Excellent service by Lee during my visit. There is a definite inclusivity & art vibe going on inside.....all modalities that seem to concentrate on local artists and history. For parents with kids, there's a little basket with children's books in it to occupy the youngin's while you, or you and some friends, take a moment to enjoy. Cute place. Didn't have cash on me, so I couldn't order anything (small purse = credit cards only!), but they had a very pleasant covered patio area, and the interior had several cute rooms. The space appears to be a converted house, which is very charming and clever. read more

What a lovely place to meet a friend for a cup of coffee. They offer a wide variety on their menu of coffees, teas, Italian sodas, and baked goods. I am a decaf and dairy-free pain-in-the rear customer - and they had all sorts of wonderful options to accommodate my preferences. When I came here it was an odd opportunity to meet with friends as we were both traveling in two different directions. We ended up staying much longer than we had planned because the place was far more comfortable than expected. First, the drinks for all 5 of us were very good. We sat in a room that might resemble a living room- or an old coffeehouse, that included lounge chairs and a comfy coach. After sometime, we decided to get some fresh air and we sat on the patio for a while as well. Loved the vibe, loved the coffee, loved the outdoors. A great place to get a cup of coffee. read more

Happy I happened to stumble upon this coffee shop. The inside was closed but their patio was a perfect spot to read and journal. I enjoyed an iced coffee with cream and house made lavender simple syrup. I appreciated that it wasn't overly sweet, the flavor was spot on. I will definitely be back with my book. read more

Upon walking in the atmosphere was very inviting with a few people spread throughout going about their business with schooling and conversations. I am utterly and thoroughly impressed by this coffee shop find. Having an early morning trip I was in dire need of a coffee and yelped the nearest Starbucks. What came up was the nearby Starbucks and the Java Bean Plantation. Based on the high rating I decided to read the Yelp reviews. These reviewers weren't lying, this place is outstanding. The directions took me to a side street in a residential type neighborhood. At the corner is a beautiful old house converted into a coffee shop with tables outside. Walking in I was amazed by the quaintness of the set up and the decor. The perfect place to relax and enjoy a cup of delicious coffee. This is where the flavor comes in. Outstanding. Better than any coffee shop I have been to in the U.S.. Add to that the great customer service and you have the perfect morning coffee stop. Cozy coffee shop in a home a little past the main drag in Southern Pines. This town really impressed me across the board - it captures the quaintness of a Southern town with modern updates. This coffee shop is a great addition. We got cappuccinos and sipped them in rockers in one of their rooms. Service was kind, prices were reasonable and atmosphere was relaxed. Skip Starbucks and come to the Java Bean Plantation. The coffee is some of the best that I've ever had, and my wife says that the soy latte is very good. The atmosphere is comfortable and the wifi works well. Add easy free parking along the street to the mix and you couldn't want more from an independent coffee shop. Highly recommended! Update April 30, 2016: Good coffee but crappy wifi access. If you are looking for a place to hang out online, go someplace else. I asked the girl working here about the wifi problems, and she said that their router only accepts about five connections. I suggested that it is time to get a new router and she was crabby to me. I almost drove by this place twice. I'm so happy that I found it. Parking is a little bit confusing because it's literally a house. But I absolutely love the ambience, and the outside is pet friendly. The coffee was delicious and they have nondairy options besides soy. They even have gluten-free cookies! I'm from Maryland and stopped for a night in Southern Pines. I usually go to a local coffee shop in MD so I looked on Yelp to see what was around. 10/10 place, so glad I chose to come here. Wow! My iced latte is amazing! One of the best I've had! And it was only $5.25 for a 24 ounce flavored iced latte and two chocolate chip shortbread cookies. I tried this place out for the first time and I will be back! They offer a lot of different flavors of coffee, lattes, smoothies, chai, hot tea basically anything you want. I got an iced mocha latte 24 oz with a bagel and cream cheese. The only sad thing to report is that I wish the bagel was a really good, thick, NY style, which it wasn't. But I know that's hard to find down here. Atmosphere was cute, little sitting area inside and outside. Service was quick and friendly. I was surprised to see it so busy at 8am on a Wednesday but even so, I got my order fast. I can't wait to try another flavor next time! read more

I love this coffee shop! It's a great places grab a cup of coffee and a muffin. The prices are the most reasonable in the pines. You can get a latte and a muffin for $5.00. Most coffee shops that's what you would pay for just a coffee. The service is friendly and fast. They have a unique assortment of hot drinks. My only go to coffee place in Southern Pines. I work down the street and visit daily. The coffee and espresso is some of the best I have had I. Part because the roast everything in house. It's way more affordable than your average coffee house and I even purchase my coffee beans here to use at home. Highly recommend to anyone who considers themselves a caffeine junky!! read more

Among the four coffee shops in Southern Pines, this place has the best coffee. They roast their own beans and also have them for sale. The drink menu is extensive, to include teas, iced drinks, flavored hot drinks, and they also have munchies like biscotti, muffins, and bagels. The staff are efficient and friendly. Enjoy a nice day out on the patio or sit inside in one of the three rooms, two of which have lots of natural light. The music is diverse and excellent. Free Wi-Fi (not fast, but adequate for general browsing). This is where all the mover-and-shaker locals go and where important decisions are made! Nice chill atmosphere.
