Another plumber was telling us that he thought we were going to have to replace the entire box for the washer / dryer hook-up, which would include breaking the drywall. Adan said he was in the neighborhood, and would come by to look at the situation for a "second opinion," which he assessed in about two minutes and determined that all we had to do was replace the knob/handle of the cold water valve. He went out and got the right part and had it fixed by the afternoon, potentially saving us at least $1000+ if we had followed the other plumber's advice. Better yet, I now get to have my new washer / dryer installed on Monday instead of another week down the road! He was right that plumbers are like mechanics, and you need to make sure that you find someone who is honest and cares about their job and the people they serve by trying to implement the smartest, most efficient and economical solution versus creating the job into something much bigger than it needs to be. ****SAL does NOT like to pull permits for his work. Make SURE you don't make the mistake we did and…read morelet Sal slide by not getting permits for his work!!!!!!! Would NOT recommend! We needed a whole house re-wire about 5 years ago. We asked Sal at the time, "shouldn't we get this permitted?" Sal told us many reasons why we didn't need a permit: big hassle, adds a big fee to the rewire, just don't need one. Sal assured us that he did all his work to code and did everything that would have been required for a permit, just without the permit. Fast forward to now, we are selling that house and the buyer is requesting that all electrical work be permitted. We called Sal to come and do anything necessary to get the permit, Sal gave the same excuses. "It will open a whole can of worms, the city will require other things be permitted, it'll cost so much.." etc etc. Finally we had to hire a different electrician to pull the permit and check Sal's work, turns out, Sal did NOT do everything required for a whole house re-wire. Here is what Sal did NOT do, in selling us a whole house re-wire that he said was to code. We paid Sal $20,510.00 for the job he did. We ended up paying an additional $5,000 for work that SHOULD have been done by Sal. Including the permit cost and city inspections. Supply and install (1) ground rod, grounding electrode clamp, and bond to panel. Supply and run approx 80 ft of copper grounding electrode conductor to main water pipe bond. Supply and install panel-mounted surge protective device (SPD). Correct missing AFCI/GFCI protection by installing dual-function circuit breakers in main panel. Trace and separate circuits sharing neutral conductors to eliminate cross-circuit overload and code violations. Install/replace 5-6 GFCI outlets in garage and interior required locations. Install green grounding screws and properly bond metal/outlet boxes across 15-20 junction/switch boxes. Replace 3 breakers with different brand. Tie circuits in sub panel. We have all receipts and correspondence from city inspector, we have text from Sal saying he didn't want to get the permits. PLEASE be careful with this electrician. NOT getting permits will cost you in the future!! ALWAYS GET PERMITS FOR WORK DONE TO YOUR HOME!!!
