Dangerous for kids and Noisy. OMG want to feel like you are a factory worker? Enjoy the loud speaker, bells and whistles from the factory adjacent to the park at night. They let off a loud steam noise sure to wake you up every hour or so. Bring ear plugs if sleep is important to you. The scrap yard next to the RV park is quiet at night but the sound of cranes dropping metal during the day isn't much. The good news is that the Corrections Department (jail) is walking distance from the park. I didn't hear noise coming from there but saw shady characters lurking around. Now there is a large concrete area that has about a 15 foot drop off. It needs to be fenced. If you fall down there you could get seriously hurt or worse. Not to worry they make you sign a release that they proudly tells you "you cant sue us if you get hurt". The pictures on their website are of a few locations. This place feels like a real dump to me. I booked four nights and left the next day. I asked for a refund but they said "the owner doesn't allow refunds". Don't pay for more than one night. Renter beware . read more

Beautiful views here! We stayed for 2 months, and it's been great. The staff are wonderful! Jessica makes you feel at home from the first day you check in. She gave me the run down on the grocery stores :) We checked into site #26. (The website has a map that you can go look at.) It was one of the "cheaper" spots. We travel budget so cheaper is good. The spot had a fire ring and parking for two vehicles. It fit our 34' travel trailer easy and the lots are gravel and level. The view is spectacular. Lots to do nearby. Big business is just 8 miles away, any restaurant or store you could think of. If you stay in for the day, they have a pool and the marina, kayaking, and enough green grounds to have a pleasant walk with your dog. There's a junkyard right behind the "cheaper" section, but you'll only hear them 8-4. Honestly, they weren't near as loud as some roads we've been next to. There's a train that rolls through from a bit away. if you happen to be awake you'll hear it early morning, but it's not loud enough to wake ya! I was awake several times and I actually enjoyed the train sounds. They have a laundry room (ranks them high on my list lol) and a bath house, both kept spotless. Next time we go back, we are gonna go for a premium spot and have those sunrises over the water out my window and more green room for our dog. Well done Jay Landings! This camp ground is NOT closed. But it certainly isn't geared toward normal RV'ers. It is on the water. So if you have a boat and RV it might be okay. It is near a lot of plants. If there WERE a place to get in the water to swim, I wouldn't. The co-owner is very nice. Was anxious to tell me everyone here were construction workers, not locals because locals cause problems. Nothing attractive about the place. Does seem clean, but I probably won't try the bathrooms. Had I known Point Mallard, which has a good Woodall's rating, was only a few miles further I would have gone there. The Good Sam club, of which I am a member rated this place 8 out of 10. The rated must have been seriously impaired or well paid. Oh, also was told it has WiFi. It is secured and I couldn't get anyone to answer the phone after we paid to get the password. read more

Worth stopping at especially if you get a spot on the water. We will return IF it's a waterfront spot . Not your typical RV park, more of a marina with RV options. Having full hookups is a bonus! Bathrooms clean and awesome community fire pit with corn hole and a giant jenga game..... We didn't use it but looked great A friendly raccoon stopped by at dinner time and stole our pasta bowl and hung out with us for awhile :) read more

Location was perfect for our needs, level spot, pleasant to walk out on the point, quiet. Elizabeth was efficient and helpful. Good restaurants in town. We will not return because maintenance is very poor. The only issue for us and the reason for one star. Bathrooms are dirty and 1/4 mile from our site. Road into Jay's Landing is terrible. Full of deep potholes. Hookup station on our site was falling over. Doesn't seem it would take much to make this a nice Park read more

Great place when you need a peaceful break from driving. Lots of great restaurants nearby as well as fun things to do. and if you want to do nothing and be by the water you couldn't of found a better place. Oh yeah the fishing is fantastic also. At night it's fun to sit around the fire pit and meet with others from across North America and discuss travel adventures and share stories and laugh. I met a lady from California that looks forward to coming to Jay Landings Marina, this was her third year in a row here. She told me her and her husband stop here for about 2 weeks, they love it that much! As for our family, we enjoy the 'good old fashioned' service that Joel & Elizabeth and the whole staff provide during our stay. read more

Very similar to roughing it (mud and all) by the river only with electric, water and sewer. Regardless of anything (State or personal emergencies), reservations not cancelled 7 days in advance are not refundable where other campgrounds did give us a refund due to a state declared emergency. On May 27, 2018 when "The governors of Alabama, Florida and Mississippi declared a state of emergency in their states as Subtropical Storm Alberto spread north and west. As for a overall review of Jay's Landing in Decatur Alabama, see below: Con's: -Interface with management done only by phone. Reservation, check-in & problem resolution. -400 feet of very pot holed narrow driveway. Many potholes in little bit of asphalt then much more potholes in the more clay than gravel drive. (Very muddy when it rains) -More long term "campers" in the park then recreational RV campers -Paper litter, cigarette butts, nut & bolts, metal scraps found on camp sites. -Bathroom & shower building is far from camping sites -Sites are close to each other -No fishing allowed. Pro's - 2 unisex bathrooms & showers were clean -Site utilities (electric, water & sewer) are convenient. Electric 30 amp circuit showed good connection and grounding. -Reservation email sent with a site map document with your site. -Picnic tables at each site. -Nice river view Common area gazebo with a fire pit and a little playground.
