Food Truck

I decided to take a quick walk over to Eager Park for lunch with a hankering for some Jamaican food the last few days and ran into JBees! The owner was assisting customers placing orders, he was very helpful and offered to let me sample their Jerk Fries! I ultimately decided on the J'Bees Jerk Kingston Fish and Shrimp sandwich on Coco bread. DELICIOUS! The seasoning, flavor, and preparation of this was great! While waiting the owner also mentioned he will have a stall in the NEW Lexington Market that is expected to open Fall 2022. Check them out on IG @jbees_jamaican_me_crazy and visit them you wont be disappointed!

Got two chicken and two beef patties to taste test. Each pattie was good sized. The casting was nicely baked and the fillings were savory with nice curry flavor. Little bit expensive at about $4.00 each. I like to try other items when we return to Lexington Maeket.

The owner is exceptionally bold in his assertion that he has the"best fish sandwich, that will change your life"... Being from NY, I was not impressed with his claims. Always down for a challenge however, I ordered one. The photos do this sandwich NO Justice. Perfectly seasoned, crispy batter, fish sandwich fried with the most amazing melt in your mouth juicy impeccably cooked center. This sandwich is a game changer. It reminds you of a po'boy in Jamaica. Island flavor mixed with the right amount of spice... They complement each other, not compete. I felt like I was on the beach, sand between my toes, the sun kissing my skin, biting into one of the most delicious fish sandwiches I've ever had. Will it change your life? It will surely have me searching for this food truck whenever I'm back in Maryland. I now want, no NEED to try everything on the menu. Just eat here...I promise, you won't be disappointed

This food truck!!! Talk about slap ya momma good! Omg it was absolutely delicious! I had a fish and shrimp poboy and it was absolutely the best poboy I've ever had! I also tried their jerk fries and it was so good! It was a potato cut into wedges with his famous jerk sauce and 20 different Jamaican herbs. The perfect amount of seasoning and spice, so filling, and absolutely worth it. I had half of the sandwich and was stuffed but had to take another bite of the other side. I can't wait to have it again!

Jerk Chicken bowl

One star! Service is horrible! Takes forever for food that's ALREADY cooked. Stood in line 10 minutes, waited 20, and still didn't give me everything I ordered. I asked for a beef pattie with my order. He was so overwhelmed I guess he didn't hear me. A lot of us are on lunch break, we don't want to spend half of it waiting on our food. Everyone in line was saying, this food BETTER be good for as long as we waited. Got the food and it was NOT good. Then I found a hair. I was so put off, didn't even go back to complain. I just won't spend any more of my time or money here!

Burnt oxtail!!! Not cool!

We had this food truck out this week at apartments I live in. I ordered oxtails and was told it would take 20 minutes. More than 45 minutes later I got three tails which were huge, taste was okay but the worse part is when I turned one of them over I got a burnt tail! I try to support and willing to pay but when you provide food like this you have lost me for life!!' Foodie beware!

She responded to my questions quickly and was always willing to adjust our invoices or provide recommendations. They are also the most affordable company I've found in the DC area. On site, the catering team went above and beyond to ensure our events went seamlessly. I have never had guests compliment the staff and the menu as much as they did with St. Germain! As the event coordinator, I appreciated that Ceecho, Donal, and Johnny checked in with me throughout the event, quickly adjusted to the schedule changes, and were efficient and helpful throughout the set up and tear down process. I highly recommend Saint Germain for our next catered function in DC! We will be a repeat customer for sure!

Their menu is expansive and can accommodate all types of dietary restrictions--we had dairy free, vegan, pollotarian, and gluten free folks, and they all enjoyed the food. Set up and tear down were efficient, and the staff was so friendly, polite, and professional! And the food! I over ordered, so the whole library staff got to eat, too. Everyone raved about the buffets (we did a "cookout" style, a "fajita bar" style, and we had breakfast for three days). Everything was cooked well and seasoned well! The fresh fruit was delicious! Can I recommend them any more than I have? If I'm ever in the DC/DMV area again for an event, I will definitely give them a call.

A Family Affair Catering provided exceptional service for my friend's 75th birthday celebration,…read morewhich I hosted for 105 guests. The food was absolutely delicious, with a wide variety of flavorful options that truly pleased the crowd. The presentation and overall setup were beautiful and added an elegant touch to the event. Chef Darryl was professional, organized, and a pleasure to work with throughout the entire process. The pricing was very reasonable, and he even offered a wonderful tasting prior to signing the contract, which gave us great confidence in our decision. I highly recommend A Family Affair Catering for any special occasion.

