I'd love for this place to work on their customer service. The first time I was here I let the gentleman behind the counter know it was my first time. He handed me a menu at the counter of their "specials" and walked off. No upselling, no nothing. Ordered a trusty chia latte with almond milk, with no water. I received a very weak, watery latte that I unfortunately took to-go before tasting. Tried this place the next week. I need nice, mobile workspaces to enjoy coffee and wanted to like this place. This time, two gentlemen were behind the counter and a little friendlier. I pointed to an Apple crumble type cake and asked for an explanation of what it was. Sounded good enough so I ordered it. They asked if I wanted it heated up and I said "sure." All they did was microwave it for 15 seconds and it was still ice cold when I sat down. Ugh. Fridge temperature cold apple crumble. I took a gamble at a Carmel something latte that looked good, requesting specific nondairy milk. After a half hour of trying to mobile work here, my stomach gave the signs that it was not dairy-free milk (ie almond), so I had to leave quickly. You have to ask for the WiFi information (it's free, but you have to ask for the login). If I have to ask instead of it being posted inside, I'm just using my hotspot WiFi. Also, there was a group of folks that were way too loud to get any work done. This place looks like a younger hangout, but I would not recommend coming here to try to get any work done and enjoy some coffee. The ambiance is too noisy for me. read more

Great atmosphere in a really cool dome shaped building! Staff is nice. There are games and such you can use while there. The second floor is inside the dome, with windows all along the domed ceiling and an array of tables and seating. The coffee is good, lots of latte flavor options plus the basic as well. However, there is inconsistency between baristas. I order my shots ristretto style. I have had a few baristas tell me they don't do that there even though I have had baristas that have made my shots ristretto. The scones are always dry, more like a biscotti. Their breakfast and lunch sandwiches are good but pricey. Altogether I would recommend it. read more

A cool local coffee place with a fun vibe, coffee roasted on site and very good food brought us back to Java Jack's every day we were in Nacogdoches :) We started here one morning for breakfast. I had the spicy pig breakfast croissant (without the mayo) and it was bit made correctly and absolutely DELICIOUS!! That sandwich was so substantial that it held me until dinner. 2 of our party had the muffins - one had the cranberry orange muffin, and the other had the blueberry muffin. Both muffins were obviously freshly made and each had big fruit flavours. Oatmeal was gourmet instant with dried fruit - and delicious :) We are going to try to find that brand back home. It was a healthy way to start the day. We had the caffe mocha, a raspberry mocha latte, and the mint mocha. All three drinks had a lot of flavor and excellent taste. We liked those so much we got them again the next day. Ambiance is more casual and less pretentious than Starbucks, which we really liked. I love Java Jacks! I normally just go through the drive through but I've been inside once and loved their little study area and balcony on the second floor. My go-to drink is the Iced Chai Vanilla (the spiced chai is also good) with a shot or two of espresso if I need to study. When it's colder outside I go with the Vanilla Nut latte- I love the amaretto flavor they have. I haven't tried any of their bakery snacks but I've had their breakfast sandwich "The Spicy Pig" a couple times and always love it. Definitely a must if your in Nac wanting a pick-me-up! read more

