From the moment you arrive, the exterior of the establishment presents an absolute visual triumph stunning, impressive, and beautifully maintained. Stepping inside, the ambiance is impeccably clean and serene, accented by majestic statues of classic Indian deities, including a magnificent depiction of Lord Ganesha. I hold a deep appreciation and respect for all cultures and traditions, and these artistic touches lend such a sophisticated, authentic atmosphere to the room. The service was nothing short of splendid. My waiter was remarkably gracious, attentive, and welcoming throughout the meal. I began with a Mango Lassi, which was perfectly chilled, velvety, and delightful. They seated us immediately, and the ambiance was great, but unfortunately the service did not match the atmosphere. Our drinks took around 10 minutes to arrive even though there were only two other tables besides our party of eight. Some of the plates were dirty or cracked, and the silverware was placed on the table in a way that felt careless and unprofessional. They advertised guava drinks, but after about 15 minutes our server came back and said he couldn't get it out of the can and asked if I wanted something else instead. Meanwhile, we watched tables that arrived after us receive their food while we were still waiting for ours. We were also told they had no regular napkins available and were only given small cocktail napkins. Overall, it felt like the restaurant was unprepared for guests that night. The server did seem like he was trying, which I appreciated, but overall the service felt disorganized and slow, and our table did not feel like a priority. Service was friendly and sufficient. We ordered medium spice and it was perfectly on the edge of too spicy but not over it. Chicken vindaloo had a lot more meat in it than many restaurants give. It's often more a bowl of sauce. KTM chicken had a really nice flavor. I'd get either again. Also the bullet and garlic naans were both very tasty. Jax Spice is hands-down one of if not the best Indian restaurants in town. The staff and service is amazing and the food is just an explosion of taste and textures. Their medium curries are very good with sufficient heat, but not so much that it overpowers the flavor. Every time I go, I'm convinced that I will try something different but I usually wind up getting either the red curry or the tikka masala. They're both very good. Even if you don't live close to the beaches, it's worth the drive out there to have excellent Indian food. read more

I've tried many Indian restaurants and decided to try this one located in Jacksonville beach. Unfortunately this one was not worth it. We ordered their meat balls, samosa chaat and paneer tikka for appetizers. First the service was slow. We were seated right away but kept waiting for our server to take our order. The appetizers were okay. Nothing to brag about. We also tried their chicken Briyani. The chicken was boneless. They do not have authentic Briyani with bone in chicken. This tasted more like pulao than Briyani. Not all that. We also tried their saag paneer, which I didn't like. Saag could be better in terms of flavor. The location of this restaurant is good and they have full bar too. But they need to work on their service and food flavor. Their prices are also high. We sampled some food from Jaxspice at a recent Yelp event and decided we had to go if we were ever close by. This weekend, we had our chance. Jaxspice is simply an amazing dining experience. The interior is beautiful, serene. The service was excellent, the food impeccable. I also had a quick glimpse of the kitchen and it was the cleanest I think I've seen. Great drink selections, even better food. We got the fried vegetable appetizer along with the chicken 65. Both fantastic. The sauces were the perfect accent as well. We also split an order of Biryani. The rice, perfect, amazing flavor and you can choose your own spice level. We went 3 out of 6. We couldn't finish everything. The portions are immense. Our waiter was fantastic, pleasant, attentive, he was definitely a positive part of our experience. We'll be back whenever we're at the beach and I can't wait for their new location to open in the Town Center. I highly recommend Jaxspice. Friends took me to Jaxspice on a brief visit. Great Indian fare! I highly recommend the Samosa Chaat and the chettinad, both excellent. The na'an is everything it should be, warm and garlicky in this case. The only bone I would pick is with spice level. The server offered spice n a 1 to 6 scale, my dining partners chose "2" for their butter chicken and i chose "4" for the chettinad. I would expect 6 to be a blow your head off experience, so 4 should carry a good amount of spice. I would call the 4 mild, and the 2 unspiced. Still, the flavors were all good, the service was great, and the atmosphere enjoyable. Three entrees, two appetizers, two breads, no drinks -- $122 with tip. Worth a trip back. read more

