No frills detected. Locals and out of town visitors (like me) will instantly feel confortable in this downtown Lancaster diner-esque grill. The staff makes sure of that. Since we were there during brunch, the spouse and I had two of their brunch staples. My Works Skillet was essentially a meat lovers omelette that looked a little better on paper than it tasted. The individual components tasted fine, but the dish was a little dry for me. The missing ingredient was cheese, so please request that they add some to your dish if you order it. I was able to steal a little of my wife's Dijon Hollandaise from her Eggs Benny to moisten my entree, and it was a good audible. The herb home fries were very nice, just like our waitress who struck up a conversation with us around the local happenings to partake in during the nice weather. Came back to Lancaster for the first time in 40 years to catch up with an old friend. We met at JB's Downtown Grill, a quaint place on North Columbus Street. Very friendly greeting by my waitress as I sat and waited. While waiting, I asked to try their French onion soup (which I love) but unfortunately it wasn't available. So I went with the second best thing, their deviled eggs. Haven't eaten deviled eggs in a long time and I so enjoyed these. My buddy arrived and we both ordered the pork belly BLT on a hoagie roll. Upgraded my side to their onion rings. Loved the sandwich, a nice and different take on the BLT. Our server was terrific, checked on us repeatedly and refilled our drinks as we got caught up. Stopped on our way to Logan for a couples weekend away. It was a Friday evening and they were fairly busy. We waited almost 30 min for food ...or this would be a five star review. Our server was so sweet and kept apologizing, but we waited too long to stop and I was getting hangry. My husband enjoyed the classic and I ordered the cod sandwich. It was one of the best I'd ever had and huge! Their yummy coleslaw is a dill base and homemade. We both had a filling, well prepared dinner for under $40 with tip....hard to do these days. JB really puts his foot in it, man. This cat is the real deal, and he's serving up some great comfort food in Lancaster, Ohio. The restaurant is named after him (Jamie), and I had the pleasure of meeting him because he came out from the kitchen to greet us, even though he was busy. I was told by the exceedingly friendly server that the portions were huge. I'm not a volume eater -- more of a taster -- so I opted for a variety of sliders. I loved all of them but my favorite might have been the pork belly slider, the pulled pork slider and the fried chicken slider. Each was cooked perfectly, and made for a tasty lunch. I also got a basket of onion rings, which were fried and crispy and not at all greasy. They have a kids menu here, and my kids both ordered cheeseburgers. Just be aware that the kids cheeseburgers are sliders-sized, which is kinda small, so if you have kids who are big eaters, you might want to order them a regular-sized burger. Kids meals come with a side and a drink. The dining room is cute and has a jukebox, so you can play some tunes of your choosing while you eat. read more

My mom, sister and I meet up in Lancaster often, and JB's Downtown Grill has become our go-to place. JB's has a pretty big menu. Their salads are pretty big. Each comes in half or full size. My mom and sister are partial to the Greek salad and I love the Spring salad. The Spring salad comes with pineapple, grapes and candied nuts. It is an odd combination in my mind, but it is truly delicious with Italian dressing. All their sandwiches we've tried have been great. The classic slider with cheddar is my favorite. I can't explain why their burgers are so good, but I can say that I think it's my favorite burger I've had. (What?! I know.) The only thing I don't love at JB's are the fries. They're OK, I just prefer fries to be crisp and these are kinda soggy. All in all, JB's is absolutely worth your time. Give it a try! read more

The salad was very fresh and tasty. I absolutely loved the sweetness in the homemade Italian dressing. I also had the baby classic hamburger which was cooked perfectly. The service was quick. We had the privilege of dining at JB's on their opening day, and it was a wild success! The restaurant was packed when we arrived for a late lunch at 1:30. The menu has a great variety, and the prices are extremely reasonable! The portion sizes are perfect, and everyone there was raving about how great their food was! I spent much of my meal looking around at what other people were eating, excusing myself for having "food envy" because it all looked so good! Chef Jamie Brumbaugh takes extra care when compared to others in the business--he makes his food from scratch, right down to the pickles and sauces! His passion for cooking good food at great prices really shows on your plate! Now for the food we ordered: I had a traditional slider that was listed on the appetizer menu, as well as a pork belly slider with dijon mayo. My adult son ordered the chicken tenders (and they are HUGE) with General Tso sauce on them. We split an order of spuds (think FAIR FRIES, oh my goodness!) There was more there than we could finish; in fact, he has enough for lunch tomorrow! To finish off, we had one of Jamie's wife's favorites, the creme brûlée. Everything was perfect. I could eat there every day! In fact...I'm really looking forward to his Sunday Brunch! Nice little place. About 16 tables, and when we got there just after the lunch rush, The outside tables and main room were full. We were unaware there was a second room as we arrived. It seemed the wait staff was over burdened as it took us a while for a server to get us menus and longer for the drinks order to come back to us. She was handling half the tables as well as the takeout orders. We ordered a grilled chicken sandwich (with fries) which we converted to a wrap, and a chicken quesadilla from the appetizer menu. Two side salads with those orders. The chicken wrap was good . The fries were the star of the show. Fresh cut and delicious. The quesadilla was very tasty as well. Went there on a whim! My Mom, Step-Dad and I went here for dinner while in the area. The staff and environment were all very nice. The food was delicious and we had three different items. We had the hamburger (which is ground daily by the Chef/Owner) and it was amazing, the grilled chicken strips which were not over cooked and very moist as well as the fried chicken strips of which were also very moist and not over done. I was in town from Seattle, where we always have an abundance of excellent food choices. I have to say, Sunday brunch at JB's Downtown Grill was an amazing experience! I enjoyed their Eggs Benny, with a side of the most delectable pork belly I've tasted. The garlic potatoes were the perfect side to the eggs Benedict. My friend had light, fluffy, and yummy pancakes (I know, because I tasted them!) with unique and tasty rhubarb butter. She also had a fresh fruit plate that was the perfect cap to our brunch. JB's!
