We then got proposals from two other local companies. Though Value Dry was not the lowest quote, we felt by far the most comfortable using them. And we are very glad we did. Our entire basement, which is entirely below grade, has (had!) water seepage due to hydrostatic pressure (water is forced into the house from underground), especially this last year with all of the rain we've had. And we have a huge basement. Markus proposed a new french drain around the entire interior perimeter of our basement, all of the exterior walls: 210 linear feet in total (we have a big basement). He explained in-depth what they proposed to do and why and how. They also added a second sump pump for us. And a battery back-up pump. They sent a crew of just three guys. Roger was the foreman, and you just have to love that guy. Great personality and he calmly and politely answered every question I had (I'm a detail freak). They were fantastic. They kept everything as clean as possible (not completely, but you can only do so much for concrete dust from jackhammers). Their work was very detail-oriented. It was cool seeing the destruction followed by the construction, laying down the new PVC underground drainage pipes, the new concrete on top of it, etc. Roger and I had discussions throughout the week about how best to do several things, like where and how to place the clean-outs (we have two) for the pipes. Bottom line: Look no further. They are honest. Not too expensive. And they deliver exactly what they say they will. Also, just a few weeks after completing our basement they did a smaller job for my in-laws, also local. They were just as happy with their work and with both Markus and Roger and his crew as we were. When I later asked to adjust the scope, the salesperson resisted for nearly ten minutes before agreeing to send a revised contract. The first crew delivered solid work on the drain line and concrete, but the vapor barrier installation was sloppy--uneven trimming, gaps, and inconsistent application. They also removed a board supporting the incoming water line without explanation, leaving it hanging from a wire and damaging the clamp. Their initial attempt to "fix" it involved taping the board to a pipe, which was not a proper or safe solution. The sump pump outlet was also installed in a way that caused the discharge pipe to partially block it, putting pressure on the plug. Communication was another major issue. I was never given a dedicated point of contact. I had to reach out to the salesperson again just to report problems. He forwarded my concerns to the office, and I was eventually contacted by Christal. She was professional and genuinely helpful, but her phone number repeatedly showed as disconnected, and only some text messages went through. I had to call the main line each time and ask to be routed to her. A week later, two crews returned and corrected the vapor barrier, repaired the board, and moved the outlet so it was no longer obstructed. The final work met expectations, but the overall experience involved unnecessary sales pressure, communication challenges, and multiple days off work for corrections and inspections.

Unfortunately, this has proven to be a significant mistake, and I am left extremely disappointed with both the quality of work and the overall experience. Here are the main issues I encountered: 1. Unprofessional Behavior: The crew exhibited unacceptable behavior while working on my property. Not only did I witness them disposing of bodily fluids on-site, but they were also disrespectful and dismissive. when I raised concerns no response was received. I now smell urine when entering and exiting my garage. 2. Unresponsive Ownership: I have attempted to reach out to the owner multiple times to address these concerns and resolve the issues, but my messages have been met with silence. This lack of communication is incredibly frustrating and has only added to my disappointment. The owner refused to speak on the phone since the owner was made aware of the call being recorded. 3. Property Damage: During the construction process, my property was left damaged in multiple areas. This included e.g., landscaping destruction, equipment damage. Personal crew members vehicles being driven through my yard leaving deep tire marks damage. 4. Subpar Quality of Work: Despite the high cost of the project, the final result does not meet the standards outlined in the estimate or contract. No proper grading was completed. Every time it rains pools of water sits in front and behind the wall. The response received was. "we have passed all inspections.  There will be some water pooling while it is settling still. Plus the fact of the hard rain today, it will happen." The wall has been completed for 2 months and the same thing happens when it rain. Given the extensive problems, stress and anxiety I have faced. He's thinking and strategizing about his jobs the day and night before. He's not in a rush and takes the time to do the job right the first time. I can't say that about most workers that I've had at the house. He also use to work for Pella doors and windows considered the best in their field. He's now on his own, arrives on time, returns phone calls, comes to the job prepared. Wish I had met him years ago. Can't go wrong with this guy.
