Despite our having a little house, NOVA treated our needs just as professionally and courteously as a multi-million dollar client. We were given a time for a survey/estimate, which they kept on the dot. The survey/estimate was for a worst-case situation, which assured us they weren't out to gouge us. We found their price reasonable. An appointment was set, and they kept that to the dot! They called about a half hour before showing up. Employees were well prepared, got right to business, and completed the project in the estimated time. At all times the workers were totally professional! They set times to return to check on the work. Again, on time. Again, completely assured and professional. There were no hidden fees or any unbusinesslike practices. This is an utterly trustworthy, bonded business that puts the priority on their customers. They didn't leave us hanging or put us off for more lucrative clients. Choose a professional establishment. Day 1: They broke a water line and left it spraying all over the joists and dripping from them. Crew left didn't say a word had no idea there was a problem until I turned on the kitchen sink. I had to go purchase the cap and cut the line to fix. Day 3: They broke the Refrigerators water line and it leaked out onto the floor or I would of never known. Then, I had to buy a new waterline for my fridge and replace it and of course the new line was larger. Day 5 and beyond: They came to fix stuff but never finished the job. I finished the work they left undone including buying elbows, piping and other parts and pieces. They never paid me for my labor or a single part or piece I had to purchase to fix their mistakes. The best thing was Easter when the sun came out and my family went outside and found all the cigarette butts in the grass and the mulch. We needed a previously repaired cracked, by another company, redone as it was starting to leak. We called a couple places but decided to go with Nova. They came in explained why it was leaking and what needed to be done to get it fixed properly They came in and did the repair and came back a week later after the repair had time to cure and did a final layer of protection and clean up. We are working to sell our house and there was a potential issue in our crawl space. The inspector wanted a second opinion, so Nova was called. The person who came out was a sales person and tried to sell the buyers on other services that were not necessary to fix the issue that the inspector found. Long story short, Nova scared our buyers into thinking this issue was much larger than it actually is. Nova scared away the buyers exaggerating what needed to be fixed and the deal fell through. We planned to fix the issue that was brought up, but Nova was out to make money on this deal trying to upsell services we did not ask for, rather than just fix the problem at hand. Our home -built in 1967- with a cellar directly under the front steps has water seepage issues - resulting in flooding into the basement. The Nova Basement Systems agent came to our home for an evaluation; inspected the area completely; listened to our concerns & discussed the issue fully. He suggested - as a starting point- to move the downspout near the front steps to divert rainwater away from the home's foundation. The Nova Basement Systems tech installed an Underground Downspout System. He hand-dug the trench; carefully removed the sod, then reinstalled it to fit perfectly. He also injected a Urethane Sealer in the concrete expansion joints of the front landing to prevent water drainage. At no time did Nova exert pressure on us to schedule the project. Today is Sunday, May 9th, Mothers Day 2021. And it REALLY raining! But NOT in my basement, anymore! Nova sent out a couple of people to review our needs. We never had deep water in our basement, but we had several areas where water would seep in even on days when it was drizzling. It was smelly, moldy and damp down there. Because they made several recommendations we discussed how to proceed. After the process started we found that we had a couple of areas that surprised us in spring. Nova came out and took care of them all in a timely manner. They ALWAYS showed up on time, communicated very well and checked with us to ensure that we were satisfied. Very seldom today do you find companies that can "bring it" every time, but these folks do! NOW, our basement is clean dry and hospitable. Pass on the rest and hire the best. NOVA! I was honestly blown away by the interaction and while our issue is not within their scope of work, we will definitely be keeping Nova Basement in mind for any future work. After having been told by another company, that there were no problems in our basement when evidence clearly indicates otherwise, Nova Basement Systems came out and did a more thorough inspection. They correctly identified the problem when the previous company had failed to do so and even found additional areas where there were potential issues. Although there was a brief miscommunication about what they were coming to do, the matter was cleared up and one of the representatives actually offered to come out to the house on his own time to make the situation right himself. We were satisfied with the end result and the price was reasonable. We feel much better about our foundation and would definitely use them again. read more

Sales person was considerate and listened to my concerns. I did not have to have a second person here to get a quote. They were honest about what needed to be done and what was not necessary. They quickly responded to any subsequent issues. We have kept up with yearly maintenance checks. They have always been helpful and knowledgeable. My only advice would be to get the battery backup on your sump pump if it's something you're having done. We did not and paid the price!! read more

I'm submitting this on behalf of my parents. My mom had a Nova consultant come out to their house for an estimate on their basement. Chris showed up and estimated the job to cost $8700, which would only cover the inside of the house. He required 20% down. My mom gave him a credit card, paying the $1600. Within a week, my mom decided to go with a different company. She contacted Nova and canceled the job with their office. The employee couldn't find the file and said she would contact Chris. Within a few weeks, Chris contacted my mom and played a game, acting like he hadn't heard about the canceled job. Chris and Nova are now denying any kind of refund. I would not recommend this business that practices unethically. read more

