Jason & Hilary are fantastic. And you should absolutely use them to capture a special day. We used Jason for our wedding and engagement photography. We told them that photography was our second priority for the whole wedding (behind venue). We wanted our photos to capture the moments our memories would fade. We wanted them to capture the guests' emotions, the secret moments we shared between all the craziness of our wedding, and we wanted our photos to capture our personalities so that it didn't feel staged, but felt authentic to our relationship. And they delivered. We are so, so happy with our wedding and engagement photos on the beach! Hilary was super helpful on the day - she helped me (Bride) put earrings in because my nails were too long. She helped the boys place their ties in the right spot. She held my dress while we walked so it didn't get all dirty. She was able to predict little needs we all had before we even knew we needed them. Hilary is amazing. Jason is such a magnificent photographer. He loves to capture the world happening around a couple - the trees, the water, the mountains. If you want to feel like you're a lucky human dropped in the middle of a stunning landscape painting, he is your photographer. Also, we got all of our photos so promptly. They were edited beautifully. Jason doesn't over edit and make it feel ridiculous. He left the little realities of me and my husband that make us... Us. And I love that. We would strongly recommend not hiring Jason Berry Photography. We hired this vendor for our wedding, and we had a negative experience both in terms of the photography product we received and also in terms of the vendor's unprofessional conduct towards us as clients. We were initially most excited for Jason Berry amongst all our vendors, but there were a number of issues, incidents and disappointments. In terms of product, we were displeased with our gallery. His skill is obvious and other albums gorgeous, so we were frustrated and upset to see less than five bridal portrait shots, and all taken in a messy area, in addition to other missing or poor photos. He circulated a survey to us before the wedding, and we identified exactly the kinds of photos we wanted, among other preferences. We selected the "Wedding Collection 3" package for $3200, with 8 hours with two photographers, and we requested the advertised 10% off from the Wedding Wire discount. Part of the package included a "Wedding day timeline and engagement session consultation," yet the photographer was unresponsive and only available to consult while we were driving to Rehearsal Dinner two days beforehand. We exchanged an engagement shoot typically required in the package, and included one extra hour the day-of where we hoped would accommodate for more time to take portrait shots, especially since we explicitly planned the reception to be a five-minute drive from the church. But many photos were un-usable in terms of blinking, looking away, etc. At the reception, he promised us sneak peaks in the next few days. We were excited. We reached out to him a few days after the wedding, but he told us he was unavailable to provide us with sneak peaks that week due to personal commitments. He made us feel like a nag, yet it's the vendor's responsibility to communicate a change in expectation. We later checked instagram and noticed he'd posted photos of us but didn't share or tag us (even though we shared this info in the survey). This leads into our experience with his professional conduct and customer service, which was upsetting and insulting. Out of excitement, we agreed in advance to purchase an album for $850, but based on the issues above, we requested a refund over a phone call. We simply did not have enough of a variety of usable photos in the gallery to provide a selection to him to create an album. (He also initiated but never followed up on scheduling a meeting where we could go through the photos together when he initially shared the album with us.) Jason refused, and he complained it was due to my wife's church's "shitty lighting." Again, the premises were large, he had time to check out the lighting beforehand and come up with the game plan. We suggested beforehand to take portraits at the reception venue, which he said wouldn't be necessary. So, he offered to have us choose "a few frames and canvases" instead of the album. Yet when we did from his website, earnestly spending a great deal of time picking out an equal value of frames and canvases, he chastised us for choosing too many. He provided no guidelines, so we assumed we could choose a selection equal to the price of the album (850). He became very aggressive and confrontational and still chose not to provide us with any direction (e.g. product dimensions) besides sending over 2 file names. We would urge prospective clients to avoid Jason Berry Photography. We did not receive the services paid for or expected, nor were we treated with respect. A photographer could preserve life's most precious occasions. Regrettably, our experience made this occasion more stressful, painful and very frustrating. Jason was recommended to me by my mom. She attended a wedding where he was the photographer and while she was there, she showed me pictures of his work. I instantly became obsessed. I