I had 3 quotes come in for my roof, and JB West was the most affordable, as well as could accommodate the additional work I needed that was a bit out of the norm. An 8-man crew worked almost 12 hours to finish my job. There were on-the-fly surprises they were able to accommodate, including some large supply runs. Matt was the forman and was friendly, calm, and explained everything in detail. I thought the yard was a goner after all this but I was shocked to discover in the morning light no tacks, garbage, nails or trace of their work. Totally impressed with the workmanship as well as the cleanup. I recommend this company for your roofing needs throughout northwest Indiana. If you would have asked me 4 yrs ago I would have given them 5 stars. I had amazing service with them when they did my roof. I had some storm damage 3 months ago (July 2024) to my roof, gutters, siding and railing. I immediately called them because of how pleased I was with their work. Well this time around I feel as though I have gotten the run around. I understand insurance work is different and takes time but 3 months is pushing it. I have had very poor communication from almost the beginning. I even switched reps hoping that would help. It started to, but once again communication was horrible. I paid half of the balance a week ago and requested information about the insurance notification and establishing a start date, especially since the weather has become cooler. I have sent multiple emails and have not heard back since I made a payment. Not to mention I had to threaten to take my business elsewhere to get response to set up for a payment. Now that they have half the payment once again I have had not heard from them about a start date. Update: It took from mid July to late December to get my work done. The roofers and the guy that did my railings were amazing. They got the work done and were very professional and did great work. Also, the lady that handled the scheduling was very polite and professional. However, the siding crew left nails on the driveway. They place items on top of my Christmas inflatables and broke at least one of the ground stakes for them. They moved items and did not put them back. The gutter people had to come out to do the second half of the job. They too moved items and did not put items back in their place. When they came out the second time they were supposed to clean the glue off of my house that they left the first time. Needles to say it is still there. Then the topping to this whole mess, is their lack of communication not only with me but my insurance company. Now, the claim has been closed and I owe thousands of dollars to this company. I wish I could say better things about this company, as they were amazing in 2021. I often do not expect compensation for things errors, but this has been completely unacceptable. After I made the fist half of this post I was immediately contacted by a manager that promised some compensation that I have not received. Now that the insurance company closed the claim, I am upset enough to drop the company from a 3 star to a 2 star. If this was my first experience with them I would give them 1. Beatutiful roof but what happened during the installation is unfathomable. Chimeny stack came down and sheared off a filter to my tankless water heater. Oh my! Was greeted with AGUA! AGUA! Yes, my house was flooded and my remodel of 6 years was ruined! ServPro was called in and so many things were ruined - floor boards ripped up, my LVF ripped up, holes in the wall. My electric bill went up, I couldn't live in my home for 2 months, without compensation. After, a subcontractor came in, tore up my flooring and replaced it with one that I chose and hate (only was given 6 choices and this was the lesser of evils) No membrane installed under the flooring like before, painting had to be done, my grandson could have done better - at one point my hallway was 2 diferent colors! This started on November 11, 2024 I am done with it! My roof looks fine, but I have no warranty. Hope your experience is better than mine. I have been block for emails to them so I will pay the price. Incidently, I hope that you can communicate with one person, I had many, but rarely the same. He and his wife Katie are planning on building a house around Walkerton I believe, I hope he wants to hire the inept people who "made my home back to where it was"! I contracted J&B West to re-roof my house after the May 7, 2024 hail storm. Initially all went well: the crew arrived on schedule and the work was completed. The site cleanup was good, the supervisor was conscientious and we did a final walk through. The issue is the administrative side of the transaction. When I dropped off the final payment @JBW I told them I would like a final copy of the work completed and the specific materials used. Part of my reason was to have a complete documentation package for the subsequent owner when I sell. I was assured those would be sent electronically as well as mailed paper copies. There were multiple communications between myself and various JBW personnel. The requested documents were never provided. In short, my complaints are ... Requested documents not provided despite repeated reassurances that they would be provided (additionally making registration for shingle manufacturer warranty more difficult), conflicting statements on length of workmanship warranty and no detail on my (and neighbors) eligibility for the "$150 referral bonus". Perhaps there is some issue between JBW, their subcontractors, and the 3rd party estimator. Bottom line ... I hope the quality of the work was adequate to insure there are no workmanship warranty issues. Will I ever again use J & B West Roofing and Construction? No. Will I recommend them to anyone? our roof is 5 years old and we did have a leak right after they installed and JBWest sent a guy out to fix which we thought he did unbeknown to us it has had a small leak for 5 years finally our back finished porch roof had a small cave in. so I read my contract with JBWest and it said they have a warranty on their work so I called them. First person I talked to was Caprice who was great worked with me and sent a great guy named John to fixed leak on outside of house ,he did an excellent job working hard to make sure it was fixed and fixed right thank you John. Then Caprice called to make sure everything was good to go and called a couple of times to make sure no more leaks so they could fix the drywall and paint the inside.so then Brandy called to set a date to do the work and sent Marvin who was wonderful as well as the others he did and excellent job on dry walling the spot,sanding and painting finished in two days and I truely want to thank all that were involved in helping me get this resolved read more

