Attended a lovely event here recently. I'm so glad I did because I enjoyed the space and the wine. The intimate wine bar is excellent for a bougie night out. They have a number of reds and whites to pick from. I had the cab Sauvignon and was quite happy with it. We brought in our own food. They offer live music on Saturday nights. I organized a work happy hour for my teamon a Friday; we're all over the LA area, and I wanted some place different, fun, open, interactive and cool vibes. It was a little "West" for some people, but 4pm on Friday, and everyone got there without too much traffic. When we arrived, the windows were open, a nice breeze came through, there was a great wine selection, and Greg was an awesome host (educating the newbies about the wines, talking LPs). My team picked out LPs from Phil Collins to Drake to Sade to Amy Winehouse that Greg put on while we enjoyed the afternoon. Yes, it's a great place to do wine flights, or weekend evening live music, or just a bottle with friends, but the work happy hour hit a wonderfully refreshing note - and the entire crew loved it. What a fun place to visit with a bachelorette party of 15! It's was a hot day so we appreciated being indoors, but the windows were open so we got to enjoy the fresh air and warm breeze. Wont return. Bad customer service. Went up to the bar with my friend and we ordered club soda's. We purchased the club sodas they had. I gave a 20 % tip. The band was ok. The place wasn't at all full. We sat at the bar and after 10 min we were told we weren't allowed to sit st the bar because we weren't ordering wine. There we're available seats at the bar!! What a fun night! My wife and I stayed nearby at the Hyatt and found this place walking distance. Upon arrival, we quickly noticed the live music playing. A full band delivering a bunch of hits and deep tracks. We were lucky and given a table right at the front. We opted for a bottle of the Pinot Noir. For the price, it made sense to do that as they are premium. The staff were in great spirits and very accommodating. They were enjoying the music as well as everyone else. By the end of the night, everyone was dancing. It was a really good time. The 30 minute encore was a pleasant finale. Would recommend and come back. read more

Came here recently for first time on 80's cover band night and was super packed and music was LOUD. We were able to get glasses of wine fairly quickly at bar but ended up having to go to back room as there was no where to stand or sit in the front. They do have tv's in back so could see the band while still hearing music from back room. Cab was good but music def doesn't need to be quite so loud. Was kind of an odd night as we saw the tail end of some fight between some women (a customer and bar tender) that caused customer to be thrown out back door. Not sure what happened but it threw the ambiance off in there for sure. Not sure I would be back...maybe a non-band night? read more

Went to see a cover band. There are tables all around, yet they're situated close to one another which makes navigating from one side of the room to the other a bit challenging once people are seated. And there were more people than table seats, so plenty of milling about. For what is supposed to be a winery, they only have 7 wines available. And since they were each described as being from different parts of California, I was unclear as to if any were from this particular winery. The price per glass was a bit high. There was a single Chardonnay that was $15. The rest started at $22 and went up. No other drinks were offered - so if you felt like changing it up, you couldn't. There is no table service - you have to get your drink from the bar. And the suggested gratuity that pops up on the iPad starts at 18%. Why?? I have to get my own drink and then the bartender does nothing more than pour this overpriced liquid from a bottle to a glass. If there was a mixologist creating a special Old Fashion, that's worth a 20% gratuity. This was not that. That said, there's no cover charge for what seems to be nightly entertainment. Though there is a 2-drink minimum. Personally, I'd rather pay a $10 cover and have a reasonably priced drink, along with some variety. Though the place was packed. There's a lunch truck of sorts out back, and they do offer some good pizza. But it's not part of the winery so that would be a different review. No other munchies or food is offered. Didn't interact with or see anyone but those 2-3 people who poured the wines (I'm avoiding calling them bartenders). My Sangiovese was delicious. But for $23-$24 it should be. And I heard no complaints about the Syrah. Will I go again? They did have a good lineup of music and comedy showing on their calendar, so I'm sure I will. I'll just be aware of the setup. read more

Should be zero stars. Possibly the worst example of hospitality in my life. We reserved two tables of 4 for a group of 8 people and when everyone arrived we attempted to push the tables together so we could all sit together to enjoy the band. We were scolded and insulted by a man who we were told was the owner. Instead of kindly saying 'please don't push the tables together' we were told extremely rudely that 'that's not allowed' and 'thanks for asking if you could do that'. He continued to scold us and be unapologetic with how he spoke to us. I've worked with restaurants and hotels for 40 years in the wine and spirits business and never have I seen anything close to this kind of treatment from an owner of an establishment. We all live locally and would have potentially been ongoing customers as we are always looking for music venues to go to. But needless to say, instead of spending 5-6 hundred dollars as a group, we quickly paid our tab for the three glasses of very mediocre wine and left. Obviously, we will not be returning. read more

