Rarely do I wait longer then 15mins. Before doing any work, they explain what your insurance will pay and what's expected out of pocket. Unlike some, they allow payments (as long as you show good faith on your part). I like some hygienists more than others, but it's more to do with personality than care quality. Dr, Freeman is the best. He is very personable and makes going to the dentist bearable. I have terrible teeth thanks to genetics, and have had several root canals, fillings etc. Doc always makes sure to explain what he is doing, then once he starts, every few minutes he'll stop and make sure I'm not having any discomfort.

For new patients, you're given a tablet with a few documents to sign and complete - super quick! Their waiting area is so chic, yet comfortable. The decor is above what you'd expect at a typical dental office with random chairs for patients to sit in. Once you complete your new patient process, you're given a tour of the facility. Although it's on the smaller side, the fact that the staff takes the time to walk you through and show you various rooms/bathrooms, makes you feel all the more comfortable and welcomed. The exam rooms are clean and spacious. I had xrays done and pictures taken with an oral camera, that shows you areas of plaque build up, etc. The hygienist (Kayla) walks you through the whole process from xrays to cleaning. She does a great and thorough job. Dr. Joh comes in and examines you, asks if there are areas of concerns and reviews the xrays. At the end of the examine and cleaning, you're given a goodie bag with items (reusable cup, toothbrush, toothpaste, floss and sanitizer wipes) - just that extra effort. The office itself is extremely sharp, modern, and clean. Each room has it's own flat screen which doubles as a computer monitor. The chairs are some of the most comfortable I have ever experienced in a Dentist's office, and also have a massage function. Dr. Dietz himself was highly professional, friendly, kind, and compassionate. His bedside manner was phenomenal, and he was very patient. Dr. Dietz uses a microscope that I have never seen used before during the surgery, that allows him to zoom in much further. The procedure itself was uncomfortable at times(as Root Canals are), but all in all I feel he did a very good job, certainly better than my previous Root Canal(done by a different Dentist). He was kind enough to call and check on me after hours, which I really appreciated. He squeezed me in as well, on a day he was booked. He obviously cares very highly about his patients. I spent over 10 minutes on the phone as a new patient, only to show up and find out the appointment had never been saved. I was pregnant at the time, had arranged a babysitter for my other child, and completely rearranged my schedule -- but they didn't. They rescheduled, but it was still a major inconvenience. I decided to give them another chance and made an appointment back in February/March. My main concern was the X-rays, which I told Matt I did have some done at a different office within the last year. I spoke with the office manager, Matt, who put me on hold for a long time before telling me I could sign a waiver to skip them. No one mentioned needing to bring copies of my previous X-rays. Today, while I was in the chair, Sammy informed me that the X-rays needed to be sent that same day and had to have been taken within the last year. No dental office works that fast, so I was basically set up to fail. When she checked with the dentist, the dentist said she had no idea why Matt told me a waiver was possible, because the X-rays are "necessary" to determine what kind of cleaning I need. This was news to me. I asked how long the wait would be for a cleaning if I got the X-rays done now, and she said December. So I'd take X-rays in May just to wait seven months for a cleaning? What if something changes in the meantime? I rearranged my kids' schedules and drove a long way for this appointment, only to feel completely burned again. I originally chose this office for their fluoride-free and cleaner practices, but the constant inconsistencies and poor communication have made me decide to take my business elsewhere. I now have to start over with a new dentist and wait who knows how long for another appointment. Matt, I'm not sure what kind of office you're running, but this level of inconsistency is unacceptable. Sammy, a little empathy would go a long way when speaking to patients who are already stressed and trying to make things work.

Started off good with filling a bad…read moretooth that my original dentist recommend the tooth being pulled and suggested a surgical extraction - I went to McKinley - Holloway she said she could fill the tooth - which I agreed to. Then they did all kinds of procedures that I didn't approve of - thousands of dollars of work was recommended. I told them I didn't approve any of these procedures done. I was given a credit and later had a tooth filled and a different tooth pulled. So the credit I had was used up. I went to a new Dentist this week they did X-rays etc and found two teeth that need to be removed and recommended another Dental Surgeon which I met with today. The charges for the two teeth is going to be less than I paid for one with McKinley. So in closing - the prices of McKinley is way to high and appear to only want to do expensive procedures. Very disappointing. I will say this the Dentist did do a good job as far as the removal of the tooth. Unfortunately the tooth she filled is now one of the teeth that will have to be pulled so I wasted a lot of money having it filled.

The work was quick, excellent and priced fair. What I really liked were how nice the people were! Every single person that you have to interact with were kind, knowledgeable and understanding. The actual office environment is very inviting & bright with books and artifacts to put you at ease. I found the music to be a bit loud in the waiting room but I'm sure if I said something they would have toned it down. DDS, Ray McKinley wrote a fascinating book; you can read it or purchase it while you are in the office.

At…read morefirst they asked me various questions regarding what was most important to me when it came to receiving dental care which I was impressed by. However, that proved to be pointless. I stated that budget was most important to me and would make or break if I were to receive certain care. My root canal procedure had to be done by a specialist at another practice which went well. After my appointment I called Summit Dental back to get a quote for the crown and set up my appointment. The gentleman told me the cost would be over $1,000 which I stated on the phone I will need to use Care Credit for that high of an amount. He said "Oh, yeah, okay." When I came in for my appointment the dental assistant taking care of me had me fill out some paperwork at the beginning of my appointment and had asked what form of payment I would be using in which I said Care Credit and she said "Okay". It wasn't until two hours later after they did most of my dental work and while I was waiting for the crown to be made that she took my card and that's when the front desk told me they don't accept Care Credit anymore. When I told them I said multiple times before my appointment started that was the form of payment I was using and no one told me that, they just said "Oh, well sorry". They refused to work with me on another option like a payment plan so I had to figure out another form of payment right then or else they wouldn't finish me crown installation which at that point was a matter of five minutes to glue it on. It felt very deceptive that they would wait until the procedure was 95% done to tell me they didn't take Care Credit even though I disclosed that was what I was going to use before and the lack of compassion and consideration to work with me on another option at that point is why I will not be returning or recommending Summit Family Dental.
