This place has great reviews and fully booked ahead of time so our expectations were high when we made our reservation. They're only available on the weekends after 5PM and we had to wait a month to go. Yelpers were raving about their Ragu dish. Their menu is very limited and by looking at the pictures, that Ragu definitely caught my eye. I'm a meat eater and this plate has chunks of beef so I ordered it. Come to find out, they change the meat and pasta often so the meat they put in Ragu that night was ground beef (like bolognese) and the pasta was the large macaroni type. Very disappointed to say the least. Steak chunks in parpadelle pasta just like what they served prior would have been five stars! My wife's pasta dish was also changed to gnocchi which she didn't care for. We definitely went on a wrong night, but what can you do if your reservation is still a month away? The only thing I enjoyed was the tiramisu. Light and not too sweet. Service was slow although our server was friendly and accommodating. Mamasamas is only available for dinner and maybe because it's cooler at night. The place had fans running throughout and windows open. Not sure if it has air conditioning. read more

Mamasama is only open from Friday to Sunday only. so we made the reservation a month before because they are always fully booked. We arrived and was glad they have ample parking. It was quite loud outside but it wasn't when we went inside. Here was our experience: Service- slow and not very attentive. When we arrived, we waited for a few minutes without being acknowledged but the staff definitely saw us. It's a small restaurant and it's hard to miss the people coming in. After receiving our drinks, we were ready to order but our server immediately left us. Usually after serving drinks, they would ask if we are ready to order or if we need more time to check the menu. He did neither. So we were left waiting again. We had to call his attention to order. Food - we ordered the bread (Pane Fresco), it was supposedly baked fresh so I was expecting it to be warm, it was not. They did provide another basket that was warmed. The burrata was good but not great. I enjoyed my husband's Ragu, you can really tell that the pasta was house made, it was cooked Al dente, delicious but small portion for the price. I was disappointed with my order. Arrabbiata is one of my favorite sauces and although it was tasty, I did not particularly like the gnocchi. This is probably the first time I did not finish a dish in a while. The highlight of our dinner was the Tiramisu. It was rich and creamy, I would recommend ordering this. I noticed that the menu changes when I checked Yelp prior to coming here. But the only difference would be the type of meat and pasta they use in the Ragu and Arrabbiata. We booked the Mamasama Team for an in-home catered dinner to celebrate my wife's birthday in December and it was a magical evening. The Mamasama team made it so easy -- from building the menu, to setting up and cooking, to serving the food/wine during the meal and managing all of the cleanup. The team has such great energy they added to the whole night...not just with food, but also with their presence. We built an amazing menu (see the images) -- crowd favorites were the the pumpkin aranchini, porchini mushroom pasta and the homemade tiramisu. We had leftover meatballs the next day and they were just as good as the night of the party. I would highly recommend catering with Mamasama. Had the pleasure of meeting Nic and his mobile pizza making enterprise at a recently attended surprise 40th birthday in jax, fl. I have to say the pizza is fabulous, The red sauce used on the pizza made me feel I was right in the middle of little Italy or Sicily (see what I did there ) however, it was told to me that the owner is from Sydney, Australia......I responded immediately "if Sydney makes pizza like this then count me in mate". Found this place through OpenTable and reserved for 2. The place is very weird when I input on my Maps app. It was in the middle of residential area next to an American Legion office. We almost canceled our reservation but took courage to visit the place. I'm glad we did. The place is cozy and almost outdoor like. Our server is friendly and welcomed us. I wish I took a photo of the menu. I can't remember the name of the entrees we ordered. The food was fantastic and good enough portion. A bit pricey but I would say it's worth it. So excited to have a new great restaurant in ponte vedra! Love it here but it is the one thing missing. Started with the carpaccio. The best I'v ever had and I live in Europe and have been to Italy several times. Then the burrata also excellent. For the main course I had the mushrooms pappardelle and my husband had the ragu. The ragu was really good. The beef was very tender. I did ask for salt for my mushroom pappardelle but that might just be me but after a little salt I couldn't stop eating it. We got the cheese cake for dessert. It did not have a crust but the filling was sooo creamy and good. We got 2 espresso's but they were not served with lemon peel as is tradition soooo. Excellent reviews yes, but a completely inflexible booking policy - if you change or cancel even a part of your reservation within 24 hours of booking, you are charged $15 per person. FOR ANY REASON. This is the restaurant's policy NOT Open Table. A very POOR business decision as this leaves a very bad taste in one's mouth (pun intended). We spend a lot on eating out, have very refined tastes, and do not put up with this. Plenty of other choices in the area (Four Palms, So Napa) that every bit as good and do not do this. read more

I took my wife here on Mother's day ( their last day at this location) While the food was wonderful the service was a bit lacking.. we had to ask for a napkin and silverware after the appetizers. We started with the mushroom rice balls and they were delicious, we both had the 6 hour ragu and it was delicious as well but for the price I should have had more than I could eat, we're talking about pasta here, while it was handmade, it's not T-bone steak. Interesting venue to say the least. Pop up restaurant using patio tables and odds n ends for seating. Cozy and very busy. Carpaccio was to die for. Super thin prime filet of beef and a wonderful sauce accompaniment. Fresh mozzarella another highlight appetizer. Home made pasta feathered with a range of ingredients setting each entree apart. I had the three mushroom in cream sauce. Others tried the eggplant and the star may been beef short rib ragu. Corkage fee is out of whack at 25.00 per bottle but we managed on two Italian vinos that were reasonably priced. Dessert was fabulous too, only open Friday and Saturday nights. Reservation are a few weeks out. Not your average run of mill Italian restaurant. Worth a try and I think you won't be disappointed. read more

We tried Mamasamas after hearing good reviews and overall it was a bit of a weird experience. The food was fine but by no means was it the best Italian food in the area. Here's the weird parts: - No signage at all that shows the name of the restaurant - Loud music for no reason. It's a restaurant, not a night club, and it should be background music to allow conversations to take place. - Service was bizarre. Took forever to get water, and when we did it was in a 750ml Woodford Bourbon bottle. Getting refills took forever - I asked about the beer selection and the server rattled off a bunch. I asked for a Corona Light (which was in his list), but he brought me a Heineken beer (his own decision) because they didn't have Corona Light. - They don't have beer, wine, or dessert menus, the server just verbally tells you things.... Just a weird experience, and not what I look for when I dine out. read more
