. He is probably of no relation to Dr. Jason Rothbart, but who can say? =~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~ I was referred to Dr. Rothbart by my fertility doctor, who admonished me for not having an OB/GYN (versus a general practitioner, who for years had been doing my "lady part" exams). So I booked an appointment; I was able to get in within less than a month of calling. Dr. Rothbart first met with me in his office before performing my exam. He was upbeat, friendly, soothing, and instantly put me at ease. I wanted to give him a hug! The exam itself took only 2.5 seconds (only a slight exaggeration). He assured me that he would call me personally to deliver the test results, whether negative or positive. I nearly fell off my chair with astonishment (and delight). I don't know about you, but these days, I almost never get a call from my regular doctor..... for example, a recent conversation with my G.P. about putting me on a new medication regimen took place entirely over e-mail (to my displeasure and disappointment, and despite my suggestion that we get on the phone). So when I found myself listening to a voicemail from the cheerful Dr. Rothbart telling me that my test results were normal, I couldn't wait to sing his praises. I haven't really utilized Dr. Rothbart's services much yet, but I can't think of anyone else I'd rather have "on my team" (as Dr. Rothbart put it during my visit) for any future needs. POSTSCRIPT: 1 day after writing this review, I received a hand-written (yes, I said *HAND WRITTEN*) note from Dr. Rothbart himself, personally welcoming me as his patient. I think I'm in love. :) A couple of useful tips: - Rather than paying $8 to valet park beneath the building, try finding street parking at a meter. My parking was only $2 for 2 hours (and I didn't need that long). The receptionist even offered to feed the meter for me (!!). - I was kept waiting nearly 40 minutes before actually being examined by Dr. Rothbart, so bring a good book or at least, set your expectations (and your meter) accordingly. read more

Ugh, I couldn't decide on the rating. Here is the deal. I have seen Dr. Rothbart twice. I will give him 5 stars for my first appointment last year but only 3 stars for when I saw him this time. I am afraid that my disappointment is due to his sudden popularity on yelp. This is what happened to my previous ob-gyn. I left her because she had more patients coming in that she could handle thanks to all 5stars reviews. I was very surprised and disappointed how little time each patient gets with Dr.R. I noticed on the sign-in form at the front desk that the woman who signed after me had her appt scheduled 15 minutes after mine. That is definitely not enough time especially that I see him only once a year. I was also hoping to talk to the doc in his office before the exam but the only time I got was in my gown in the exam room after the Pap. What I like about dr.R is that he seems genuinely kind, has great bedside manner and actually personally calls you with any results. He is great with making a good first impression- I loved getting the postcard in the mail after my very first visit. I only hope that the great first impression would be a lasting one in all possible ways. read more

I love my OBGYN!! Dr.Rothbart is awesome!! I was scared at first not knowing what OBGYN to choose so I asked my internist and she quickly recommended Dr.Rothbart , she also said you will love him, and yes I do! He is the sweetest and smartest doctor . I felt safe knowing he was taking care of me. I am a first time mom and my hormones have been crazy plus I've been anxious and scared about labor, but w him I felt confident and less scared. The staff was also very helpful and caring. I recommend him anytime , he is very efficient and sends you to do extensive testing to rule out any abnormalities or problems. After that he does minimal ultrasounds which is good. This man is a wonderful, wonderful doctor. My first pregnancy I went to midwives, and they were great too, but due to my sons breach position a natural pregnancy was out of the question. I went to the midwives backup, Dr. Klein. Informative and funny, I liked Dr. Klein so much I decided to back to him directly and skip the midwives when I was pregnant with my second. Unfortunately, half way through my pregnancy Dr. Klein passed away. I had the luck of having the first appointment with Dr. Klein the morning after his passing. Emotional, pregnant and numb from the news, Dr. Rothbart walks in. His tender mannerisms and comforting ways didn't just get me through that day, it got me through the pregnancy. Dr. Rothbart is an excellent doctor, my second c-section went extremely well and he improved what was already a small scar. It's not easy for me to get to his office, but I will never see another OB while I live in Los Angeles. read more