liked that his portraits were more like art and when it was my turn to get married, I knew I wanted to work with him. We did our consultation and I immediately noticed he had a very calm, reassuring tone that I liked because I knew I would need that for my wedding day. Sure enough, the day of my wedding I had pre-wedding anxiety and he and Hilary did everything in their power to help me, my husband and family feel as calm and comfortable as possible. Enough can't be said about Hilary- she was heaven sent. She helped me with my dress, had positive words of encouragement and overall was just a gem to have the day of my wedding. I truly cannot say enough about Jason and Hilary. They went above and beyond in every sense of the word and I will always appreciate them for that. We love them so much that they are now basically our family photographers. Overall- if you're looking for a photography team that can do well in all environments (snow, beach, hot weather) and are willing to go above and beyond for the perfect shot, I would highly recommend Jason and Hilary. read more

Five stars and a "great" rating on Yelp do not even come close to conveying the talent, skill, personality, and character that Jason and Hilary provided. I am extremely camera shy, uncomfortable in social situations, and awkward at the best of times. I woke up on the morning of our engagement shoot with a lump of dread in my chest at the thought of somehow messing up or doing the wrong thing. I ended that night excitedly telling my now wife that I wanted Jason and Hilary to conduct any photo-shoot I'd ever be involved in. Jason and Hilary are so friendly, instructive, and patient with posing and shooting us, and their inspiration and clear ability while shooting is evident even to someone like me with zero photography experience. Watching the two of them take a seemingly normal looking backdrop, adjust their equipment, and create something that looks like it should be hanging in an art gallery, all in a matter of seconds, was an incredible sight to behold. The very best compliment I can give though, is that they are both incredible human beings. That goes above and beyond simply their ability as photographers. It was the smaller things, like always checking that we were hydrated, calming our frayed nerves before the ceremony, even just the little reminders to enjoy each other and the moment. We are so impressed and SO GLAD we chose Jason as our photographer! While I reached out to a ton of photographers on the search for our December wedding, I knew we wanted someone who was good at night time lighting (since the majority of our wedding will be in the evening). After seeing Jason's portfolio, meeting him over a Skype call, and doing our engagement shoot last week, we feel like we got a jackpot photographer. Jason is Amazing! His work is incredible and he is really easy to work with. During our search for our wedding photographer we were a bit nervous because we waited until only a few months before the wedding. If you are debating getting a wedding photographer....I'd strongly suggest to do it. We almost decided not to but ended up doing it last minute and we are so happy we did. It is soooo cool seeing Jason's amazing photos of us and it really made the day feel like a "real wedding" when we were doing all the fun photos with family/friends and the wedding party! Jason was quick to respond and was very flexible with initial meeting times. He said we could all Skype or phone call and we decided a phone call was more than enough. Jason was very detailed and a true professional at his craft. We were planning everything ourselves so we were a bit overwhelmed but Jason took about 30 min explaining everything and helping me adjust our timeline to create a better flow for the day. The day of the wedding he was early to the venue and messaged both bride and groom to make sure we had everything set up and if there was any last minute changes. As the groom, it was my first time being professionally photographed so I had know idea what to expect or what I should be doing... I let Jason know and he totally took over and walked myself and my bride through everything. There was no hesitation from Jason, he knew exactly what photos he needed and when to take them. He had us do all kinds of creative poses and took us around the venue to multiple "random" spots to make sure we had the best results from all angles. He was fun and relaxed the entire time which helped everyone else get in the same mood. He made sure he captured all of the essential shots and checked in with us throughout the night to make sure everything was going smoothly and to check if we wanted to add any additional last minute photos. We were first drawn to Jason Berry Photography from his portfolio of night shots. With our full wedding ceremony and reception to take place outdoors in the evening/night, we needed someone who was experienced in taking photos in low light conditions. Jason and his second photographer exceeded our expectations! My now-husband and I are more private folks, but Jason's easy-going approach put us at ease in front of the camera. ** PREPARATION HIGHLIGHTS ** -- Where we lacked in vision, he came with clear direction. Jason had great ideas for shots in both our beachside