I'm giving Nabu Wines 5 stars but I do have one complaint which I'll address. My wife and I came here on a Sunday afternoon to just relax. We saw that they were having an acoustic music group performing '70s tunes. It was our first time coming here. It's an intimate place with about 12 tables and a bar. There's a stage and most of the design motif involves music. Nabu hosts a wide variety of music, mostly cover bands. The acoustic group we saw was fantastic. Mostly deep cut material played really well. They have the front room, described above and a back room in a more lounge-y style. There was a food vendor setting up to sell food just outside the back of the place (though we left before they were serving anything). The owner is around, doing everything, while engaging everyone in conversation. You can tell he loves his wine, his place, and music. Everyone, from the other patrons, to the owner, to the other workers we met, to the musicians, were kind people. Our kind of place. It's clearly a wine place. Wine is your only choice of adult beverage. They have a menu of their proprietary wines, made in Napa, Malibu and Pasa Robles. You can order by the glass, by the bottle, or by tasting flight. I need to mention that the wine is expensive. And I'm not wine savvy to judge the wine in a critical way. But I do understand that this is a great place, and for the price of a glass or two, you can have a great time and great music. So I understand the pricing and you just need to go with it too, in my opinion. My wife likes wine. I don't really, so I got a glass of sparkling Chardonnay. My wife got their Chardonnay. We enjoyed the wine, the people, the place, the owner and the music. All great but with one gripe. The only water is canned water for purchase. In my opinion, where people are drinking alcohol, a place should make water plentifully available and either free or at a nominal price (for bottles). Anyway, 5 stars. And we'll be back, hopefully many more times. read more

Great experience came here for the first time yesterday 04/02/2022 on a Saturday at 3 pm. My boyfriend and I each had a wine flight and shared another one after. There is also food trucks available and so we both ordered some fries and the burgers were amazing. The ambience of the place is amazing it was extremely cloudy so it wasn't too hot. During the middle of our stay they had a live DJ come and it was a silent disco so that was a really cool experience. The wines are overall more on the sweet side but great in flavor. Some of my favorites was the Grenache and the rosé of syrah!! Great ambiance very picturesque. Good experience! Only downside was it got pretty cold after and they don't have much heaters, the ground was also wet so a lot of puddles. Mind you this is around 3-6 pm. read more

My wife and the I went in to Nabu to ask for a contribution to a local charity event. We ordered a glass (which was decent) and inquired about said charity. The owner politely refused for his own reasons, which is absolutely understandable (I guess business is "struggling") . As we're checking out, my wife decided to be nice and buy a bottle to support the "struggling" business. During the interaction, the owner upsells her to a membership, which is several hundred dollars. I asked my wife why she is getting a membership (she'll only drink reds and the membership comes with several whites) and she says she feels bad for him and wants to help out. She planned on canceling after the first shipment. As much as I'm frustrated, I go along with it and load up to leave. A couple months later my wife tried to cancel. The owner says that the membership commitment is two shipments and he kept the credit card number. I went back inside to talk to the owner and explain that she felt pressured and didn't want the second shipment and he apologized but said we were stuck with the second shipment. He's a very charismatic and friendly man but he's using his charm to coerce his customers. Just be aware and don't let him take advantage of you (or you're people pleasing spouse). read more

There were no customers at the bar and 6 people maybe 8 already served at tables (the place seats 50, maybe 75, if you include all seats). He was cleaning or organizing? Who knows, no biggie. Final came over and handed us a menu, came back a few min later, and took our order. This is where it went downhill, we sat, and waited, and waited, and sat. 20 min later no wine in sight. Walked back up to the bar. The bartender, "Darn, I forgot about you". We walked out. It always kills me when an establishment is near empty but they can't seem to muster up mediocre service. Went for a friend's birthday and I was sad to say that the service was pretty bad. They just didn't seem like they cared whether you enjoyed your time there or not - and the fact that there are only 5 wines, plus sodas, which are all overpriced, does not make for an evening out. Have a couple beers on hand for those of us who don't drink wine! Or maybe some mocktails? All the food is via whatever food truck is there that night - but this night it was pizza, which pretty much ruled out half our group from having anything to snack on. We had fun anyway, but that was more about being with great people than being in a great place. read more

