I've been going to this gym now for a couple of months since I have a second home in Albuquerque. It's much better than my club in Manhattan. They are well priced, and they offer a huge variety of classes... I have been going to yoga almost every day and I have found the instructors to be experienced and highly competent. I mostly run in the ABQ Bosque during the spring and fall, so I haven't really needed to use their treadmills much but I expect that will change in the winter. On the few occasions when I have needed to use them because it was cold, or I haven't had time to get down to the river, there have been plenty of machines and no wait times. This is obviously an operation that does well at scale. One of the best gyms I have used in my life. read more

Steam room is way too hot! Turn it down! This is the only place that has turned what should be a therapeutic and enjoyably experience into pure misery. Can't spend more than a couple of minutes at a time in it. That doesn't help anything. The sign next to the steam room says it will be kept at approximately 110 degrees. It's much hotter. The steam cycles on every thirty seconds or so. That's crazy, I asked an attendant what temperature the steam room was kept at and he said 117 degrees. What happened to the 110 degrees that the wall sign says? I would like to be able to spend ten to fifteen minutes in the steam room, but I can't. This morning I couldn't even get two minutes in. It's too damn hot. I'm looking to work up a decent sweat, not a stroke. I've been going to this CHUZE for seven years, and in that time the steam room has almost never worked properly. About a year ago it seemed like they had fixed it. The steam cycled on every ninety seconds or so. I could actually spend fifteen minutes in it enjoying the moderate heat. And I could actually see the other people in the room; they weren't obscured by dense clouds of steam. It was very enjoyable. But then someone apparently decided to raise the temperature. It's really disgusting. I like CHUZE, but I can't deal with the fact that in seven years they haven't been able to get the steam room right. I will now start looking for a different gym. read more

The staff is always pretty chill, the equipment is pretty good they have a good variety but wow the membership is so predatory. You buy a monthly membership no year long enrollment but still have to a pay an annual fee of 65$ alongside your 22$ membership. If you go to cancel said membership you better do it 10 days before your next payment otherwise you have to pay for another month. Oh and do not let your account be empty come time to pay otherwise they charge you an arm and a leg absolutely no leeway whatsoever. read more

When i joined Chuze 1 1/2 yrs ago it was great . Now water aerobics classes have pool temp at 80 degrees. Not good for arthritis. We were promised 82 which is still below recommendations of 84 at minimum for elderly with health problems.95% of the classes are elderly. I check water temp with pool thermometer, I don,t use pool when below 82 I pay for premium membership. Would gladly pay more for warm w ater read more

Really liked this Gym for the first year I was a member. Over the course of the past year and most recently over the past couple of months maintenance in the wet area has been bad. Due to a disability I can only use the wet area. Hot tub is constantly down. Members who use this area pay more in dues. There is no refund when there is extended downtime of these amenities. Also, for the past couple of weeks the doors to the wet area are propped open so anyone can use this area regardless of what they pay a month. I would be more forgiving but is frustrating fir someone on a fixed income to drive 20 minutes to find these items down. Seems as though with technology today they could send out an email or text letting their members know that non redundant items like pool, steam room or hot tub are down. read more