My wife and I just completed the journey of the birth of our first child with Dr. Rothbart. Throughout the process, he thoroughly answered each and every question my wife and I had. He is responsive and readily available- a rarity among doctors these days. He is so pleasant that we enjoy being around him. He has become not only our physician but we consider him a great friend. Dr. Rothbart is the best OBGYN in LA. Believe me, I had multiple! I have been in his care for a year now since I found out I was pregnant, he delivered my son in September and I can't imagine going through all of it without him. Here is the deal: 1)He respects your time. My appointment was only cancelled once throughout my entire pregnancy due to someone delivering the baby. I was always in and out within 20-30 minutes time frame depending on the type of appointment. Forget waiting another hour after your actual appointment time like some other practices do. A huge plus for me! 2) He has amazing bedside manners, always listens to you, addresses your concerns, answers all questions. The greeting card in mail was so sweet. We also got another one after the delivery. 3) He personally calls you with all test results and calls you back when you have an issue or a question over the phone. 4)For those looking for a Dr. to support your natural childbirth plans, he is your guy! I had my son through 100% natural unmedicated delivery and Dr. Rothbart was the key in making it happen- he supported us along the way and made it possible in the hospital. He actually works with midwives so you will be in good care and fully supported. I also had a doula attending the birth and he was cool about it as well. 5) His staff are all very nice and knowledgeable, they always follow up and help resolve issues before they get to him. Dr. Rothbart is great at what he does. Amazing bedside manner, patient and easy to talk to. He never made me feel like my questions were dumb- even the ones on a Saturday evening when I panicked about something minor. The office is also really efficient; you'd never know this guy delivered babies all day as I never had to wait more than 10 minutes or so (at the most) for my appointment. And when it came time to deliver my daughter, he did an amazing job, was so kind and caring and made me feel reassured about the whole process. Absolutely no complaints. read more

When my longtime & beloved doctor retired, I was torn whether to return to see his associate. My fears were instantly alleviated! You know a doctor is good if he comes recommended by midwives! I adore this man. Dr. Rothbart is respectful, kind, truly respects the birth process, motherhood and a mother's right to make choices and be informed during her labor and delivery. Even though I was using a midwife during my pregnancy, I ended up needing an OB as well. I struggled to find a doctor I liked, and after firing 5 different doctors, I found Dr. Rothbart. I actually cried with relief after my first meeting with him because my past experiences with other doctors had been so frustrating and demoralizing. If you are seeking a doctor who will listen to you, not rush you, not push you to make choices you are not comfortable with, and is actually there to help you and guide you, this is your guy. His office staff is friendly, efficient, compassionate and helpful. Ive never had to wait more than 5 minutes, and once in the room with Dr. Rothbart I never, ever feel rushed. Where to begin... Dr. Rothbart is the best of the best. He is patient, compassionate and I trust him emphatically. He makes you feel like an individual and really helped make my pregnancy an amazing experience. His energy is always positive and calming. I was pretty nervous towards the last few weeks of my pregnancy, but Dr. Rothbart was always there for me. My labor and delivery got complicated at times and I always felt so safe in his care. The support continued for me post partum. Hormones can do a number on you and he was there to help me figure things out both physically and emotionally. My doctor, Irwin Frankel, sadly died last year and Dr. Rothbart took over his practice. I really was not interested a a celeb doctor and thought twice before calling for a checkup. Dr. Rothbart had certainly been a blessing for my 2nd pregnancy. I wish I had him for my first born as well. His bedside manner was very pleasant and every visit was a comfortable one. He's a very personable doctor. I got a handwritten card when he 1st took me on as a patient and another one after he delivered my son. Every call about my results or anything pertaining to my pregnancy was a personal one directly from him. The office was big, nice and clean. His visits were always on time and quick! After my initial appointment with Dr Rothbart, I received a hand-written card from him,welcoming me to his practice! What doctor takes he time to do something like that? He really does make patient comfort and happiness a priority in his office. The staff is friendly and helpful. Wait times are usually quite short (rarely if ever more than 20 minutes)...I am typically seen within a few minutes of arriving. I have never had an issue needing to reschedule an appointment. And questions (via phone or email) are always handled promptly. I am SO glad that I became a patient of his prior to becoming pregnant. He has been a use source of support during my pregnancy. My husband and I want a natural birthing experience and Dr R is totally on board. Other women in my birth class have expressed frustratin with their docs, but this whole process he has made me feel safe and secure - always answering questioning throughou and explaining things clearly. He never makes me feel like a question or concern is silly. I'm so excited to give birth knowing that I have Doctor Rothbart on my team. Dr Rothbart made me feel extremely comfortable. The wait was not bad, I have definitely waited loger at other OBGNY appointments. I appreciated that once you were back in the room and undressed the wait for Dr. Rothbart to come in was not long at all. I was referred to Dr. Rothbart from a friend and a co-worker. When I first met him I really liked his energy. My Husband and I got a good feeling about him. We couldn't be happier with our decision. My due date is in February, and everything has been great so far. Dr. Rothbart truly cares about his patients. Having your first child there are a lot of unknowns and stressors. Here is your new gyno! I've been searching for someone new after my awesome doc of 10 years retired. I've made compromises: 1) a good doctor but always late, 2) a bad doc but on time, 3) a good doc but a nasty staff, 4) a bad doc with an efficient staff, 5) an OK doc with OK staff who always runs 45 mins late...name it, I've dealt with it. My search is over: he is kind, thorough, he LISTENS, he ANSWERS, he puts me at ease. His staff is kind, efficient, they take my insurance (Cigna PPO), the office runs on time. His location is outstanding, right in Century City, parking in the building. A fish tank to calm your nerves. He said he would call me with my test results, either way. I have heard this before. Guess what? HE ACTUALLY DID. He does not concern himself merely with gynecology, but with the totality of a woman's health. And to top it off, HE sent ME A THANK YOU NOTE! You got me, Dr. Rothbart - I am your patient until you close your doors. read more

