This was our first visit here after finding the restaurant on Yelp. I had the Pig and Cow burger with fresh cut fries and was extremely pleased. My husband and son both had the Pulled Pork Slaw Burger and loved theirs too. Our daughter had the chicken fingers and fresh cut fries and they were also delicious. We did get dessert even though we were all very stuffed only because they have Creme Brûlée! We got an order of Creme Brûlée and a price of German Chocolate Cake. What an excellent experience!! Had lunch the other day and it was quite delish. The service was very friendly and the atmosphere was very relaxed. Almost felt like having lunch at a friend's house. They have updated the interior some from the previous legendary restaurant that occupied the space. Before I get into the review let me just tell you they have deviled eggs!! You buy them individually!!! OH MY I thought I had died and gone to heaven. So I ordered the daily special which was BBQ grilled cheese and tomato soup. The addition of BBQ to the grilled cheese just took a classic to another level. The only thing I can say lacking was a pickle. I'm sure that if I had asked they would have given me one but not everyone likes pickle with their grilled cheese. I will definitely ask for one the next time. There will definitely be a next time. Now let's talk about that tomato soup!! It was divine to say the least. It was thick and chunky but not too chunky. It was truly soup you could eat with a fork but the spoon helps you get that tomato goodness to your cake hole faster. It was beyond delicious and it took me back to my younger days when I first discovered that I could make canned tomato soup with milk instead of water. I know crazy analogy but that's what it reminded me of. You have definitely got to try this!!!! My spouse ordered a burger I can't remember which one it was but it was delish. The double burger was served on a hoagie style bun with the patties side by side instead of stacked. Brilliant execution as you weren't left trying to unhinge your jaw to get the scrumptious burger in your pie hole. I do have to say that the fries were a bit of a disappointment as they were a bit soggy. However this was not significant enough to deduct any stars. We had dinner there on opening day. Usually there are a few bumps and hiccups at a new place, but if there were any they certainly weren't evident. Chef Jamie knows his way around a kitchen! The place was packed yet the wait wasn't bad at all. We were seated immediately and given our drinks within minutes. We chose a variety of items from the menu. We got a traditional slider, pork belly slider, chicken slider, pulled pork slider, and fries. There is a choice of cheeses and sauces to choose from. Again we chose a variety. The onion rings are like nothing you have ever had anywhere before. Of course to add something healthy I got a Greek salad that was fresh and crisp and had the perfect mixture of ingredients. We are definitely going back. Sunday brunch will be a must. If you are in town visiting this is a must stop here. We are lucky enough to live close enough to frequent this establishment! read more

We got the nacHos, a chicken tender sandwich and the pork belly sandwich. The nachos were good and a large portion, the chicken tender sandwich was huge and good but the pork belly sandwich was lacking in pork belly. It had I believe, 1 thin slice on each side of the sub. A lot of bread and other stuff to deal with while only having a thin piece of pork belly. I'd go back but I definitely wouldn't get the pork belly sub. If I could give it 3 1/2 stars I would, not a 4 star. read more

Major disappointment. My husband and I came to support a local eatery. We didn't realize there was a limited menu (Sunday brunch) so we opted for chicken fingers. His was to be grilled with no seasoning, but my fried fingers were not basted in the sauce I had requested. There was a light flavor on the grilled ones, but there was no way it was buffalo sauce. We both sensed that our chicken was underdone and the texture was gnarly. The fries were drenched in so much grease, we were pretty much turned off by the food. The chicken and the fries both lacked flavor and it took quite a bit of salt to flavor. I'm glad that they were busy and are popular. They won't be needing our future business. read more

First time there and ordered a Cuban sandwich. It was very good except I didn't care for the pork belly. It wasn't cooked crispy enough so it was too fatty. Next time I'll leave it off and ask for more pulled pork. Service was fine except server didn't tell me about daily specials. Today was our 3rd time at JBs as we do not eat out a lot. When we do we always stick to non-chain or Ohio small chain restaurants. I had the brunch skillet with homefries and cheddar chive biscuit. The skillet was good and the biscuit tasty, but the homefries stole the show. OMG! I usually avoid eating potatoes as they don't like me even though I like them. I was only going to have a few bites, I swear! They were really crispy on the outside and creamy and soft in the center. And there were all these littler extra crispy small pieces mixed in the pile that made them irresistible. Cleaned the whole plate. I may be miserable for a day or two but so worth it! I have to give a shout out for the Cuban too. I had it last time we were there as a wrap (no extra charge) and it was awesome. I don't think I would have been able to finish it if it had been on the bun there was so much meat. I loved the homemade pickles on it. I would definitely recommend JBs to everyone. read more