LOVE the Chuze Gold class at, Winrock location, (Every Tuesday and Thursday at 9:30 AM. They should actually call it the "Fitness 101" class! The instructor/trainer is Madison B. Her knowledge of proper technique in lifting weights and cardio for a multigenerational group of people, is beyond amazing. I was recovering from a neck muscle injury, and this class helped me regain some of the strength I had lost. Madison takes the time to show each person in class if they are having trouble with an exercise using weights. In other words, there is ALOT of encouragement in her class! This gym is the BEST THING that ever happened to me. I became a sugar baby from this gym. I was on the squat rack in those bomb ass leggings ( you know what I'm talking about) when an inappropriately aged hot older gentleman came over and started hitting on me. Now we have a kid together and I travel all over the world not paying a dime. This is the perfect gym to go to if u wanna meet people. Don't go here if u want to ONLY work out. This is a SOCIAL gym. Been consistent here since June 2024. I've tried the other locations and none of them feel the way this one does. If anything, the shower layout lacks compared to the other two, Central's is slightly impressive, and this one can get too full for anyone's liking at common hours. I joined this location as it is close to work and was clean during my trial period. In January I noticed a change in the cleanliness, many of the machines were broken and the water filters on both dispensers were broken. Over the last 7 months it has become uttlerly disgusting. The floors are filthy! They are covered with hair, trash, water, toilet paper and grime. The water filters are STILL not working. Yesterday, I brought my concerns to the manager on duty, Kaila. She AGREED with me that it is disgusting and stated "I know these are just excuses but we are sharing a cleaning crew with the new location." I find that interesting as every time I enter Chuze, there are at least 4 staff members standing up front chatting. I told Kaila that I wanted to cancel my membership. She said that she would be happy to cancel my membership for a $50 FEE?! Not to mention that I would not be reimbursed my sign up fee of $50. Chuze is not providing the service I signed up for yet I'm being held to their contract. This is a terrible business model and disgusting gym. read more

I really like this gym. When a quit a competitor gym they told me Chuze couldn't sustain at the prices they offer. For the first time in 5 months I think I witnessed that today. I know that people have posted pictures of broken equipment with negative reviews, but honestly, that is to be expected with thousands of people cycling in and out daily. Not Good. Joined when it opened and liked a bit at first. Staff seems friendly but useless except for wiping equipment . Patrons do this mostly if staff can keep the tissue dispenser full. The gym is always crowded with people using equipment as a lounge chair to text or tweet from. Price has continued to increase while the equipment is not maintained. Don't waste your money!!! It's mainly for the fact that I pay for access to the aquatic area that others are not allowed to enter unless they have that type of membership. Yet, daily I see people enter the aquatic area only to walk across the opposite end to let their partner in, or their friends in behind them that do not have access to the aquatic area. Not only does it get overcrowded when they enter, they disregard rules and staff are not there to regulate. Then, to top it all off, they enter the steam room with full workout gear and their nasty shoes that they step in God knows what and bring it in there. RULE NUMBER TWO LITERALLY REQUIRES YOU TO WEAR A SWIMSUIT!! If the staff have time to make conversation with each other on a CONSTANT basis (like there are more times I see them having a conversation with each other than them acknowledging customers leaving or entering, including myself), they have time to regulate the rules in an area closed off to most of the gym population. read more

I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 for these reasons: In a facility this big there should be a few water fountains spread around, not three crammed into one space. They should have removable pads for the bars at squat stations. A "promotion" waiving the steep initiation fee doesn't apply to the basic membership, only the more expensive memberships. I switched over to this gym recently (2 months ago). I thought to myself why didn't I come here sooner? I would have given this review 5 stars back then because Staff is friendly the gym is constantly being cleaned. It has a pool, hot tub, sauna, steam room, massage chairs, movie theater, tanning ect. They have a Shake bar & taste great. My only complaints are that many machines have broken hammy on it. Now the main reason why I switched to this gym is not working; the steam room has been broken for a little over two weeks. Last night the pool area was closed due to a chlorine leak. I understand this is for our safety. I'm disappointed that I'm paying a higher price for the MORE membership but getting less. If these things don't get fixed soon I will cancel my membership and go back to my old gym for a way cheaper price as well as a less crowded space at any given time. read more

This place is so disorganized. They only have 2 water fountains and one has been broken for three weeks. How hard is it to fix a water fountain. Plus they do not have a water fountain inside the wet area! Seriously, so I'm going to go sweat In The steam room and sauna and there is no water fountain! Isn't that a health code issue. Also u have to use ur membership bar code to open the door to the wet area. Great so I have to take my phone or keys into the wet area to open the door. This place makes no sense. To use the hydro bed you have to go get a ticket from a machjne by the bed then go back and give it to a worker to get a bed number. This place is a joke. Today there are only 5 out of 8 hydro bed working. The worker told me it is a 3 mins wait. After ten minutes of waiting I asked here am I next? She had no clue. Had to wait again. read more

