I LOVE Java Detour. The one in my hometown of Bakersfield closed down years ago & there aren't any nearby. It was such a treat to find them so close to our hotel. The lady at the drive thru was super friendly and the drinks were done quickly. For two larges and two mediums it was $23 which is a pretty good price. The drinks were all really good although a bit sweet for my taste. Next time I would ask for 1/2 the amount of sweetened flavor- but that's just me. Service is quick and efficient and it's my fave place when I just need coffee quick and fast and I'm downtown here. Just a plain coffee for me, no fancy added stuff. In and out quick, that's what I like. I'd most likely choose this place over a Starbucks. read more

STAFF COULD NOT CARE LESS ABOUT COVID PRECAUTIONS!!! Drive up with your face mask in place. Staff (2 young women) were pleasant, and the coffee was strong (preferred), just a bit to the bitter side. It was a quality product. I ordered a 16 ounce cup of coffee with half and half on the side. This is where common sense has to overrule...because I asked for cream in my coffee, my 16 ounce container contained 12 ounces. How do I know? I poured it into a 12 ounce cup I had with me. I paid for 16 ounces, got 12 ounces. I get it that room has to be left for the cream...they went overboard. There are probably better choices (STARBUCKS IS NOT ONE) in town, The lack of Covid precautionary measures, and lack of common sense are the reasons I would advise to pass this by. While looking for Starbucks, we saw this little coffee shack on the corner. When we walked up to the drive-thru window they had an large selection of coffee drinks hot, cold, and blended. I had the blended funky monkey mocha. It lived up to its name, and really good! It's a great place to stop by to quinch your thirst as well as to get a caffonated drink when you've been driving for a few hours. Our girls like their smoothies especially when whipping cream is added to the top of it. This time they ordered tropical smoothies. I ordered a cold brew coffee. Our son ordered an iced snickers mocha. We also ordered one banana bread for my wife. When we were given our order we were given an extra banana bread just because.
