She's got it all here: propagated starter plants perfect for newbies, bigger statement pieces for indoor and outdoor gardening, succulents, pots, and even cute accessories that make you want to redecorate your patio. It's small, but it has heart. Pricing is a bit of a mystery. Very few plants are labeled, so you just have to trust her when she throws out a price. Everything seemed pretty reasonable and affordable, though. I grabbed plant food, a pot of Cuban oregano, and another medium-sized plant all for $35. I liked the price but I couldn't tell you exactly what each item cost. Personally, I didn't mind, but a little transparency would go a long way. Back to the husband: he's a bit dismissive and he scowls. He doesn't greet customers. But my two cents? Sir...If you don't want to deal with people, maybe hang out somewhere else during business hours. Customers come for the plants and the experience. Not to feel like they're crashing your day. But the nursery itself is adorable, the plants are healthy, the prices are reasonable, and the owner is a delight. There are some ridiculously cute dogs on site (just don't let them sneak out the door when you come in). All in all: a quirky, welcoming local business that deserves support. First, I was overcharged by almost $300. I didn't realize it until I was about 30 minutes away. After several phone calls, they agreed to refund the overcharge, but this should have been caught before I left. I was told the price check hadn't been cleared properly. Second, one of the bags of compost I purchased was full of mold and had turned into a mushy, unusable mess. I expect better quality control and more attention at checkout, especially from a business I go out of my way to support. I hope they address these issues because I'd like to continue shopping here.

We went with a couple of friends who are more experienced. The store manager, Nick, was very patient in helping us select every single component needed to start a hydroponics system. At no point during the process did we feel he was trying to up sell us anything. He informed us several options based our needs and mainly that is to grow herbs and leafy greens. To make the experience more pleasant was that Nick helped us drill the necessary holes in the buckets to install the hose and overflow valves. Nick also provided us with clear instructions about the planting process, ensuring right pH level in water and how to do that, and typically when we should be migrating the seedlings into the planting bucket. I encourage anyone who is interested in indoor gardening to totally check this place out. The service and knowledge is truly impeccable.

Succulent Native is a plant boutique in Austin, Texas, specializing in succulents, cacti, and creative plant arrangements. Quite honestly, I never knew that there were so many permutations of succulents. I actually believe I might be able to keep a succulent alive since they require little maintenance. I learned from the store manager that they host succulent parties. That would be a cool way to spend time with family and friends. In addition, while they have some beautiful plants, some can be a bit pricey. With that said, there is a section of the store that has some reasonably priced smaller plants. There's a little something for everyone.