engagement shoot and at our wedding. I had originally thought that I did not need too much time with "Detail" Shots nor "Getting Ready"-- Jason assured us that we would want time dedicated to that part of the day, even if we were shyer folks. We are so glad that we did! Some of the best photos came from those parts of our day. -- Jason captured a beautiful and impossible photo for our engagement shoot, involving both my now-husband and I, AND our (2) dogs, all looking at the camera. Enough said on this point. Haha :) -- Jason uses a portal on Honeybook, which makes for easy correspondence and retrieving the contract and any open balances. ** DAY-OF HIGHLIGHTS ** -- Jason and his second photographer came very much well-prepared and on time. We did not have ring boxes prepared for the "Detail" shots, but they came with multiple colors for us to choose from for the shots. We were also lucky that Jason had prior experience of shooting at our venue before, so he already knew key locations for photos. -- Wonderfully clear directions for photos. They made sure to look out for not just us as the couple (e.g. "bend your elbow to help make the pose more delicate"), but also for all our family and friends (e.g. "go ahead and place your hands in your pockets for the shot") -- They were incredibly efficient in taking all of our listed "must have" photos. This was not an easy feat as both sides of the wedding party had 6 people each, along with extended families that required group shots, as well. Formal table visits shots were also essential to us as part of our cultural practice, and Jason was able to squeeze every single one in. -- Jason and his second photographer became more than just the photographers on our special day. They became my rescuers. When I realized my rookie mistake of not ensuring that my wedding dress enabled me to move as freely as I needed to for our first dance, Jason's second photographer sprinted to her car for safety pins to adjust my off-the-shoulder dress sleeves. This adjustment stayed in place perfectly for the rest of the night. Crisis averted! ** FINAL THOUGHTS ** Jason Berry Photography understands how meaningful the photos are and takes the time to get to know you as a couple. This October my lovely wife and I had the pleasure of working with Jason Berry and his wonderful staff. We can honestly say, Jason was an important and stress free part of our wedding planning process. Trying to find the perfect photographer is very difficult. We actually met with five different photographers, before we found Jason on a wedding web site. Not only did my wife and I enjoy our first meeting with Jason, but we compared his web site work with other photographers and were blown away by his style, grace and overall vision. During our engagement session, my wife and I had a great time following Jason's lead. He made the session fun loving, easy going, and most importantly, memorable. Later in day, he sent us one of his favorite shots, and it was beautiful. Shortly after, we viewed all of the photos, and we couldn't have been happier. This was huge for us, knowing we could count on Jason based off our engagement session, and Jason didn't disappoint. Even though this particular October day was very hot, Jason encouraged us to work through the heat and made use of the entire day. What we especially appreciated is, my wife and I were able to kiss, smile, flirt and whisper into each other's ears, while Jason worked in the background to get us into the perfect places and seamless poses. It was a long day of wedding activities, but taking pictures with Jason was wonderful. Later in the night, Jason took us out for a night shot. We had Jason shoot our wedding on March 1, 2014, in LA. From the beginning of our collaboration he was a pleasure to work with. We met up a few times before the wedding to discuss what our expectations are and the best way for Jason to meet them. He helped us create the timeline for the wedding day and even created a Pinterest board with me to see what my favorite poses were and what style of pictures I liked. I am so very grateful to have found Jason Berry Photography in my last-minute search for a wedding photographer following a series of frustrations with the "friend-of-a-friend" my husband and I had originally planned on. Jason responded to my inquiry promptly and I was absolutely relieved that he would be available on our day - only a few weeks out! If you want artistic beautiful photography, Jason is your man. His ability to deal with different lighting and setting is awesome. Our wedding location posed some issues with tons of light coming in through windows, and the photos were beautiful!! Pictures on the beach and pier at sunset were perfect!! read more

By far the best and coolest photographer I have ever had the pleasure of working with. He has done the maternity photos for our new baby and the family photos when she was born. Both came out absolutely amazing. I got dragged to the maternity photos and was not stoked at all. Within the first 15 minutes we were having a blast and shot for hours. When it came time to do family photos I refused to cooperate with my girlfriend unless Jason did them. Again we had a blast. Will definitely be using him for the wedding and any other future events.
