A quantum leap of progress coincided with Dr Doug's arrival @ Landscape Solutions years ago, & heir-apparent Jeremiah, as well as Kristin & Rick, are well-positioned to assume his mantle during his brief absences. Preface: I have been a long-time customer for almost 2 years for lawn care. He would suggest…read moreadditional jobs like trimming the mesquite trees in our front yard, which I agreed to. While he and his wife were tieing down the branches they had cut, I came outside to ask him something, but he didn't realize I was there. I heard him scolding his wife and speaking to her in an angry and disrespectful manner. I don't remember what he was saying specifically now, but I remember the situation. I mention it now because I should have seen the red flag, if he treats his wife that way, he wouldn't treat customers any better. Currently: He had suggested another job for himself, offering to give me a quote to get rid of the old mulch in my flowerbeds and around my trees and large shrubs, clear out any weeds, put down weed paper and new mulch. He mentioned bags of mulch were currently on sell and they had colors to match what I already had. I have 10 bags of mulch in my garage that I haven't used yet. He gave me the quote 2 days later and I immediately agreed and sent him full payment. He started the job a week and a half later. The first day, he and his wife started clearing out mulch and weeds in a flowerbed in the center of my backyard and also around the trees and shrubs in the backyard. When I got home from work they were gone, and the flowerbed and trees had weed paper around them weighted down with rocks. My wife mentioned to me that one of her larger plants that was in the center flowerbed was no longer there, she was disappointed and wondered why no one asked her before removing it. There is another flowerbed going the length of the back of our house that was supposed to be done with this work, and my wife told me that she would rather do that one herself now. My wife also isn't a fan of weedpaper and told me she would rather not use it around the trees, but use it, just in the flowerbeds. So I mentioned these three changes to James in a text message later that evening. I said my wife wasn't happy that her plant was removed. I said know he was supposed to remove the weeds and old mulch, but please check with my wife before removing anything else. I also said we don't want to use the weed paper around trees, and he didn't have to do the other backyard flowerbed. He responded that night saying we can discuss it further in person in the morning. I replied back to him that I was just sending the message in case I didn't see him before I went to work. He mentioned again that we can discuss it further in more detail in the morning. To which, I relied, There is nothing really to discuss. I just wanted to give him those changes and it wasn't really a big deal. The next day he is trying to reach me because he is picking up mulch in bulk and gave me two options (composted mulch or double ground cedar). I went with the cedar on his recommendation. Then after I left for work is asks me by text is anyone is home to give him the 10 bags of mulch that I have in my garage. I called him to speak to him because the bulk cedar mulch was not going to match the bagged (dark brown) mulch I had in the garage. I did not want to use different colors of mulch. He started to argue that he was going to need more money to cover additional mulch then. I told him, that with the flowerbed along the back of the house that was no longer being done, between the mulch no longer needed there and his time/labor of clearing out old mulch and weeds no longer needed. It would more than cover 10 bags worth of bagged mulch in bulk. He started complaining about his own quote. Complaining that the job should have costed more than double what he quoted me, that I was getting a huge deal. I had to chuckle at that and pointed out that he is complaining about his own quote that he came up with. I told him if that quote would have been more than double in price, I would have simply passed on his offer. Then the issue about my wife's missing plant came up. He was ALL excuses. The plant was being strangled, it might have looked fine, but it wasn't, the flowerbed wasn't maintained well, he didn't realize my wife was home to talk to, and he was waiting to talk to me about it in person the next day. To me this issue is absolutely black and white, his job was to remove weeds and old mulch, no matter what condition a plant was in (and it did look fine btw), he had absolutely NO right to take it upon himself to remove it. If he thought no one was home, then he should have left it and started on another flowerbed and discussed it later. I came back to talk to him face to face and give him a chance to salvage our business relationship. Still no apology, just excuses and defensive. I told him after this job we would not use his services anymore. He quit after I went back to work and is no longer responding. Leaving the work 90% undone. No response and no refund. I would not recommend to anyone.

You can tell these guys were Family owned and operated by the amazing quality of their work. According to one of their guys who worked on my yard, they have almost 20 guys and a handful of trucks in total and spread out their coverage across the greater San Antonio area. They break the city up into Zones and cover different zones on different days of the week. These guys were phenomenal from the start. I used Yelp's request quote function on US Lawns Yelp page. One of the coordinators/managers (Tim) responded within an hour enquiring to a time he could come out and walk the yard to give me an accurate quote. Tim was extremely professional, friendly, and knowledgeable. Tim squeezed me into their schedule to ensure he could assist me as fast as possible. As we walked the yard he explained to me the important tidbits about different types of grass, weed treatments and things I needed to do with my large trees. HERE's A HUMOR BREAK... Tim also explained to me what plants in my garden were "Opportunity Trees." I thought they were tree trees... And by what Tim was saying, I thought maybe they were good luck trees that were going to bring me money and good fortune...Nope... They were weeds that I let go so long... they became trees... ... .... .....done laughing at me yet? BACK TO THE REVIEW... Initially, I was told it may take a week for his guys to be able to come out. Keep in mind, their schedule is driven not only by demand but the weather. Rain will put a damper on lawn maintenance. On that note, rather than having to wait a week, they came out the next morning! Awesome!! There were 3 guys initially and then 2 after lunch. I don't know how they do it in that heat. The team that was sent out were experts in their craft, extremely meticulous, and very friendly. They answered all of my random questions about yard maintaining with a smile. At one point they were on their hands and knees picking weeds out of the cracks in my driveway! While we did not use the service, US Lawns also provides landscaping and can install irrigation systems. If their quality of work is anything like they did for me today; it will be superb. PRICE! COST! VALUE!: I am guessing experiences will vary and I do not want to get into exact numbers because I have no idea what they would charge in different situations. But for what I received and the amount of work these guys did, the price was EXTREMELY reasonable, if not a steal. My end result: (See pictures) a clean, crisp yard that looks like someone actually loves it. If you are in the need of lawn maintenance and are not sure who to hit up, I would give US Lawns a try. I will for sure be using their services again in the future.