We love Jax Spice at the beach but the service is always so spotty....we went for my twins bday dinner and we were a party of 8 - 6pm on Sunday. I called ahead for a reservation. We arrived and they had our table ready. We ordered our drinks and it took forever to get them and then our appetizers came out before our drinks arrived. They were completely out of napkins so we had to use Bev naps with our meal. Honestly, if you're out of napkins, go to the store and buy some. At minimum put paper towels on the tables. Finally, our food arrived sporadically and again our waiter was very nice, but just very disengaged and not around when we needed something. The food was fantastic as usual but again they have a staffing issue and the restaurant wasn't even that busy. JaxSpice was recommended to me by a coworker and I'm so glad they did. When I walked in and could smell all the spices and seasonings I knew it was going to be good. The menu is a digital tablet which made it easy to read and see pictures of all the dishes. I'm a huge fan of dumplings so I was excited to try the chicken momo which did not disappoint. They were SO good! They offer a heat level of 1 to 6 on their dishes. I ordered a 3 with my chicken noodles and it made me sweat. It was packed full of flavor. Our waiter was so attentive and I think he noticed how slow I was eating my fish and asked if it was too hot for me. I told him it was ok because it tasted so good. He continued to check in and bring water. He also brought a complimentary bowl of rice. For dessert I wanted to try the tiramisu. It wasn't as good as the rest of our meal. It was frozen which was a little bit of a let down but it tasted good and balanced the heat from our entrees. The only other issue I had was that it was very warm in the restaurant but luckily my table was under a ceiling fan that helped but the ice melted in our drinks quickly and covered our table with sweat from our glasses. This is the only reason I didn't give 5 stars. I highly recommend trying JaxSpice though if you want a lot of flavor and spice to perk up your day. read more

What a great find in Jaxbeach. Just a short block from the ocean. What could be better than delicious Indian food near the beach? My husband and I are here visiting with friends that live in Jacksonville. They recently found this gem and told us about it. We were excited to go try it. When we walked in, we were greeted by Ryan. He seated us and we proceeded to tell him ALL about our food restrictions and preferences. My husband and I are vegan, and our friends eat gluten free and sugar fee. Ryan said:"No Problem"! He immediately made recommendations for each of us and no one was disappointed. The appetizer was out before we knew it. It was hot and crunchy and not at all greasy. We all loved it. For main dishes we tried 4 different entrees. One was tandoori chicken, a chickpea in a yogurt sauce, Baigen bharta, a spinach and tofu dish and an amazing spinach dish. Each was superb. As we were enjoying our food Ryan wanted us to taste one more dish and brought us a different spinach dish with chicken peas. That too was amazing. Once we were done we realized that we would have enough for another meal. Ryan helped us pack it all up and also added more rice so we surely would all have plenty to eat for another meal. Amazing food and service from start to finish. After sampling food at the Yelp Tour back in May, we finally schedule time to dine at the Jax beach location. The restaurant is right in the main area of Jacksonville Beach so finding parking might be the only challenge, depending on the time of day. We found 2 hour parking close by which made for a quick walk to the restaurant. We were greeted immediately and provided tablets to view the menu. Our waters were filled immediately and continuously throughout the meal. The restaurant itself is beautiful, clean and spacious. Our server was wonderful, kind, attentive and helpful. We ordered two appetizers to start, Chicken 65 and Veg Pakora. We chose the Mild+ heat for the chicken which was delicious but we would probably would go one higher on the heat. I was cautious and really enjoyed the heat level but my husband would prefer a little more heat. The mixed vegetable crispy & crunchy fritters were great and even better with the sauces. For our entree, we chose the shrimp + vegetable Biryani combination and a side of roti. So much delicious food and plenty of leftovers to take home. We asked about the new location set to open at the town center and we're excited to hear this location closer to home should be open sometime this summer. We went to Jaxspice while we were staying nearby on the beach in April. Everything was spiced to perfection - some of the best Indian I've had for a long time. I had a curry named chettinad that was fantastic - onion and coconut and spices blended perfectly. My husband had a different lamb curry and enjoyed it a lot. The naan was great and so was my mango lassi. The kids portion of paneer tikka masala was huge - I tasted it and it was great as well. The toddler's favorite part was the samosas. Decor was nice but it was a little loud. My only complaint was that it was very slow - it took a while to get our order and it was almost 45 minutes before anything arrived after we flagged someone down, so I think we might have been forgotten about. It was a busy Saturday though, and when they realized the error they brought comped samosas and some rice for our daughter right away. I'd be happy to go back - especially since the other location turns out to be pretty close to our new home. read more

Hungry, road-weary, and in from out of town on a Friday night when the loveliest of smells caresses our noses. The delightfull smells wafting from JaxSpice. Dinner solved! We enjoy a lot of Indian and Nepalese food and have a set of "staples" that we order for our first visit at a new restaurant. Tonight that meant chicken tikka masala, tandoori chicken, garlic naan, pass on chicken mommi as deep fried only), and mango lassi. Ambiance is good, but very loud (busy night combined with club music) - low lighting, but still bright enough to see your dinner partner and your food. Staff was friendly, but haggard even at mid-service. It felt like there may have been some glassware shortages in the kitchen. A good mix of guest tables (2 to 10 tops). Food,though, was slow moving out of the kitchen. Time from seated (pretty quick) to served for us was an hour and several minutes (longer than expected wait to order, longer yet for the food to arrive in comparable situations). When the food did arrive, we were past being hungry. Tandoori was good. The tikka was a bit on the sweet side and not as hot as we had expected (3 on a scale of 5 cam.put as a 2). The meal might have been very tasty had in arrived when we were ravenous. Indian food right by the beach?! YES! We went for lunch to JaxSpice. I thought we were cutting it close since lunch closes at 2:30pm, and I got there around 2pm. But the staff was friendly to let us come in and eat and stay as long as we'll want. The interior is modern, they have lots of seating inside along with bar seating as well. The menu is on an iPad which is cool and I've never seen. The food is DELICIOUS! They spice level is from a scale of 1-6, we ordered at least a 4 which was the perfect level. Definitely recommend the Gobhi Manchurian, butter chicken, and ALL the drinks cause they look so good! This is a restaurant I will be going back to in the future! read more