They don't post their prices and staff doesn't even know until it's rung up. They charge for refills on tea. Tea is the cheapest thing to sell. I've ordered their sandwiches and they are very small for the price you pay. They did not even have all the ingredients on hand to make the sandwich. I let that go but when I asked for more tea. They didn't seem to care that I got an incomplete sandwich and paid full price but couldn't let me have more tea. I try to avoid the place but some folks seem to think it looks cool to be there. Nacogdoches is a cute little town and the oldest town in Texas. There's a lot going on in this place with much to do and see. One of the places I am glad I spotted in this olden area is Java Jack's Coffee House. It may seem odd that in this old and historical town that I would be on about a coffee house. Since I was passing through rather than touring this city and craving myself some caffeine, it actually does make sense. Java Jack's is a small, cozy and adorable coffee shop that sits near Stephen F. Austin University. It has free Wi-Fi, a quiet and pleasant atmosphere and friendly employees. The coffee was absolutely beautiful. Rich and bold with an intensity that was at the same time smooth, this was one of the best caffe lattes I have had. The top was that frothy, creamy goodness that I so love in a latte. I drink my coffees and teas unsweetened and Java Jakes is excellent in customizing your drinks to your taste, i.e. I didn't get an odd look like I usually do when I say no flavorings or sweeteners in my coffee. The cool coffee bar itself is downstairs with the upstairs being a quiet refuge for reading or studying. There is also an outdoor patio deck upstairs. In cooler weather this would be the perfect place to sit and sip a hot coffee. I am so happy I found this place (mille grazie, Yelp) with its so gratifying coffee. I plan to return to Nacogdoches, not just to pass through but to actually visit this oldest town and learn more about it. Of course, I'll make sure to stop in at Java Jack's. Java Jack's helped me out of a bind. I had some internet issues out at the remote location where I was working. In an attempt to remedy the issue, I had to delete my security software. Well, I wasn't able to download it out there, so I hoped to find a place with fast internet in Nacogdoches. I went in and explained my problem, along with the newly discovered issue of a battery that was kaput. The young woman at the counter informed me that upstairs they have outlets near the tables. Problem solved. I started my download and then went downstairs. I ordered a piece of coconut cake and an iced tea. The cake was actually a little dry, but the iced tea was great. Probably the best glass of tea I have had in months, and I drink tea a lot. I also found a new variety of freshly roasted coffee beans to take home and try. This place has a pleasant atmosphere, polite clientele, and awesome employees. Couple that with clean restrooms and you definitely have a winner. read more

Was visiting a friend in Nacogdoches and he recommended this place. After the first sip of my frozen double chocolate delight, I made sure to go back before I left. When you look at the menu, you see a variety of coffee drinks that can be served hot, chilled, of frozen. You can choose what kind of milk they use, ask for extra shots of expresso, and, if you want, whipped cream. The variety of ways Java Jacks lets you customize your drink makes each drink feel like it's really special. The staff is always friendly and ready to make suggestions if you're uncertain as to what you feel like getting at the moment. A feature I enjoyed was that it was two floors, with the traditional looking coffee house downstairs and comfy home-like feeling upstairs with plush couches to study, read, or just relax in. Since the place has free wi-fi, it's a good place for students to go when they need to study somewhere less restrictive then a library. I loved sitting out on the balcony sipping my drink. That just made the entire experience come together. Next time I'm back in Nacogdoches, I'll definitely be passing by the Java Jack's. It's most definitely a treasure of a coffee house. read more

Arguably the best place to hang out, meet someone, or just talk in town. Free, fast wi-fi. Good music playing quietly. Never hard to find a parking spot in their private lot. Plenty of room inside and a good amount of space on the second floor balcony, too. Definitely the best coffee in town. And not just regular coffee either. The Java Shakes are amazing and the Italian cream sodas are delicious, too. The sandwiches are good, but not spectacular. The selection of food is fairly limited. The employees are fun and friendly. If you're a regular, they remember you. Here are the downsides: It isn't cheap, but coffee places never are. Sometimes large, noisy gatherings occur upstairs, and nothing is done about it. I come here four, five, six times a week, who is counting. I am always welcomed with smiles and laughs. Everything about this place is the comfort of being exactly where you feel you belong. I like the specialty coffees, smoothes, and am recently attempting the roasted coffee that they roast themselves. Java Jacks is one of my favorite coffee houses. Owned by Brent and Sarah, local business people, they make sure coffee is roasted to perfection at Java Jacks. It has a very homey feeling. As soon as you walk in, you notice paintings hung on walls, comfy chairs, and the friendly staff. They have coffee from around the world with a daily selection for medium, dark and decaf. My favorite one is the Mexican Pluma and the Ethiopians Yirgacheff. They have great pastries; their cinnamon scones and rolls are the best (made fresh every single day which is a plus). Breakfast has many options, from their Umpqua Oats selection to their yummy breakfast sandwiches. Also, if you buy one of their coffee tumblers (usually $10-15), coffee AND refills are cheaper! In the case you are not a coffee fan, they also have teas, smoothies, ice-cream drinks and more! Java is definitely the best place to have a cup of Joe in Nac. read more

I'm writing this review from inside Java Jack's for the second day in a row and I never want to leave! This is one of the coolest coffee shops I've been in. The upstairs is so fun, under a domed roof with all kinds of furniture and tables including a round booth. The music is great, and yet not distracting. And there are plenty of those precious, precious, outlets to go around. A great place to chat with friends, kill an hour, or post up to work for the afternoon. The Nutty Irishman doesn't disappoint!
