The coaching staff is top-notch and will push you to be your best self. The programming is by far the best programming a CrossFit gym can implement. Every time I'm back in Albuquerque, it's as if I never left! I'd recommend this gym to anyone looking to get into CrossFit.

I first called to let them know I would be dropping-in for a workout and their customer service was fantastic! From the moment I walked in this box everyone was very friendly and welcoming. Everyone treated me like a member that's been there for a long time. Classes are run very well and on time from warmup to the end of the class. Very good programming and knowledge from coaches and members. This box is maintained very well! The entire workout area is clean and neat. Every night after the last class member sweep and mop the floors. Very sanitary, you really can't beat that and your skin will thank you when you have to hit all those Burpees :) Coaches: The coaches here are absolutely amazing! All the coaches I've worked with; Issac, Jonathan, Anna, Alex, Gilbert, Vince, Derek, Sam are all extremely knowledgeable and helpful. They take the time to get you prepared for the workout and also provide helpful tips if they see you need adjustments in your technique. This is really helpful especially when you're on the pain train! These coaches are the absolute best in Albuquerque! Community: The community at Duke City Crossfit is fantastic! The entire community is welcoming and there to support one another. I really love to come here and train with this group. I've had a chance to get to know a lot of the member here and have become friends with all that I've had the pleasure of meeting. You can tell that everyone here really cares for each other. Experience: Overall, my experience has been extremely positive. From the owner, coaches, members, and box; Duke City Crossfit has done a tremendous job in building a fantastic environment. Make sure to give this place a shot when you're in ABQ, you definitely won't regret it! First off, the price starts at only $9/month so pretty much anyone can afford to come here. And for an extra $20/ fee you can get the access to their regular sauna, infrared sauna, steam room, massage room, and so many other neat extras. This gym is fully loaded with luxuries? And it's brand new only 2 weeks old! It has a grass area, and tons and tons of strength and cardio equipment. They have a kids play area if you have little ones, a movie theater, yeah I said that, a movie theater (never seen that at a gym before), they have classes, yoga, a juice bar with calorie counter juices and smoothies, and even a picketball court!! The front desk staff were friendly and informative about the gym, and it was very clean. I feel like I need to switch my gym membership! But likely I'll be getting a second membership here because these guys aren't nationwide I don't think, and I tend to travel a lot.

Cons: Might as well start off with the complaints, lol…read more 1. A violation of privacy lawsuit, a stabbing or a shooting, is just waiting to happen at your SW side gym! The Coors & Central Men's locker room, so I have heard from several members, is just a constant dodging guys taking pictures of you naked and undressing, or coming out of the shower. I live on the Eastside and have been going there since the 1st year that they opened. I have never been photographed that I know of, naked in the locker rooms at Winrock, in all these years. After a few of years of members always telling me that that the South Westside location had a superior steam and sauna, I decided to check it out. I was warned by a few guys that fights often breakout in the locker rooms because there are so many members filming other guys coming in and out of the showers, and undressing at their lockers. I asked these members, if steam is so good over there, why do you come to Winrock? They all said the same thing, basically... that they will drive more than 30 minutes across town, rather than get shot, get punched, or get stabbed by someone in that locker room. I was filmed by 4 different camera guys while I was coming out of the showers or undressing, in just a week that I went to that location. I am not going back there, no matter how good the steam and sauna are. From what I hear, It just seems to be getting worse and worse at that location. I hear that they place No Picture Signs directly on the mirrors, and they just rip them off. I had to verbally tell 2 guys to delete the damn pictures!! One was respectful, and said sorry. The other one.... Let's just say...... Class Action Lawsuit? A third one was a little buffed guy that was live filming. I was coming out of the showers, I saw the setup. I asked him if he was filming, before a stepped across naked. He said yes, sorry, and pulled his phone off the ledge. The 4th one, the guy was taking pics in the mirror at the sinks, which reflects perfect back at the locker area that I was at. I asked if he got me in the pic, he said no and looked like he wanted to fight me. It was close. I did not dare ask to see the pictures as he looked pretty serious. As far as I can see, there are never any employees in that locker room, or the wet area on Coors & Central. These places seem never to be policed, at least in the evenings that I went. This is a problem gym...... I asked if anyone has reported these picture takers, a couple of them said yes, but the problem is that staff does not care, or is just simply restricted to what corporate enforces. They have a policy, but it is not enforced. One guy told me that he almost fought another guy that had a tripod setup in the locker room, but that the guy started reaching in his bag for something. Needless to say, he hauled ass the hell out of there without reporting it. I think that Chuze is proud of it's young gangster infested location. They literally painted a mural on one wall in a street-gangster style of font and design. All I can say is that, we are in Albuquerque. If an aggressive lawyer can sue McDonalds for millions, for the coffee being too hot, and win, I am all in for the class action lawsuit of a violation of privacy due to Chuze not enforcing their own policy. I have spent too much time already on this, but if Chuze is listening. You probably want to fix this before someone does actually get shot on that side of town, or a lawyer gets word of just how bad it is there. At my location, we have the mirrors framed, and they sit up higher, like above the waist. At that SW location, the mirrors are wall to wall, and sit pretty much at waist level or below. It is the perfect mirror setup for recording posing routines. Another thing you could do is frost the mirrors, which I have heard from another member, that you have done before in other locations. 2. Steam rooms in all locations are constantly occupied with members wearing full pants and running shoes. Since the gym opened in Albuquerque, (Winrock), I have only seen one time where members wearing shoes and pants were asked to leave the steam. I believe that was Jill who enforced that. I have been in the wet area not 100s of times, but 1,000s of times! 3. No water fountains at 2 locations in the wet area. Sucks to not have water in these areas while you sweat like a pig. Pros - Great rates, good amenities for the most part. Clean machines, good machines. Bad ass movie theater cardio, dope low light little semi private weight rooms. Awesome massage chairs and recovery rooms.

At the end of June, I called several times to cancel my membership, but each time I was told to call back because the manager wasn't available. In July, I finally had to go in person because every time I called, the manager was either unavailable or in a meeting. I even left my contact information for a callback and never received one. When I spoke with Jenna, she told me I would be charged for August, but if I provided proof that I had moved along with my new address, the August charge would be waived. I submitted the requested documentation that same day in July, including proof of my new address. Unfortunately, Genesis rejected my documentation, and I'm still being charged for August. I never missed a payment and my account was fully paid through July. This has been an extremely frustrating experience. The lack of communication, inconsistent information, and failure to honor what I was told has been very disappointing. I expected a much smoother cancellation process, especially after providing everything that was requested.

We turned our living room into a makeshift home fitness center and managed to workout daily for years, and even after the Great Unmasking, we were hesitant. In September, we decided to give this Orangething in our backyard a go. Five days a week, this place has me dripping within about 13 minutes of the hour long ordeal. For the uninitiated, this program cycles through treadmill, rowing machine and floor exercises, every day offers a dynamic, carefully timed routine, and I always start on the tread because I'm the type of person that wants to get the worst part over with right away. I can say that during my decade-plus time working out at UFC Gym, I never lost weight. Here, in just a couple months, I'm down at least seven pounds and two inches disappeared from my waistline. Sweet. The quality of instructors generally blows me away. Diverse in gender, ethnicity and age, these people are the pinnacle of professionalism, I just can't believe they teach every class as if they've rehearsed it for weeks. The office is friendly, and if you're a social butterfly you'll find your gun show tribe, here. Most importantly, you'll tell yourself, over and over again, "I can do anything for 60 seconds" and in time you'll know precisely how short, and achingly long, 60 seconds can last.