Dr. Rothbart is just wonderful! I was planning a home birth and Dr. Rothbart was my back-up doctor. I was a little nervous before the first visit because some doctors want to give you a lecture about home birth, he was just fabulous! I was already in my 8th month so I had a good sized file that my midwives had faxed over. When I went into his office, he had already read through my entire file and remembered all the details! He was sweet and comfortable to talk to and totally all for me having my baby at home. As it turned out, I could not have my baby at home and Dr. Rothbart met us at the hospital to deliver my baby. We tried everything, but my water was broken so we didn't have all the time in the world and I eventually had a c-section. Dr. Rothbart was very kind and anticipated every concern I had about the surgery. Just before he began the operation, he put his hand on my shoulder and said: "Bonnie, when you hear your baby cry for the first time and when you walk him to school for the first day of kindergarten, it won't matter that it was a caesarean." He was absolutely right and so sensitive and encouraging. He did a fabulous job and my recovery was quick and relatively painless with a teeny tiny scar where no one will ever see it :) When we try for our next baby, I'll skip the midwives and go straight to Dr. Rothbart! read more

Hands down the best OB/GYN ever!!! My first visit was a sit down consultation where Dr. Rothbart answered every single question that I had. I am over 40 and we were considering getting pregnant and I of course had done my own "research" on Google and was terrified. Best advice he gave me, step away from Google and call him with questions. I am now 42 and about to deliver a baby boy next month. Dr. Rothbart has a fantastic bedside manner, we have never been kept waiting, he always calls me with test results, super patient, never rushed when we see him, the list is endless. Oh, and we live an hour away from his office but we don't complain. Only the best for our baby to be. I too wish that he could be my doctor for everything. read more

Today I had my first appointment with Dr. Rothbart. He spent 25-30 min speaking to me about all of my health concerns. He never spoke down to me and is a very good listener. In my 33 years I have never had such a flawless appointment. I plan on having children in the next few years and I will definatly feel comfortable under his care.
