The ringleader guy was very passionate, and I could tell he wanted this to be a great experience for all of us. Some feedback for him because he deserves to know. 1) The directions on where to meet were not clear. We went to the spot in the email and walked straight into a wedding. We embarrassingly went to one ballroom(?) and had the wrong spot and then found the correct ballroom that had a clue on the door. Please double-check the venue and give us clear directions so we are not walking all over the place aimlessly. 2) Make sure the actors don't give it away before we even walk in the door. The person who ended up being the "killer" came from an area that was comparable to "backstage". This was in full view of the 80 or so of us in line waiting for the locked doors to open. We all came from the assorted parking lots but this one person came from somewhat of an employee entrance and stood out like a sore thumb. There was another actor that gave themselves away in line by commenting "some fresh meat" or some such phrase regarding the lot of us that made me think, hmm, here is another actor. Lo and behold, it was. The food is bleh, but that is not the fault of these folks. It is the food served at the establishment and it kind of tastes like a mid-level wedding (mashed potatoes were realllly bad - like, heat lamp or boxed tasting). Bread in basket? Cold and hard. Salad was good and fresh. Dessert? So so. I see another review that says they didn't get dessert--I can tell you why they said that. The waiters didn't always bring all the food out. They forgot our salmon and I had to flag someone down. Had I not, it never would have come. Also--there is a bar. I thought it was included and told my guests to go ahead and get drinks. Turns out it was a cash bar! The website said full bar but did not say CASH BAR--please specify this! Now for the show--- we were spoiled, but it was still fun. It was definitely very loud as someone else pointed out, but I don't know if there is a way around that. The thing that soured me more than anything else was the giant envelopes on the table that were asking for extra gratuity for the actors! No. Just no. Bake that into the price. I noticed when I was buying tickets that I could pay an extra hundred to have one of my guests be a suspect (I saw this live with some people at the show, and it was very funny actually.) Maybe those people were the ones encouraged to tip extra--but they ostensibly paid an extra hundred already. This was in very poor form, since I paid hundreds of dollars for my party to attend this event in the first place. I was supposed to put more in the envelope? It was not covered? This reminded me of opening a birthday invite and having a registry card fall out, or someone throwing themselves a second baby shower. All and all a good time if the kinks can be worked out. It…read morewas billed as someone in a costume will come out, engage the crowd, and there will be a sing along etc. The lady came in a costume, spoke to the audience for maybe 10 seconds, and then just played the movie! That's it. I basically paid $120 for my wife and kids to drive 1 hour to see the movie, when I could have played it at my house. My wife calls me, furious. So I call the box office...they told me as a 1 time courtesy, they will refund me in 7 business days. It's been almost a month. I received nothing. So I called them just now only to be told I won't be getting a refund. The rep even acknowledged there were a lot of angry people. I encourage everyone to do a chargeback on their cards if you attended. It was straight up theft. $120 to play the little Mermaid Movie. And then the box office lied to me about the refund. This is how they billed it " Make a splash with an unforgettable, family-friendly event where you become part of the story! Sing-Along Live! brings Disney's beloved classic The Little Mermaid to the big screen with on-screen lyrics, audience participation moments, and a wave of musical fun for all ages. This event will be hosted live by our costumed Mermaid Princess." When in reality they just played the movie. Shame on the production company, and shame on the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza for letting these people scam everyone.

I must say, the theatre we were in to see the show was veryyyyy comfortable. The seats are spacious and soft and comfy to sit in. The theatre was smaller than I expected, but still fit so many people. Lighting and sound are great. Bar service is easy too, there were 3 different bars to choose from so we were able to head to the ones with the shortest lines. Drinks are a bit pricey though. Wonderful show, so much fun!!!! We recently treated our six year old granddaughter to her first live theater experience here for…read morethe performance of "Annie". We hoped that she would enjoy it, and indeed she did. It was so sweet to have her alternate at times from laying her head on Dear Hubby's shoulder and then mine. Sometimes she would sit up tall and lean forward at certain times in the show. After, she said, "I want to stay until the next one", thinking that the cast would be doing a second show right away the same day. She doesn't yet realize how much energy and effort goes into a performance like this, but I loved the positive reaction. The theater, while small scale and local, nonetheless does a great job of putting on entertainment which captivates their audiences. It's a blessing to have this venue close to home, away from the hassles and expense of going into L.A. Ticket prices are reasonable, parking is free, and the staff is friendly. The large cast managed to sing, dance, and act their way through a beloved classic musical on a smallish stage and made it work. Kudos to the visual technology that makes set decoration a new type of visual art. We're looking forward to seeing "Footloose" at the Arts Center soon.

Our daughter loves to sing at home all the time. So I thought we'd see if she actually wants to do…read moreit for others! We started her at 6 years old in their 'Mini' program for younger kids. She absolutely loves it, and the enrichment and growth we've seen in her confidence is just wonderful. I cannot say enough about the owners and staff. They are warm people who clearly enjoy what they do, and put their heart and souls into the kids. Now, 4 years later, at the age of 10, our daughter has been in numerous BTP shows, Annie, Matilda, Shrek, and other performances in front of numerous audiences. It's given her the confidence to be in her school talent shows and get kudos from many of her teachers and classmates on her performances. Beyond the classes she takes with BTP, the value of working on these productions with a team of people to create something bigger than themselves is a lesson in life. The ability to stand in front of an audience with confidence will serve her for many years to come. This is FIVE STARS! Every American needs to come to and…read moreexperience the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library and Museum. It is life changing and will challenge you. So much history. If you were alive then, or younger now and learning about this time in our country's history, this is a once in a lifetime must do. Ronald Reagan's entire life history, his career as an actor, Governor of California, and then President of the U.S.A. is presented. But so much more. This time in our nation's history was well presented, the good and the bad is all presented. Lots of amazing artifacts, Reagans actual writings, historical speeches and his love of his wife Nancy is all there. But the coolest part of the tour is in the pavilion, they have the actual Air Force One jet President Reagan and 7 other presidents traveled on and you can tour the inside of it too, very cool! Also, there is the Marine One helicopter he used, a collection of presidential limo's and secret service vehicles. In the gardens is an actual piece of the Berlin wall and the burial place of President Reagan and his wife Nancy. My wife and I had no idea how big this place was, we got there at 10am and barely finished at 5pm when they closed. Plan to be there all day, we were wiped out when we finished. They have a good restaurant, we got the Ruben, and it was delicious, but the restaurant is expensive. There is so much to this place, too much to write here, you have to go.

It was a little "West" for some people, but 4pm on Friday, and everyone got there without too much traffic. When we arrived, the windows were open, a nice breeze came through, there was a great wine selection, and Greg was an awesome host (educating the newbies about the wines, talking LPs). My team picked out LPs from Phil Collins to Drake to Sade to Amy Winehouse that Greg put on while we enjoyed the afternoon. Yes, it's a great place to do wine flights, or weekend evening live music, or just a bottle with friends, but the work happy hour hit a wonderfully refreshing note - and the entire crew loved it. I highly suggest opting for Nabu as a great happy hour place.
