The fence looked clean and professionally installed at first. However, we were later notified by the City of Fernandina Beach that the fence had been installed without the required permit. A survey conducted after installation confirmed that portions of the fence were built over our neighbor's property line. We had provided the installer with a proper survey prior to installation. Despite that, the fence was installed incorrectly and without city approval. The garbage enclosure portion of the project was also installed improperly. Only one door shaft/support was installed on one side, preventing the enclosure door from securing properly. Because the door would not stay in place, it was damaged by the garbage truck. This was a direct result of improper installation. Our written contract includes a lifetime warranty. Once these issues surfaced: We contacted the company multiple times via phone, email, and text. The City contacted them directly regarding the permit and compliance violations. No corrective action was taken. No one returned to address the fence placement issue. No one returned to repair the garbage enclosure. The lifetime warranty has not been honored. We have since learned that the company is not licensed in Fernandina Beach, despite advertising the area on their website as part of their service region. Because of the unpermitted and improperly installed work, we are now required to: Remove the fence. Apply for proper permits. Reinstall the fence inside our property line and in compliance with city code. Repair or replace the damaged garbage enclosure. This situation could have been entirely avoided had proper permitting, survey verification, and basic installation standards been followed. If you hire this company, confirm in writing: That required permits will be pulled before work begins. That they are properly licensed in your municipality. That installation will strictly follow the survey. That warranty obligations will actually be fulfilled. A fence that looks good is meaningless if it is unpermitted, improperly placed, and unsupported by the warranty promised in the contract.

When I decided to get a puppy who weighed 6 1/2 pounds, I knew I needed to install a puppy fence that had aluminum bars which were closer together at the bottom (ground level) than at the top. I had, however, an initial problem. The survey of my home, needed for the transaction, was not in my closing documents and could not be found anywhere. Fortunately, Tish in the Best Fence office rode to the rescue. She contacted people she knew in allied fields and located what I needed. Her years of experience with Best Fence had plainly allowed her to develop seriously useful contacts. The company employees who installed the fence were friendly and reliable, and when they left, they took with them all debris created by the installation. Once I got my puppy, I realized that she was a "digger." That was a particular problem because my backyard was not flat, which had made it a challenge to have the fence hug the ground while still looking even at the top. I emailed an SOS to Tish and she promptly sent out an experienced employee who swiftly lowered the fence closer to the ground while still preserving the appearance at the top. Norman Fence Company was literally half the price of all the other quotes! Plus the timeline on the other quotes was months or weeks away. They gave us a quote and came out the next week! On Monday all the fencing was done. On Tuesday a smaller team came out and worked on the long rolling gate that faces the alley. This 1930s home has never had an enclosed fence as far as I know. We have a 11-week old puppy in the house so the timing couldn't have been better. If you're a meticulous homeowner and you care about every little detail, they might not be the right company for you. But If you want a reasonably-priced fence made of strong materials installed quickly--call them now! PS I love that they installed the 'ugly' side of the fence facing the neighbors. They blame the CCP virus for their inability to procure materials. This is not my problem. They clearly have a Single Point of Failure and don't care about fixing it. DON'T sign a contract with these folks, once you do that they have you over a barrel. Read the fine print, every clause is in their favor. They have been blaming the CCP virus for their problems instead of finding a work-around, and they just keep our money and DO NOTHING to resolve the issue. Once these folks get your money, forget about it, you're done.
