After experiencing Dr Shawn McCall I decided to revise my Of Jay Bray. While my experience wasn't great; it wasn't hostile.

I was interested in sort of laying out the internals of our relationship to therapist/counselor to see if there were any red flags we should be aware of, and talk through anything that could potentially be problematic for a long term relationship. Most importantly, Dr. Lillie is incredibly competent in her line of work, and can remarkably quickly ask the important questions to guide couples to new perspectives on their relationship. The way that Dr. Lillie interacted with my partner and I was not only transformative in the way we think, but carried care, empathy, and psychological safety. I never felt judged, only heard, but still was compelled to change my thinking about some foundational pillars of being in a relationship. Needless to say, my partner and I are happier than we ever thought possible, and indeed got married :) I owe a lot of this to only a few conversations I had with Dr. Lillie, and to that end, I'm very grateful for the time I've shared with her.

I have spoken to other mental health professionals before, and Doreen is special. She is well versed and educated past the 'requirements' of her field. She stays up to date with current industry standards, with industry journals and periodicals, and with events in the psychology field. She has never once been biased or forced opinions (which is how it's supposed to be, but I guess this isn't always the case), and she has always had additional resources and helpful suggestions. Instead of just talking about my issues and background she offers book titles, workshops she came across, workbooks---let me be clear that I asked for these recommendations, she does not require or even persuade me to look into these additional resources. She also has a lot of experience with many types of therapy and counseling, which I think makes her better across the board at her job. I very much value Doreen as a professional, and at this point think of her as on my advisory board of my personal life because she has helped me have so many breakthroughs over the years.

I originally looked on Yelp and read the reviews for Searching Pathways and Dr. Robert Mitchell. His outlined approach and the positive reviews matched exactly what I was looking for. My experience with our in-person therapy sessions has fully lived up to those expectations. Going into it, I wasn't entirely aware of all that I was "carrying." Dr. Mitchell created a safe, welcoming environment for me to unpack and resolve lingering issues in my present that were being influenced by my past. The people in my life and my relationships have noticed a genuinely positive impact, and I'm incredibly proud of the work we've done and the tools Dr. Mitchell has provided me. Working with him has been a very enriching and helpful experience. I highly recommend him!