I enjoy this gym because it gives all the benefits of a full sports club without the outrageous prices. However, it gets WAAAAYYY too crowded at certain hours (yes I know that is a given), but I mean like... dangerously crowded. Just last week I made the mistake of going after work (around 6 ish) and there were so many people there that while I was using the glute kickback machine, someone walked right behind me and I (of course) didn't see them and the machine hit them when I kicked back!! I was horrified!! Luckily, the guy admitted that it was his fault as he was too close to the machine and the range of motion for this particular machine is such that one doesn't see it, but STILL!!! I think the gym should space out the machines a bit more if they are going to have so many people at a time to prevent things like this happening. read more

All 3 locations in Albuquerque are never managed properly, or not by corporate standards. Employees never clean anywhere. Employees are always at the front desk talking. For a company the first thing a customer sees is the entrance; that should be presentable. The Coors and central entrance is always dirty, rugs a mess and never vacuumed, the glass has never been cleaned. It just looks nasty walking in. Bathrooms never have toilet paper. The turf is NEVER vacuumed, when I come in everyday the same nasty stuff is still there. Today the sauna had wipes thrown everywhere and trash under the benches. Where are the employees? Why isnt this place immaculate? This company is such a good idea, why not maintain standards? Very disappointed in the way all locations here are being ran. I have recieved conflicting information regarding minors, amenities & membership charges. My experience (and question) are listed after the following information I found on the CHUZE website and the terms on the contract: Website FAQs- How old do I have to be to work out at CHUZE? To become a member, you must be at least 16 years old. We require that a parent or legal guardian be present during enrollment. If you are between the ages of 13-15, you are more than welcome to workout as the guest of a parent or legal guardian. They must accompany you in the facility at all times. Do you have family memberships? All of our memberships are individual, however anyone ages 13-15 would qualify for a Minor Basic, Premium, or More membership which can be attached to a parent's membership. Our minor memberships do not have an annual fee or enrollment fee or an annual term, just monthly dues. Upon the child reaching 16, they would need to have a regular membership (annual fee applies and annual terms apply depending on which membership they choose). From the contract: The minimum age for membership is 16 years old. Members who are 16 and 17 years old may come in alone as long as parent/guardian has signed all necessary documents; however they will not be permitted use of indoor tanning facilities. Guest privileges vary depending on location, and my guest (if I have a premium or more membership) if ages 13-17, must be accompanied by legal parent or guardian. MY QUESTION: I was told by the winrock location that I could sign a 15 year old up (and pay $39 a month) for a MORE membership, but that they are NOT allowed to use the pool, even with a parent/guardian swimming with them in the pool. When I asked why I would have to pay full price when they were not allowed to use all the amenities, I was told it was state law and that was why I wouldn't be charged the yearly fee. It can't be state law, as I have confirmed with defined fitness & the Paseo CHUZE location that they do not have restrictions on minor access to their pool. I would like definitive clarification on this, as I would like to purchase an adult and a minor membership, and this is my only hold up. The FAQs and contract terms only address any type of limited amenity access for "guests", state that guests 13-17 must be accompanied by the parent at all times, and only state that minors can't use indoor tanning facilities. There is no corporate office, so my concern is that if i have a dispute due to a yearly fee charge on a minor membership, or my minor is not allowed to access amenities that I pay for, I will have to deal directly with the location that is charging me/denying the access to an amenity. To summarize: What minor AND 16+ membership amenity restrictions are there? Is there a corporate contact for potential issues with my home gym? Overall, I think this gym is great and serves an affordable price to those who wish to use its amenities. However, in the plight of COVID-19 this establishment has not taken the precaution of 25% capacity. My background is in public health, therefore this issue is negligent on the owners part. Although machines are separated and sectioned off, I find myself being much too close to people. I've also seen people with shield visors only walking around which is NOT appropriate unless there is a mask as well. Overall, if you are older or at risk of spreading COVID to those who are high risk, avoid this gym at peak hours. Do your part and protect those who cannot themselves. Update: It is the responsibility of the business to enforce mask regulations, not the patrons. My job is to use the establishment under guidelines. As much as each of us should be looking out, we are there to work out. Not become mask enforcers. read more