To consider this a legitimate "business" is laughable, just like their food. Arrived over an hour…read morelate to an event and instead of being apologetic, had an attitude. Dinner was for 25 + people and there was barely enough food for 12. Not that this mattered, as EVERYTHING was inedible and there were no plates, cutlery or napkins provided. I take that back, the store brought $2.00 (price still on) cornbread and $16.00 cake were the ONLY items edible. The Mac and Cheese was dry and bland. I will give them credit for it being both overcooked and undercooked all in the same batch. I'm still trying to make sense of that! The only adjective that even remotely describes this Mac and Cheese is "disrespectful". Like, seriously, the disrespect was 10/10. The chicken was undercooked and bland. How do you make jerk chicken bland and soggy? I'm actually curious. The "blackened" salmon was overcooked yet not blackened, creating another "make it make sense" moment. I immediately spat out the greens. They were undercooked, not under-seasoned but literally "not seasoned". Wait, I take that back too, if you count the dirt and grit as seasoning. They should be ashamed of themselves for ripping people off. Pictures don't lie. The fact that they were sent pictures and still stood behind their product tells you all you need to know. Please, please, PLEASE do not let these people ruin your event and more importantly your special moments and memories. There are so many other respectable and legitimate Black-owned catering companies i.e. Ohhs and Ahhs, Henry's, Hitching Post.

The Classic Catering People - Treats!

We used Classic to cater our wedding. To be honest, we feel a bit mixed about the experience. TLDR:…read morewe wound up giving four stars because although our bar situation was a disaster, food is more important and the food was better than most other wedding food. The food - as foodies, we felt like Classic gave us very good wedding food (but it fell short of very good restaurant food). During our tasting, we were pretty blown away by the food -- all the flavors were excellent and all the food was perfectly cooked. Day of, a lot of the food was overcooked, and things were under sauced, so we missed a lot of the flavors from our tasting. The food was certainly better than most other weddings I've been to, but if I would have gotten the food at a restaurant I would have been disappointed. I know it's really difficult to cook in bulk. (FWIW though, people really loved the mashed potatoes -- and were still talking about them a week later.) We were also extremely pleased with how Classic handled dietary restrictions. We had a number of people with restrictions, and everyone was able to eat, and no one got sick. They even worked with us to make our whole menu gluten free so that all of our (many) celiac guests could partake. The drinks - our drinks were a disaster. And I think part of this is because our catering manager switched just a few months before the wedding. Our original catering manager had allowed us to create our own cocktail recipes. We love mixology so it felt very fitting for our wedding. We wanted our wedding to feel like a cocktail bar and not just have the standard wedding cocktail. However, our new catering manager pretty much lost her mind when she heard this, saying it's never done. Our conversations were weird, and we never figured out what the issues were so we assumed it was reluctance to do something different and thought they'd figure it out. However, it seems the issues were the bartenders can barely make a drink. Although we sent VERY specific recipes, i think only one of the bartenders followed them. The first drink I was given when I came down to my cocktail hour was supposed to be a lavender chamomile play on a French 75. But what I was actually given was lemon juice, soda, and gin. I literally spit it out, and had a mild panic attack that my guests were being served undrinkable drinks for our whole cocktail hour. It turns out, that only one bartender was making undrinkable drinks (and they continued to for most of the evening). Another one was making ok drinks, and one was making drinks correctly. No one could remember which bartender was making which drinks, so everyone remarked how inconsistent our drinks were. A number of times people had to toss drinks because they picked the wrong bartender. I was also pretty pissed that although we had confirmed with our planner and classic a half a dozen times that they would pass drinks during cocktail hour, they never did. Afterwards my planner said it was because the drinks were too complicated. But they could have passed wine, or beer, or prebatched drinks (which we thought they were doing). We really didn't want a line at the bar, and there was one, so a month later, I'm still fuming about the disaster that was the bar. I think had we had more time, or better communication from the new catering manager, we could have worked something out that would have worked for us and them. But, instead, trying not to piss us off, I think she gave in knowing they couldn't hold up their end of the bargain. The service - the service (aside from the bar and our catering manager) was good. All the catering staff were very kind, and rushed like crazy to finish our room flip. We appreciated that they designate one server just for the bride and groom! The process - Our process was a bit of a mess because of the catering manager flip. But, were it not for that, I think it would have gone pretty smoothly. Classic are def pros at putting on events. We were happy with the process before the switch. Afterwards, we didn't really jive with the new catering manager, who was much more rigid than the original one. We might have been less off put by this, but, she also wasn't great at communicating the reasons behind her "nos" or "yes, with reservations". Our planner had told us that your classic experience very much depends on your catering manager, and based on our experience with two of them, that seems accurate.