We were greeted and sat promptly! The restaurant is massive and breathtaking! Furniture is wooden with leather embroidery! The bar is decked out with neon lighting that brightens the restaurant a bit. They don't play any music which is perfect because me and my friends were able to have intimate conversations without having to yell at each other over loudness. I ordered their Jax spice chili margarita. The muddled chilis brought this drink to a solid 9.5 rating! The best part is, it only costs, $8 during their happy hour!!!!!! I ordered their garlic naan, butter chicken, side of vegetables and basmati rice. Enough for two people and it costed me about $35. Me and my best friend split it! The butter chicken was rich in nutritious, savory tomato based spiced sauce and the garlic naan was baked to perfection! I mixed in the vegetables!! Amazing!!!! The Chicken KTM (Kathmandu Chicken) should be one of the most popular dishes. I'm surprised it isn't more recommended on Yelp. If I had ordered that my rating might be higher, but I only had some of my coworker's. I myself had the chettinad curry with chicken, which is a coconut curry. It was ok but definitely not the best choice in comparison with the chicken KTM. I love this kind of curry with lamb at other places but it missed the mark here, maybe it'd be better with lamb but I didn't love the chicken breast and thought it could have more flavor. I didn't go with lamb since it was lunchtime and I wanted something light. The samosas were pretty good, but the star of the dish was definitely the tamarind chutney. The garlic naan was good as well. The service was good, they were attentive and offered extra rice with our dishes. read more

We ordered three dishes and an appetizer. The okra was extremely chewy, woody, very difficult to chew. The flavors were good, but not typical of the Indian food we are used to coming from the northeast. Typically, we are used to more complex flavors with the right mix of sour, sweet and salt, this food was very salty and simple and its flavor profile and not as enjoyable. Being on Third Street, JaxSpice is a little off the well travel track of Jacksonville Beach but remains very popular amongst locals. The menu items are nicely varied and complete with heavy leanings on Indian cuisine and influences with such items as Tadaka Daal, Bhindi Marsala, a boneless marinate Methiwali Kali Murge chicken, and a sundry of other dishes. Indeed, this is full-fledged restaurant food; not bar food. JaxSpice is a large spacious space and can easily accommodate private events, so no worries about being too crowded. On Mondays, it's closed and on other days only open until 10 PM. The service I had was pleasant, friendly and professional and the Cucumber Martini was of a decent pour of cucumber vodka, St. Germain, agave and muddled cucumber; very good. Sorry to say we're having a very disappointing night here at Jax Spice. We've been coming here since they opened. We've even met the owners who live in our neighborhood. We arrived around 7pm on a Saturday night. We were promptly seated and we placed our order. Other than our very delicious appitizer which came out about 50 minutes ago with our drinks, we haven't seen our server or our food. It's now 8:25 pm. We've been sitting here for over an hour. We're not the only ones. We're hungry and cranky and we've been waiting way too long for our meal which I'm assuming doesn't take long to make. I know all the excuses on hiring and staff but I really don't care. Our entrees each cost in the high 20s we did sides and an appitizer plus drinks. I'm sure our check with our usual 20% tip will come to around $100 or so. This place obvious has some operational issues and maybe one place to look at is the carry out orders flying out the door which I'm thinking might take priority over those of us dining in. I hope they figure it out because the food is good but nothing is worth the frustration of waiting this long for a meal. There stars is generous tonight and it might be some time before we're back. *****Update***** Our food eventually came and as expected, it was phenomenal. I would also share the management reached out to me and acknowledged their challenges last night and apologized. They didn't make excuses and they promised to make it right, so I have adjusted my review accordingly based on their quick and appropriate response. They can be cut in half if sharing. -------------------- We ordered and thoroughly enjoyed our three favorite Indian entrees: LAMB KORMA: Thickened rich creamy onion sauce, blended with house spices. You can choose your meat but we always go for the lamb. CHICKEN TIKKA MASALA: Tomato-based creamy curry with house-blended spices. The tomato cream sauce was wonderful! BUTTER CHICKEN: Chicken strips in butter gravy masala sauce with house spice blended to perfection. I mean how can you go wrong with a buttery curry? ROTI: we opted for this whole wheat bread instead of the white Naan. The roti didn't come with butter. I found it to be a little dry. I'd go for buttered Naan next time. WINE: They have a nice wine cellar with a window wall, which Is something I am not accustomed to seeing in an Indian restaurant.