Nova installed and has serviced our sump pump system for many years. The service we received today was the best ever! Our service tech, Josh, was polite, efficient, and left everything perfectly clean and back together. I was most impressed by photos he took on his phone showing the work as it was performed. Another company has unfairly treated my good friends, an elderly 85+ years-old couple Parts of South Bend, Indiana, received historic amounts of rain with flooding in August, 2016 --- as did many parts of the country. My friends home suffered damage to their basement, especially the west and south-side walls which were soaked and buckling. The homeowner wife contacted a company specializing in water damage to get someone to provide restoration services. This company, Nova Basement Systems of La Porte, Indiana, sent a representative who evaluated the damage and quoted a bid of $2,900.00 with 10% down. My 85-year-old friend accepted his alleged expert opinion, agreed to the price, and paid $290.00 on August 8. Almost a month later the company sent workmen to start the restoration which they said would be completed by the following day. After they claimed to have finished, my friend called me and expressed her dismay with the amount and quality of the work done. I went to her home on September 10 and brought another friend who had been in the construction-electrical field. If it was a disaster before, now the supposed upgraded area was anything but restored. I took photos of a gap open to the outside air in the west wall and noted unfilled chinks in the southward brick wall. My younger friend feared danger to the older couple from wires left dangling, only 2 of which had electrical tape sloppily wrapped around them. My friend tested the circuitry and found live wires [I took more photos]. With the circuits off, plastic wire nipple connectors were tightened onto the wires, high quality electrical tape wrappings were applied as needed, and each area was marked with the circuit number that powered it. Nova workmen also told this couple that soil that had been dug up on the exterior of their home would have to be filled back in by someone else even though the contract clearly states "please fill dirt back in along house when finished." The next week an insurance adjuster came to see the repairs and was also aghast at the incompetent repair work and the price that the couple had been charged. The adjuster also took photos --- and she noted that all of the electrical hazards had been safely secured by someone other than Nova Basement Systems. She said that the insurance company would be investigating the situation further. Note: My elderly friend admits that when she tried to discuss the problems with the company, she was told repeatedly that she was being uncooperative and just trying to cause trouble. Then my friend admitted to me that she finally became angry and told the company person that they could take the money and stick it! Not typical language that I've ever heard from her, but I had to laugh at her bravado in the face of intimidation. SUMMARY: This company left an elderly couple with supposed water damage restoration in their basement that was poorly crafted, incomplete, and dangerous to elderly home owners. Also, customer service from company's management was condescending and accusatory. P.S. If I have been mistaken or misrepresented any facts stated above, I am willing to revise. I will be working with the couple to file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. Financial abuse of the elderly is unjustifiable. read more

We have a full basement that had 1 sump pump in it to alleviate water coming in when we bought the house in 1985. Since then, we have had various times that the basement would still get water. In 2008, our area had some flooding and our basement ended up with water. We called Nova and they installed an indoor tracking system, 2 outdoor areas for the water to drain into from the basement and added 2 more sump pumps. We were able to finish our basement for living space and have not had any more water problems. We are extremely satisfied! read more

I recently purchased a home that has a NOVA Basement System in it. After the recent rain, water came into the basement. I contacted the company and got a call from Jenn. One of the first things she said, "There will be a $75.00 service fee if our system didn't fail." Considering the water came through from the walls and the anchors they installed, it is pretty obvious their system failed. I read through their warranty paper work and everything was in order, the gutters are clean, the downspouts extend 10 feet away, the sump pumps work, etc. NOVA even had a workman out in June that said everything was in order. I wrote them an email that this was quite concerning as it seems they are assuming there is no way their system can fail. Their warranty states that "no water shall pass from any wall where the system is installed ... and collect on the floor." This is exactly what happened. When I sent them an email, Jenn called me back and left a message, I returned her call and we proceeded to have a conversation about the care of the system and the water that came in. She said, "Many times they get calls their system failed and it is actually a plumbing problem. You can't always trust what people say." When I asked what other maintenance the previous owner could have done other than what is stated in the warranty, she said to look in the owner's manual. I told her there was none. She said they always give them out. I asked if she worked there when this system was installed, she said no. I asked how does she know then that owner's manuals were given out, her response was she was told they were. I pointed out that she had already stated you can't always trust what people say. She got angry at this. When I would ask direct questions about why things were or weren't done or recommended, she would skirt around the issue. Rather than listen to concerns and hear what the customer had to say, she was more interested in making excuses. This is not good customer service. For Jenn, it does not appear that the customer's needs and concerns come before her always wanting to be right. The lady whom I bought the home from was elderly and said she did everything they said, based on her meticulous record keeping and saving important paperwork, there is no reason to doubt this. It seems Jenn's job is to make sure NOVA only goes to jobs where they are guaranteed to make a profit. If I had known this, rain or not, I would not have purchased this home. It is also interesting to see that most reviews are only on NOVA's website where they can ensure good reviews are viewable. read more
