This place was our go to spot while we were elk hunting near Granby! Food was amazing and coffee was great! We ate here 3 times during our stay and would recommend this place! This was our last stop for brunch before heading home. We got there about 11:30 and the place was packed. The ladies eventually found tables while the men ordered our food. It was a little long on the wait but because we were on vacation we were in no hurry at all. The nice thing was that all of our food came out at the same time. I'm pleased to report this place is delicious and a must visit for breakfast! Plenty of options and the staff was friendly and accommodating. I'm GF/DF so it can be challenging to find options. I ordered a burrito , no tortilla (naked) , no cheese. My husband ordered the real deal. They made sure they understood my order, the portions did not disappoint, and they were super kind about the substitutions. It's places like this that make dining out GF/DF so much better. ** Food is always hit or miss in/near mountains towns and I'm skeptical of reviews due to the influx of people during the season. My wife found Java Lava online and we had breakfast there last weekend. The burritos were large, tasty and reasonable. I had the bagel and Lox and the serving was fresh and plentiful. They have several flavors of coffee and all were excellent. We had such a good meal we returned for lunch the following day. My son had a large cheeseburger and it was delicious. My wife and had the Grilled chicken sandwich and it was perfect. Moist, tender and covered in Chipotle mayo. The owner was very nice and made sure we had everything for our take out meals. This place is just a few miles south of Grand Lake, in the wrong direction of the park, but well worth going out of your way. My obsession with green chili's on my trip continued here with the Huevos Rancheros. Man did I savor every bite. Dave got more of a standard breakfast with eggs, nice crispy bacon, good hash browns and awesome pancakes. Planned on going for a little hike around Grandby/Grand Lake area, and this was a good spot to stop and have some fuel prior to it. It's a busy, inviting little place. You can order at the counter and then sit down at a table with your number, and they bring your food to you. You also have the option to grab and go. We ordered breakfast burritos, which came smothered in green chili. The burrito itself was ok, nothing notable, but nothing super special either. Pretty decent considering mountain town standards. But just like everywhere else there. No a/c so grab an outside shady table. Get in line, order, get a number and wait. They were busy and told us 35 mins but it was quicker. French toast good. If you get something you don't like expect it to not be fixed. Java Lava was a great surprise. It doesn't look like much from the outside but it is full of love on the inside. You can tell they are passionate about hospitality and fill their food with yummy goodness. You are welcomed as you enter and get right in line to place your order. Then you find a seat and wait, you may have to for awhile, but it is so worth it. I had the Java Lava Breakfast and it was delicious. My husband got the Breakfast Burrito and it was equally as fabulous. They make specialty latte's that are simply divine. Their fresh, home cooked breakfast is worth the drive and wait! The cashier seemed like she was not interested in serving me... After completing the transaction for the person in front of me, I stepped up to place my order. She did not even look up or say anything to acknowledge my presence. I stood there for about 2 minutes and she didn't say a word. This is a cute little cafe in the mountains. They have a bunch of different coffees and seasonal drinks too. They have baked goods like muffins, cookies, and brownies. Their breakfast is good, not necessarily cheap but decent prices. I got the pancake breakfast and almost ate the whole thing! My bf got biscuits and gravy, eggs, and hash browns.