I would not recommend J &B. It took 10 weeks from date we signed contract to finish (1day'). We have had 2 leaks now (5 months after installation). This last major leak damaged furniture and rug as we were gone for a few hours and unable to place buckets. The crew comes early and seemed to do a very rushed job. Finished in 1 day. This is my go to company for all my work. They did my roofing, just last Friday, did a excellent job, couldn't have had a better group of workers. Then the day b4, I had gutters and downspouts done, again excellent work, above and beyond what was expected. 3 weeks b4 that I had my siding done. These were the best workers, I've ever seen . They all worked so well together, fast , but very good . Again stayed til the job was done. Even the appraisal person llogan was very helpful, polite, knowledgeable of what hewas doing. My roofing job was estimated at $19,350 by Howard Fagre. I paid in full, and the job was scheduled. Immediately upon starting, work had to be paused for incoming rain and the guys covered my roof and the intake for my furnace with tarps, shutting off the heat for my tenants. I had to call Maglish and Chris suggested I pay for that service call, even though it was J&B West's fault. Second, one of the workers fell through my ceiling into the living room. Third, workers left materials unsecured in the yard and a wind storm blew pieces of their materials all through the neighbor's yards. Last, my job was grossly underestimated, as once they began work, Chris contacted me and told me they would need an additional $4,720 to complete my job. Since when is it good business to raise a price by nearly 25% AFTER a job is started? I feel it was either a grossly poor estimate by Howard, or a purposeful raise in price since I foolishly paid the job in full at the start. Either way, I had to pay. My roofing/gutters project has been a mess from the beginning. The quote was incorrect; read carefully before you sign. They tell you one thing is included but don't specify and then charge you. The project was begun in October/November for roof and gutters. The gutters were incorrect and needed to come back several times to fix correctly. The roof had bad flashing around a vent pipe; fixed incorrectly once and now waiting for another person to come fix and it is July. Constantly delayed and very frustrating, would not recommend to anyone. Very disappointed. read more

We had our roof done in April and initially we thought they did a decent job until we discovered the scratches on our stepping stones from them dragging their ladder and the leak in the garage. We tried to contact them several times without response and they're great at giving you the run around. The leak in the garage is awful due to their shoddy work. Wish I could post a picture here. On March 6th 2018 the employees of J&B West Roofing walked for over 5 miles in a light rain and snow picking up trash along both sides of the county road that their business is located on. If at all possible, do not use this company. If i could give less than one star I would. reroofed my house in February. It was done incorrectly. So, i called they in March, April,May, June, July, August, September and they finally came out in October to reroof, down to the boards. They used a new crew and no one spoke english. When they did the tearoff, they used pitch forks and dug holes into the roofing boards. They did my roof in 4 hours and did not nail down the 27 new (particle wood) boards to my rafters. I immediately called the supervisor to have him walk the perimeter with him. He said he would call me that night. NO call(btw, he was 18 and never roofed before 3 months ago, and is not a supervisor) Another Supervisor came out on that thursday. He said he would handle my problem, and he would have a solution the next day. His name was E---, I called him twice a day for a week, i called another "supervisor" I called the office. They now tell me it is a scheduling problem. But if boards do not butt up tightly against the lining boards of the next length you will have leakage in the winter and rainy months. I could see skylight between boards before the plastic sheeting was put down. ( no tar paper was used) read more

I cannot say enough good things about J&B - max star review, for sure! I called them to come out and give me a quote on repairing my porch. I had noticed a week or so before that the roof of my porch was leaning rather precariously and I was not sure why, so I called them to assess it and quote me on either a full repair or just getting it back together. They came out within a few days of my calling with two guys, one (Terry) who is a brilliant organizer and knows everything about anything and another (Hollis) who was amazingly knowledgeable about the roof and gutters and overall structural repair needs. They assessed the porch, realized that what was happening was that the last time the porch had been redone (at least 10 years prior) that whomever had done it (not them!) had decided to put the posts of the porch leaning right on the thin fascia with no joints supporting it. It was basically a miracle that it had held together as long as it had! Now, keep in mind, this was just an assessment and quote - I hadn't hired them yet or talked price. They refused to leave the porch as is, and immediately went to Home Depot to buy some wood for proper support so that the porch didn't fall down around me while I waited on quotes. They never charged me for this - they insisted that it was for safety and they couldn't let something like this go. I was so impressed at their professionalism. Now, I did get other quotes, despite this - but J&B came in with their quote as very close to the lowest and were willing to negotiate and make timelines work. I chose them for the repair, and I have no regrets about this. My porch looks absolutely stellar, and it was done on time and on budget - such a rare thing to be able to say about contractors!! They are also very, very communicative. Any questions I had I could email or call Terry and he would get back to me within an hour (max 24 hours). It was amazing. I have another repair to the house coming up and I wouldn't call anyone else - these guys are the best, and I recommend them to everyone I meet! read more