The onion rings had a smoke flavor that was too strong. I wished the hamburger was served on a bun and not a hoagie bun. Too much bread. We got the chance to enjoy a Sunday brunch at JB's Downtown Grill. Famous for a brunch that is currently only available on Sunday and features fresh and delicious creations by Chef Jamie. Jamie and Beth (hence JB's) were the sweetest couple and took time out of their busy morning to talk with us about their love of food, the town of Lancaster and all things neighborly. All meals are made from scratch with a comfort food feeling. Even the bacon is made in house daily, they cure pork belly to make their bacon and then their neighbor (and friend) Bob's Backyard BBQ smoke it for them. We walked away from brunch with a feeling of just how much the town of Lancaster supports one another. During our chat, we found out they are known for their burgers, so we have big plans to go back as Kevin is always on the hunt for the best burger and if the bacon was any indication, I already know we are going to be blown away. read more

We were charged incorrectly and when I brought it to the waitress's attention she actually argued back with me. Went for a late lunch yesterday. Service was friendly and efficient. Love the menu. I had the Belly BLT and while it was delicious, the ratio of pork belly to marinated tomatoes to shredded lettuce and finally to the bread was off. All I could taste was the bread. I didn't care for the fries as they were very small (1&1/2 inches long) and they were soggy. I am a crispy frie fan! The onion rings while delicious, the portion was quite small 5 rings for $4.95. That's a heck of markup. I tried it and while it was good, I would not say value for money and nothing to bring me back! Perhaps as they have only been at it 6 months, they need to re-evaluate. I and a group from work made our first visit to this establishment this past Thursday (7-12). The restaurant is very clean. And the new renovations look great! We were seated quickly, but did not get our orders taken for about 10 minutes, as it was clear they were busy and a little understaffed. We placed our orders. I ordered the Pig and Cow. A great name for a bacon cheese burger. The menu read it was a half pound burger with bacon, choice of cheese and toppings. I ordered mine plain, just cheese and bacon and burger I ordered the burger medium well. We got our orders quick, and this is where my opinion dropped. The burger is actually two 1/4 pound burgers on a hoagie bun, sliced in two. My burger still came with all the toppings, and the toppings were mixed in, as I could not just take them off. I sent the burger back. In a matter of minutes, the burger was returned, and was told by the waitress, "We scrapped off what we could, it's the best we can do right now, we're really busy". I proceeded to eat the first " half". The bacon was good, the burger was a little on the medium side, a bit more pink than I like, but was hot. It was when I got to the other half, the second burger was red and cool. Too cool. I stopped eating and finished my fries. The waitress saw this, and never questioned my not finishing the food. The billing system, while high in technology, took forever. For each card that was used at the table, the waitress had to make two trips for each of us to read the card, process the bill, and go back to the register to reset the card reader. The bill for food and drink, before tip, was just under $15.00. A bit more than I like to spend for lunch, and definitely overcharged for the quality of service I received. The other four in my group, while I'm not writing a review for them, were feeling the same about the price/quality of service. I will give them a few weeks to make adjustments. It clear they just opened and are still getting the feel for the business. read more

This place was awesome! The service was quick and the hostess/waitress was friendly and attentive. We ordered the onion rings as appetizers, we loved that they were not greasing and the sauce was amazing too! I had the pig/cow sandwich which was very delicious and my wife had the chicken/cow sandwich which she loved and we both had the fries (again! Awesome). I also had a salad that came with a deviled egg which was very good. We each had a dessert as well, I love the creme brûlée and my wife had the fruit crisp - cherry which she liked. We happened upon JB's as we were driving through Lancaster looking for a place for breakfast. We saw some folks seated outside, and thought we'd give it a try. Upon entering, we were created with friendly faces and a sincere "Welcome!" We sat on the far side where a large jukebox replica was. It was filled with wonderful hits from the 50's and 60's. 5 for $1. Our waitress came to our table quickly and coffee was quickly served. Very good, rich coffee. She took our order quickly and it was served within 10 min. "Eggs Benedict" was not traditional, as served on cheddar biscuits, choice of meat on the side, and a very lemony hollandaise. A suggestion would be to have English Muffin as an option, along with serving the meat on the bread instead of on the side. My meal was the country breakfast ( 2 eggs, meat, home fries and toast) I requested my eggs to be prepared over medium, but they came out over easy, so I requested a recook, which was done quickly. I requested a side of sausage gravy, which to my surprise , ended up being $3.95 for a ramekin size serving. Yikes! Also, coffee was $4 a cup!!!!! Coffee should be $2.50 a cup max. Yikes!!! For the two of us, the meal with 15% tip was $37 ! I normally tip a minimum of 20% , but when I saw the total, I was shocked. We may return for the great ambiance and staff friendliness, but we will be more aware of the costs of drinks and sides. read more

I cannot say enough good things about our dinner at JB's. We tried the onion rings, deviled eggs and Dorito salad. I found the taste of these dishes to be on par with some of the best restaurants I've visited in a variety of states. The food has a definite taste of being "chef prepared". The interior was nice, the small juke boxes added a nice touch. However, the inside was incredibly hot. The temperature was simply too excessive to be able to enjoy anything. I ordered the Pig and Cow burger, it was advertised to be a half pound. The burger comes out and it is two quarter pound burgers on a hoagie bun. It was okay but nothing to really make me want to try them again. Additionally, the bill seemed to be somewhat excessive for the items I ordered. I always like to give local places a try, especially over chains but in this case I wish I had visited Five Guys instead. read more