However, I'm only giving two stars because I have reserved tables online and paid $10 at least three times and when I get there, they have no record of my reservation. So it's always a mess trying to get a table that I paid for on a crowded night. I've read other reviews that it happens to other people too, so they obviously have to figure something out. Live music on the weekends, great flights of wine, due to COVID they can't provide food but we were able to order a charcuterie board and it was delivered. They have a really nice selection of vinyl records that they play when your able to be inside. They did a nice job of shading the parking lot for the tables. I enjoyed every wine in the tasting - the Sauvignon blanc was very good! They stick to the 90 minute time limit on the tables when they are busy. read more

I came here on a weekend to escape the heat. While the bartender was nice and the live entertainment was entertaining I would not come back. I'm no wine snob but the wine was not good at all. My boyfriend and I ordered different wines hoping to purchase a bottle as a gift for family. We agreed that we would definitely not want to gift someone either of our wines and the prices were unreasonable for the quality of the wine. Eek. Sorry but I can't recommend this spot. read more

not sure if he is the owner or not but a man named Greg has turned me away from this establishment entirely. Beyond rude to other employees and careless and entitled when speaking with customers(I have witnessed this multiple times). This man has left such a negative impression that me and my friends have all agreed to never return. All of the other staff has been so friendly that it is such a shame that one person was able to turn us away. Our friends who have also performed at Nabu have complained about how rudely they were treated and spoken to by Greg. I would encourage anyone who is thinking of spending their night at Nabu Wines to go somewhere else. The thought of supporting such a pompous individual sickens me. read more

I have never been treated more rudely in my life. My girlfriend and I went here one evening for some entertainment. The place was packed; good for them! I spoke to the host who suggested we sit at the bar until a table opened up. Once at the bar, the bartender asked for our order. When we ordered iced tea and coffee, we were told we couldn't sit at the bar unless we were drinking wine. Ok fine, I guess they want the seats at the bar so that they can talk about the wines, no problem. Shortly after getting out of our seats, the host ushered us to a table. As soon as we sat down, the guy from behind the bar, who I then guessed must have been the manager or owner, rushed up to us and said sternly, "if you're not drinking wine, you can't sit at a table either." Wow! Clearly, we were unwelcome in this establishment, and I just feel the need share with you that if you don't drink, or don't feel like drinking wine on a given night, then you are unwelcome here, too. Don't even think of going here; they don't want you. We ended up sitting outside at the picnic table by the food truck. We could almost hear the music. The one extra star is for the phenomenal food at the food truck. My 2 stars are extremely generous. read more

This one star review is not because of an overpriced bad glass of wine. This can happen at almost any bar or restaurant. It's a one star review because of how poorly the owner handled the situation when I complained. Last night I went to Nabu Wines with my wife, sister and a friend to see our friend's band Checkpoint. They were great and I'll see them play again, just not at Nabu Wines. Here's my beef. When my sister nicely asked the bartender to replace her glass of wine, he said that it was the policy of Nabu not to do so. She was unfortunately stuck with a bad and expensive glass of wine. I then decided that I too would nicely ask the bartender for a replacement glass and he again politely refused. I was upset that my request was also denied but a "one star" review was never a consideration until I flagged down the owner and brought my concerns to her attention. When I briefly explained that I felt that a replacement glass of wine was in order, her very defensive reply was that she sided with her bartender and that the "customer is not always right". Her demeanor and lack of professionalism was not at all what I expected. All I was asking for was another pour of a better wine. This seemed simple and extremely doable and the right thing to do. The owner dropped the ball on this one and instead angrily grabbed the glass of bad wine, walked to bar and dumped it into the sink. She then returned with the same degree of indignation and offered me a glass of wine on the house. I accepted her offer but would have hoped it included an apology for her lack of competence which it did not. The customer may not always be right but in this case, he was. read more

They advertise tasting but yet that wasn't available? The prices were outrageous. $6 for water? I have never been to a wine establishment that doesn't offer free water. Everyone knows when you're drinking wine, you need water to stay hydrated. What a crappy move to not offer free water. The terrible bottle of wine I ordered was $60. Would have been nice to have a tasting instead of wasting my money. I leave this place feeling ripped off and disappointed. Absolute garbage, it was so unfortunate that my fiancé wanted to go somewhere with live music and I happen to find a place in the Thousand Oaks region. I couldn't be more upset that this place came up. Band was great. Staff at this establishment is absolute garbage. If you don't look liek a rich 70ish year old Westlake local than you should just give up. My fiancé and I were astounded at the disrespect we got from staff and the probable unknowing this owner actually has toward decent wine. He specifically pointed me to "his driest" and "best" Pinot noir which was absolutely not the driest nor best. He should be ashamed In trying to point his customers to a semi decent direction of wine instead he is more happy to take a video of a halfass band and full room of people that can afford to be treated like absolute shit.
