One of our favorites in Ocracoke. Food is always good, fresh and reasonably priced. We have always had very attentive wait staff.

The parking is a little hairy but I'm sure you can find a parking spot. Inside the tables have a tablecloth, kinda orange-red with a design. It's different, cool. Even though the place looks busy you are seated quickly. THE STAFF: The night we went, there was this guy & girl serving. Gosh they were quick! Holy moly! I was so impressed! FOOD: We got the special soup, curry sweet potato bisque. Oh man! I'm still salivating over that! It's enough to share!

We came early for apps and drinks and were considering if we wanted to stay for our dinner meal too since the menu looked fantastic (and the ragu was eyeing me down!). It was surprisingly incredibly quiet with only a few of the porch tables taken, so we didn't feel like we were holding anyone up since it was quiet and early. While we were deciding on dinner, the waitress approached us and asked if we made our minds up. When saying we needed a minute but wanted to start with rolls and cocktails, she said, "well can I take your menus then? Or one?" Which felt odd given there weren't many people there at all and we still wanted to decide what apps a dinner to order. Otherwise, she hadn't checked back on us for another 30 minutes after ordering drinks and bread to start, so feeling like a nuisance, and we decided not to get dinner here anymore and we'd go elsewhere. Then, trying to wave the waitress down felt impossible almost as though she was avoiding our table, we had to ask another server for her to grab our check. Otherwise, the outside porch was perfect and shady with fans and airflow for a hot summer day. Very homey! The house made bread was absolutely fantastic. The French 75 was heavy handed on the gin, which can be both good and bad depending how you look at it! Worth the money for us!

Cypress Hall - The pork dish was a bit "one note" for me. I wish there was the same complexity as other dishes of theirs.

Saturday was the best day of my taste bud's life because of this rice. Chef Daniel, I'll remember this meal for a very long time. We were in no rush and our waiter (Beckett) was very accommodating with our pace. we ordered drinks and settled in on reviewing the small menu. Drinks were fine but I thought my beer (Sexy Cool Hazy IPA) was a little flat. We asked if there were any appetizers that would lend themselves to sharing. The only two, deviled eggs and pimento cheese, were not anything we were interested in so we passed. Surprisingly, there was not even a salad option as a starter. Two of the dinners had the NC catch of the day, golden tilefish. It was nice but a very small portion. One had the shrimp and clam purloo. It was a generous portion and was reported to be good. I had the braised pork cheeks. They tasted good and were not fatty at all. Looking back on our dinner, the food was fine but nothing exceptional. Also nothing "fresh" on the menu; salad, fresh vegetables, nothing. Also the lack of something other than the very pedestrian offers to share is something to consider. For what we paid, I would expect much better. PS - Our waiter, Beckett, was very good. Attentive enough but not too much. Also, why do restaurants of this caliber charge more for a credit card. Who is going to pay cash for a $300 meal? Just crank it into the price of the food and stop rubbing our noses in your cost to do business.

Back Again -- and Still Blown Away!…read more Stopped in last night with five other guys as we made our way up "the ditch" to Falmouth, MA -- and once again, Spoon River delivered the unexpected magic that only Theresa and her team can provide in this hidden gem of a town. From the second we walked in, the vibe was warm and welcoming. Theresa greeted us like long-lost friends (with a hug on the way out too -- who does that anymore??), and our server Sam was spot-on: attentive, relaxed, and knew the menu like a pro. Now, the food. Oh man, the food. Fried Green Tomatoes: Showstopper. Perfectly crisp, full of flavor, and just the right tangy punch to kick things off. Main courses -- each one got rave reviews from our crew: * Pork Chop (2 of us): Juicy, thick, and packed with flavor. Honestly, I had ribeye envy once I tasted it! * Seared Ahi (2 of us): Beautifully done, fresh and flavorful with a gentle sear. * Filet: Cooked perfectly. Nothing else to say -- it just melted. * Ribeye (mine): Medium rare, spot-on, but yeah, I'll admit it... I'd order the pork chop next time We pulled two great bottles of wine from their Wine Room (so reasonable!) and ended with some bonus sips -- Blanton's bourbon, which took the evening to the next level. And the desserts? - Chocolate Brownie with Ice Cream: Rich, gooey, just what we wanted. - Cinnamon-Forward Carrot Cake: Moist, spicy-sweet, and totally worth saving room for. The whole experience felt like something you'd find in a big city -- only here, it's surrounded by local art, genuine hospitality, and a true sense of care. Final word? If you're anywhere near Belhaven, detour here. If you're coming up the ICW, make this your stop. And if you're lucky enough to chat with Theresa -- tell her we said hi, and we'll be back. Because we will. Thank you, Spoon River -- for once again reminding us how special a meal can be. #FoodieFind #HiddenGemEats #SouthernCuisine #FarmToTable #SmallTownBigFlavors #ChefOwned #LocallySourced #FoodThatWows #ICWAdventures #CruisingTheDitch #GreatLoopLife #BoatLife #MarinaEats #DockAndDine #BelhavenNC #VisitBelhaven #NCFoodie #HighlyRecommend #MustTry

The calamari came out hot and tasted so good with the Cajun remoulade to dip in. We also had the special lamb lollipops which were cooked to a perfect medium and were seasoned perfectly. The chopped wedge salad was massive and great to share with another person. The seafood corn chowder is packed with all different kinds of seafood and makes a nice thick chowder. The shrimp and grits is one of the best shrimp and grits I've had. The tomato sauce is full of so much flavor with the large tomato chunks adding some nice texture to the dish. The grits are fried into cakes that have that crispy outside and smooth grits on the inside. On the specials we had the fried soft shell crab. While the crab had a nice light batter the crab shell isn't great but was made up with the lemon remoulade on top. The vegetables were under seasoned lacking salt and any other seasoning. The whole fried fish did stand out as a great dish with the fish cut into large strips, the light fry, and the Cajun remoulade to add some flavor to dip in. For dessert we had the special chocolate mousse cake which was delicious but nothing too special. Overall every item was good and our server was wonderful and I will plan on coming back whenever I'm in the OBX.
