A nice place with a homey lodge vibe. The place was absolutely packed when we arrived but they still got us seated relatively quickly and worked with us with a surprise extra seat. Unfortunately the food itself was a little uninspired; I got scrambled eggs, hash browns, corned beef hash, and an English muffin, and everything just tasted a little off, like maybe not enough salt or not enough butter, not really sure what it was. Yes, Todd's Mountain View Restaurant doesn't actually have a mountain view (if you peer around the buildings and trees in front of it, you can see where they probably had a nice view decades ago when the restaurant first opened), however the food more than makes up for it. My family of 4 went around 1 p.m., and it was plenty busy, but we did not have to wait for a table. We were greeted as soon as we walked in the door and instructed to sit where we wanted. Our server came to the table quickly after we sat down. We ordered a pork tenderloin sandwich with a side of baked potato, kids' french toast with a side of bacon, eggs with home fries and sausage patties, and the skillet breakfast. Oh. My. Goodness. The food was amazing! The pork tenderloin sandwich was among the best I've ever had (I try them everywhere), the skillet breakfast was seasoned deliciously, the home fries were crispy, and even the kids' French toast was so good. We live about 45 minutes away in Columbus, but we're already talking about when we can make it back to visit this restaurant again. It's mostly classic diner food, but the depth of flavor they've managed to achieve is notable. I highly recommend checking them out if you're in the area. I didn't get to go so I don't know about the service or ambiance like yelp is wanting me to tell you about, but I'd recommend the Philly steak sandwich. I was so occupied with fries (which were kinda mid but still pretty good) that I was only able to eat almost half of the sandwich. I didn't have it with onions because I don't like onions, but I bet it's good with onions for people who like/can have onions. There was a piece left that I gave to my dad, he said it was amazing. The restaurant stayed consistently busy and the service was exceptional! The servers were constantly looking for cups to refill as well as plates to remove from the tables. It was slow service to start but totally worth it. We loved the gravy over the biscuits. It has great flavor with hints of herb. The servers were working hard and we could only count two throughout the entire place. They bus their own tables and all so please show patience. A very busy out of the way, old school, local, restaurant. Large parking lot all the way around. Very active but we had no trouble finding a place to park. The inside is just basic restaurant. It may not have changed significantly in decades. However, the many tables and booths were adequately spaced so even constantly full and customers and staff do their things it wasn't overly noisy and was comfortable, non-rushed and cordial. We went to the hostess/cashier station and she allowed us to choose an empty "clean" table. They were few and far between and filled up almost instantly. Our pleasant, efficient, server came promptly. This extensive, 2 sided menu has something for anyone, any meal, any time! Our food came promptly. Our portions, and everyone around us potions, went from large to huge. Temperatures were good. My friend had one of the daily specials from an order board on the wall ( in addition to the menus). Catfish. It was a substantial rectangular piece of breaded fish. He said it was good, but, not distinctive as catfish.... His choice of sides were the 2 you pay extra for, breaded mushrooms which he said were great, and breaded cheese sticks which he said were a bit hard. He cleaned his plate though. I had the liver and onions, home fries, celery dressing with brown gravy. I should have had gravy (which was good) over it all. 3 thin, but large slices of liver. I didn't finish everything.. the meal also came with dinner rolls neither of us touched. And we didn't even consider the desserts including a selection of pies on the menu board... My friend immediately started complaining about being uncomfortably full. I was close... The 2 of us ate for just over $30. It was a 20 mile excursion for us to come try it and we both said we'd do it again. read more

This place it is a hometown favorite and has been for years! It's called Todd's Mountain View for a reason, it's because there is a view of Mount Pleasant in the winter when all the trees along the river that weren't there 20 years ago have no leaves on them. Other times the mountain can be difficult to see. On the inside, however is a different story. The food is always delicious, the weight staff is very good at their jobs & always smiling, I'm 64 years old have been going to this restaurant since I was probably 10 and I've not had one complaint in all those years. No restaurant will ever be 100% perfect, but this place in spite of a few negative reviews is top-notch and I would recommend Todds to everyone wanting a taste of a real Mom and Pop restaurant, the kind of restaurants that are slowly dying away because of the chain restaurants, then if you're driving through Lancaster, or are new to the area, go to Todd's, they will take good care of you. read more

Well, I finally tried their " broasted " chicken ( country chicken dinner. Got the three piece special with two sides , mashed potatoes and gravy and peas. DELICIOUS!!! Big pieces of chicken with a marvelous crunchy coating and moist meat within. Literally " finger licking" good. The potatoes where NOT whipped but honest to goodness mashed , topped with a flavorful chicken gravy. Even the peas were well cooked, done but not mushy. Topped it off with a shared piece of Coconut Cream pie. Now on to try other delights there! ( Did I see Johnny Marzetti on the menu board???)
