What a gem in downtown Red Bluff! Came here for the first (and certainly not last) time with a colleague for a late lunch. It was pretty quiet so we got our pick of seating in the open dining room with the bar running down the left side. A booth? Yes, please! We had friendly, fast service and delicious food. Can we just talk about the dill pickle soup for a minute ~ or seven?! I honestly wanted to order a vat to go. I almost did. Zupa Ogórkowa FTW! So unique and a must order. Very much enjoyed the fried okra and opted for two sauces: lemon garlic aioli and creamy horseradish. Crunchy, served piping hot and majorly munchable. What's not to like? I liked that we could get the cabbage rolls with both tasty sauces, although they weren't my favorite dish during our visit. Certainly a generous portion, though. My lunchmate had been here once before and raved about the Fall Farro salad, but alas, they didn't have it the day we came in. We opted for the Fall Goddess salad and it was delightful. I can't deny being disappointed that they weren't serving pierogis the day we visited, since they only serve them on Saturdays. Our server told us they spend most of the week making ~400 pierogis and they always sell out of them on Saturdays, the only day they're served. (Note to self: return on a Saturday, early in the day if possible!) Look forward to having an excuse to return to Red Bluff for more of that pickle soup and some pierogis! read more

Oh my where to start. It was our two year anniversary so we decided to try Krystyna's and what a treat! The service from being seated to exiting was perfect. The decor, service, cuisine and ownership had all the desired elements we look for in a restaurant. We did not have a reservation, but they were so kind and accommodated us. We have a one year-old so it was lovely that their pristine ladies room has a changing table. I really like how the owner was overseeing the dining floor and his wife is the chef. Front to back coverage and family owned, in my experience, has the best eats! We ordered the scallops on a bed of lemon butter orzo with broccolini as our appetizer and it did not disappoint. The scallops were cooked to perfection and the broccolini Al dente just the way I prefer it. For my main entree I ordered the Gulasz wolowy the beef was melt in your mouth delectable. Their home recipe sauerkraut was the best I've ever eaten. (I've had some in Germany) My husband's entree of choice was their Lublin Schnitzel. (Similar to a chicken fried steak but with pork on top of a savory potato pancake sandwiched between mushroom gravy). For dessert we had a white chocolate brownie with berry compote vanilla ice cream caramel and fresh mint. While eating we let out groans as our eyes were meeting as if to say, without words, where has this restaurant been all my life?! (I'm well targeted having visited Germany, Mexico, all up and down Cali, road tripped across the U.S. and lived in Italy, New York and Southern California) So I have had some jaw dropping dishes in my lifetime. That being said I was completely astonished at how mind blowing this cuisine was! On top of the food the service, cleanliness and decor was top notch. If you have not eaten here you must. C'est la vie that this establishment exists in Red Bluff a stones throw away from where we reside. Thank God, we'll be back and thank you for a wonderful anniversary dinner. It's spacious, comfortable, and has a touch of modern, especially in the back by the restrooms. I had a chicken pesto pita. It was pretty good, but I felt like the pita bread was a bit on the mushy side. The pesto sauce was a little heavy. We shared the crepes. They were pretty good, but the jam tasted like it was from a store, and not home made. The filling was quite generous. For Red Bluff, it's a solid restaurant. read more

This family-run restaurant is in a beautifully refinished historic space. (Many dishes are made from family recipes.) The service is warm and friendly. There is a small street parking area 1/2 block past the restaurant, on the right. The food is excellent. We had the Polish potato sald (with apples and egg), the spring salad (with fresh and tasty fruit), and the Meditteranean pita salad. Portions are generous, and prices see reasonable. Four of us walked in and it was pretty busy. They seated us right away at their Wine Bar Area and Owner gave us menus and took our drink orders right away. I noticed quite a few more people came in and they got them seated. I ordered one of their Schnitzel Plates and my wife had their Goulash Plate. Meals came out extremely fast and all seem to Enjoy their Meals. I am familiar with the building and wanted to say what a nice job they have done on the Remodel and the Set up of the Restaurant. Gotta be honest: Polish cuisine is not on the top of list of favorites. Not that I am against it. Honestly just a mystery. But years ago I spent a little time in Eastern Europe one summer and amazing goulash. So when I saw Krystyna's had it on the menu, I had to give it a try. It was fantastic! (Sauerkraut, served as a side, is only sort of my thing, but I cleaned the plate of it -- so, scoreboard.) Really tasty food, and the friendliest service I've had in a long time. Tonight, for dinner, we returned to Krystyna's Polish American Cuisine for dinner and was surprised at how crowded it was, we had to wait at the bar for a table. This was a nice surprise as the last time we were in was right after they opened and it wasn't very crowded and were worried about their eventual survival. We were also happy to see that the menu had been expanded. We decided to just eat at the bar and had a fun experience as the bartender who might also be the husband of the owner let us try multiple wines, I learned that I really like Polish dessert wine and ordered a glass of the blueberry which was delicious. Our food was delicious and freshly prepared. We ordered the Brussel sprouts as an appetizer it was larger than expected and incredibly flavorful. My partner ordered the Lublin Schnitzel. This is a potato pancake topped with mushroom gravy, Polish breaded pork schnitzel and a sunny side up egg, finished with fresh parsley. I ordered the Kotlet Schabowy. This is a Polish breaded pork schnitzel served with buttered herb potatoes, and sauerkraut salad. The interior is beautifully done in classic dark woods. The service by Bebe was excellent. Teague the hostess stayed on top of my water levels and made sure to bring the fresh lemon each time she freshened up my water, and at my request, squeezed the lemon for me. Pierogies are served on Saturdays only so that was the day I chose to go for my first experience at Krystyna's Polish American restaurant. What a treat pierogies were delicious. The only thing that separated them from my grandma's was she actually panfried them in butter as the last step. The bed of sautéed onions they were served on were very delicious. I then ordered Gulasz Wolowy-Hungarian goulash. That was spot on the way my grandma used to make it when I was growing up. So delicious. I finished my meal with dessert called.Nalesniki- a crêpe filled with lemon mascarpone cream topped with a berry compote and some powdered sugar. Lunch was superb. I was only able to eat half of each dish. Definitely ample food was served. Many would baulk the price, but it was quality food and I was OK with that. My three items came to $50. I can't wait to go back this coming week and try something new. It's about time Red Bluff offers a different kind of food that is not Mexican Asian, or hamburgers. read more

Melt in your mouth tender. The potato pancake it is sandwiched in was oniony and very complementary to the Goulash. Husband was very impressed with the Stuffed cabbage and his plate of brussel sprouts with a scrumptious balsamic glaze. I had never heard of pickle soup, yes you heard me, pickle soup. A little too much raw onion for my taste, so we will do no onion next time. The schnitzel was good especially when you mix it with the sauerkraut salad it comes with. Great experience! Stopped on the way from Burney Falls. My family and I loved the experience of trying new foods like the Dill Pickle soup (yum!). We had the 3 different schnitzels and they were fabulous. Service was tremendous and the owners absolutely gracious. They stopped at all the tables at least once to check on us and to share the story of their family business and wholesome approach to cooking. They were a joy.
