Found ourselves craving fresh seafood and decided to grab lunch at Jason's. Despite the place being quite busy, we were seated within about five minutes--a promising start! We ordered a variety of dishes: the cold Italian sub, spicy chicken wings, Greek salad with blackened shrimp, blackened fresh fish sandwich, and blackened shrimp dinner. COLD ITALIAN SUB The cold Italian sub came with chips and was flavorful and satisfying. Wish it had more seasoning and spice, but it was good nonetheless. SPICY CHICKEN WINGS The spicy chicken wings had a nice kick, but weren't overwhelming. Would've been great if they were more flavorful, but they were fried nicely. GREEK SALAD The Greek salad with blackened shrimp was fresh, with perfectly seasoned shrimp that added a great smoky depth. All the ingredients were fresh and crunchy. Feta wasn't overwhelming, just perfect. FRESH FISH SANDWICH The blackened fresh fish sandwich, also served with chips, was a highlight with its flaky, well-seasoned fish. SHRIMP DINNER The blackened shrimp dinner, which came with garlic bread and cocktail sauce, was another standout--generous portions and bursting with flavor. The garlic bread was delish and went with the shrimp, which was cooked to perfection. Super tender and juicy. Service was fast and friendly, making the experience even better. Went with some friends in the off season and was busy right at five, as it one of the only spots open. Every interaction with service members was fantastic, they were kind and attentive. It has a mom and pop feel, where you'll likely seat yourself when it's slow, all prices are somewhat reasonable, seafood was obviously more expensive but I'd say it was pushing the reasonable side of things. I had the fried shrimp with green beans and white Mac and cheese. Shrimp was solid, and high quality. The green beans were good and thin. The Mac and cheese was fine but came out cold, which was confusing considering it was so busy, I don't know why food would be in the window for long periods. For the price and location everything was solid, but not necessarily great, I wouldn't return if there were other open options. We were looking for a good sandwich spot for lunch and Jason's came highly recommended, but unfortunately it didn't live up to the hype. We ordered the BBQ sandwich and the Cheesesteak, and both were dry and underwhelming. Service was also disappointing -- our waiter was slow, neglectful, and apparently lost our ticket. Another employee had to bring us the bill. Overall, the experience just felt disorganized and pitiful. Maybe this is more of a seafood place, and we ordered the wrong things, but based on our lunch experience we probably wouldn't return for sandwiches. read more

Very honestly this resturant has been inconsistent over the years, sometimes my experience is great and other times not so much. However my recent experience was fanominal! We went to Jason's for lunch. This is a homey island type restaurant that is not fancy but has everything you could want. The service was friendly and helpful. If you like pot stickers there is just something about Jason's that I love. They are crispy on the outside and meaty on the inside. The Thai dipping sauce is so good. I had a nice blackened fish sandwich with ample amounts of fish with a tasty chipotle tartar sauce. The wife had a huge salad that she could not finish. I loved the unpretentious island vibe here (great artwork, good food, friendly locals). Everyone in our party of 4 enjoyed our lunches! After all, the surfer dude at Ride the Wind recommended this place for lunch. FISH...unless you are allergic-let me recommend the fish. What a chill place! From pizza to subs and the home made hush puppies which I highly recommend a dozen to start. I had the Italian sub. Large portions, good flavor. My wife had the small veggie pizza which was more like a medium at Dominoes! Again with the large portion size. She ate on it for breakfast the next day. My daughter had the fried chicken. Also a recommended dish. The waitress was fast and courteous as well as knowledgeable in the menu. Prices were good. Not over priced, after all, everything that comes to this island comes by ferry. When you're there, it's like you've stepped back in time. Enjoy the atmosphere the people and the fellowship. You will not regret it. For our meal, I had the pulled pork sandwich and my husband had a Turkey sandwich-- both very good. Restaurant had a nice casual atmosphere with interesting local artwork. We stopped here on our overnight trip to Ocracoke. We just came from the beach and we were starving! We sat quickly, had the nicest server and the food was delicious! We had pizza, chicken sandwich and kids had spaghetti and meatballs. The pizza was very good(we are from CT so hard to compete with pizza there) The chicken sandwich was delicious! The chickens was tender and juicy! Just so good. The inside was diner like but comforting and simple, clean. The server was Chris and he was very nice and personable. "Best pizza I ever had!" my wife beamed when she took a bit of her Hawaiian pizza from Jason's. It's definitely up high on the list for me and the rest of the family as well- we loved it! An excellent combination of loaded flavor, crunchy and chewy crust, and plenty of gooey cheese. The service was very friendly too. I picked it up at the counter, and before I walked away, I was asked if I'd like any plates, parmesan cheese, forks, etc. to go with it. It was a gesture that I greatly appreciated, as I'd completely overlooked and forgotten to ask. And we had 5 kids in the car, so the plates were perfect. Great little place. I ordered the grilled fish sandwich and it was cooked to perfection. The buns was warmed and soft, fish was moist and tasty and not overly cooked. Best grilled fish I've had in a while. My friend ordered the blackened shrimp and it smelled so good. I wish I remembered to take a photo. My first time to Jason's after many years of eating on the Island. I had the clam chowder and grouper sandwich. it was OK. This is a very casual restaurant with a small dining room. They do have a bar with some stools where you can get served as well as some tables on the screened porch. Service was better than average and I add a star for the chowder. read more

We have eaten seafood all over the world but can honestly say we've never had better. The shrimp was just unreal, and the drum was some of the best fish we've ever had and perfectly prepared (fried).
