Apparently, she doesn't understand what a fade is. What it's not, is a single clipper size for your entire head, except the top. I guess it's also hard to keep track of what you're cutting, when you only spend 2 minutes cutting hair, 1.5 minutes of which is spent spinning the barber chair until the customer is nauseous.