I'm a new member at ChuzeFitness. So far my experience has been great. I really appreciate the cleanliness of the gym. I just moved to ABQ from Texas and was looking for a gym similar to Lifetime Fitness. Although ChuzeFitness is not a club in the same way, it definitely has all the amenities I was looking for. I haven't tried to the team fitness classes yet but they are next on my list! The dry sauna and steam room are a definite plus for me along with the hot tub. They could work on turning up the heat in the sauna and also making sure both saunas get hot. The times I've gone people are all in one sauna because the other doesn't get as hot. The gym is still pretty packed between the hours of 4-7pm which makes for a not so fun and relaxing workout so I try to go late mornings during the weekdays. It's a new gym. Great equipment. Friendly staff. But maybe all staff needs to get on the same page. Now I am - or was - on a 7 day free trial, I don't expect the moon for free. But if I'm told by two different people I can use the tanning booths with the trial, I expect that to be upheld. If it wasn't generally offered, then don't offer something that isn't covered. Get it? That make sense? Now what bothers me most is spending $6 on some tanning lotion and tanning eye covers. $6 isn't the end of the world, but kind of bugs me that the person who signed me up was telling me yes to every question and I should've been weary. At the same time, he should also not offer what isn't available. And I understand. As a female employee did when I tried to use the tanning booth, and she even said "try the 7 day and then decide if you'll want to". And I'm probably not. But appreciate the new location, and maybe I'll change my mind. But just make sure your employees - especially those starting off newbies - to explain what a trial is, what it covers, rather than just say yes. read more

I do wish the workers would clean instead of hanging out in the front talking to each other. The place needs a good sweeping, mopping, and the bathrooms need a good cleaning. California company starting to scam. I'm on a federal program, that pays ChuzeFitness $30 a month every month and has for the past five years. Yes basic membership is $10, premium is 15, chuze fitness is now only honoring a $30 payment for the basic membership. That's a scam, and I'm sure it's extortion. Now the screwed up part, they took away my access to the pool, in order to get access to the pool I now have to pay $25 a month in addition to the $30 a month I'm already paying, plus a one time processing fee to the credit card they have used for the last five years. I'm sorry this is a huge amount of absolute bullshit. And in talking with federal wellness program members, apparently, this is their standard operating procedure. not sure why my $30 paid to them monthly does not cover simple pool access, why is ChuzeFitness starting to scam over people. read more

This facility has the worst pool water I've ever seen. Since mid April the water has been murky cloudy and full of debris. (Hair globs, particles, lint, boogers, bandaids) Management just keeps making the same lame excuses (we're working on it, we're short staffed, we're waiting for parts). It's nasty...and they can't seem to fix what's wrong. The pool guy they had before never seemed to have a problem. (One person even implied that it was his fault) The water was crystal clear until mid April. Now they can't seem to manage the pool water at all. Visibility in the water with a snorkel mask is about 6 feet max. Gross. read more

The price is very responsible especially for what you receive. The staff is super friendly & helpful. The facilities are clean & the equipment is all new & well maintained. Things I've enjoyed in the last month are the cycling classes, the Cinematic theatre cardio room, hydro massage & the staff. I've been shopping around from gyms lately and if you're like me it's super important that your place of workout is one you feel comfortable with that offers multiple services all for a decent price. I've had gym memberships at private small gyms and the giant gyms like planet and defined. From my first step in Chuze Fitness is was a welcoming environment. The app feature allows you to scan into the facility with your phone. No need for extra key tags or cards. With the full membership you get access to the pool, multiple workout classes and the full gym. While the gym does get packed at times i've never had to truly wait for a treadmill or weight machine. Some other cool features I might add is the movie theatre cardio room, while I like to listen to music it's not a bad place to work on some cardio on a day you forget your headphones. Also if you do have kids they offer child care while you work out, I'd suggest giving them a call for all the different rates and info if you're truly looking to switch. read more
