He went out of his way to accommodate my tight timeline and the financial aspects as well. The doctor made me feel comfortable and at ease the whole time. I was nervous, but his calm, friendly energy and sense of humor really helped, and I always felt safe in his care. He was thorough and attentive, making sure everything was done properly--including the temporary seal so I could travel comfortably. A few months ago, I had trauma on my front tooth and needed to get a root canal because tooth was starting to discolor from the dead nerves. I had never gotten a root canal before and was feeling really nervous, especially because I was in the early days of pregnancy. Dr. Forghani took the time to answer all of my questions and talked me through all the pros and cons of doing it now vs. waiting. I've never had a dentist (yet alone any doctor) spend that much time with me prior to a procedure, and I felt so much more calm because I trusted him. The procedure itself was relatively quick and the only painful part was really the numbing shots on both sides. After he thoroughly removed the dead nerves, my tooth already started to come back to its normal color and with a bit of bleaching, it almost looks normal now. This was honestly the best experience I could've ever asked for and I'm so grateful that Dr. Forghani was my doctor for this. He's not only a talented doctor but is also an incredible human -- he's kind, empathetic, and thoughtful. You will be in great hands under his care. I cannot speak to the quality of the actual services provided here, they did look at my extremely complicated records and the Assistant Allison was very nice and stayed on the phone with me for a long time, but they refused to see me because I had three quadrants that were hurting, they only wanted to allot 30 minutes to the exam and look at one quadrant and two specific teeth which was the most problematic area --when I agreed to that, they also insisted on doing biting and tapping tests that I already had SIX times by other dentists (written reports) with the same result and I didn't want to do again because every time it was normal but started horrid pain afterwards and if I wasn't going to have a root canal on the spot, I was only having a consultation, I would not have enough pain medication to last me as I was running out of my prescribed medication. They refused to just review my CBCT scan and look at the teeth with transillumination and do thermal testing. They then gave me a referral to a dentist on my insurance who is a general dentist and not an endodontist to do a "whole mouth review" which I already had four times by general dentists, and also three previous endodontists, that was why I was trying to go to them in the first place as they are supposed to be highly competent specialists regarding cracked teeth even among endodontists. Apparently, they only accept uncomplicated cases, which does not imply a specialist in my opinion. read more

The doctors and staff make it a pleasant experience, once you get past the pain med injections (which really are not bad, a little pinch and then the meds kick in). When I found out that I had to get a root canal, I was pissed! This was to be my second one, and the first one was one of the most painful experiences I've ever had. They have a great team, Loni, Eva, Emily and Dr. Forghani took care of me and everything was so smooth from scheduling to walking out the office. I came here after my dentist tried to do my root canal but couldn't halfway due to an atypical root. Dr. Forghani was very clear in recommending the 3D scan and why it would be beneficial for my case but the choice was mine as it is an extra charge($250). He also checked up on me throughout the procedure, and let me know what was going on. Amazing bedside manners and ensuring I was comfortable throughout the procedure made me feel very safe. Knowing that I have an atypical tooth, I went for the 3D scan and overall I still paid less than what my dentist was charging me for just a root canal. PLEASE READ before going here. I saw Dr. Chubak this morning and could not have been more disappointed in how I was treated as a patient. My procedure was to clean out possible tooth decay that was approaching a nerve. Ideally, I would just need a filling, but Dr. Chubak was clear that if he hit the nerve during cleaning, they would have to proceed to a root canal. Note: I do not have dental insurance, so the cost of the procedure would increase by $1,000+ if they had to do a root canal. The procedure was going well and I didn't feel any pain - I will compliment the practice on their excellent equipment and Dr. Chubak on a painless procedure. My experience took a turn for the worse when they finished the procedure and explained that they had, in fact, performed a root canal. Hang on - never was I made aware that he was proceeding to the root canal. Maybe it's just me, but if I am about to spend $1,000+ on something, I would at least like the courtesy of a heads up! He KNEW I was cash pay and that the root canal would be a huge expense for me. It honestly felt like he avoided telling me because he was worried I would object to the root canal (and the additional payment). My experience became even stranger when I asked him why he didn't tell me about the root canal. He said that it should have been obvious when he "started using the various chemicals" and "when he got close to the nerve". Sorry, but I am not an orthodontist - how the heck am I supposed to know that means he is doing a root canal? This was the worst part, because everyone in the room knew it was a poor excuse. I was clear I was unhappy with how the procedure unfolded, and Dr. Chubak did apologize for the lack of communication. The cherry on top was when I tried to pay (my enormous bill). I tried to use my HSA, but the funds I moved into my cash account from my investment account hadn't settled yet. I asked the receptionist if I could wait for them to settle and call back and pay tomorrow. Her attitude became almost mocking - "well it's not OUR fault your HSA doesn't work". At this point I was just embarrassed. I explained my frustration with the entire experience and she just became more hostile. I was starting to raise my voice in the waiting room and Dr. Chubak came and brought me into a back room so I wouldn't alarm the other patients. He told me he understood why I was upset (truthfully, it did not feel very genuine), and told the receptionist I could pay in a few days. He also offered me a sizeable discount, which was also a red flag - if the doctor felt he did the right thing, why would he discount his services? It felt like a bribe to get me to shut up and leave. I rarely leave Yelp reviews, but the lack of communication and condescending attitude from Dr. Chubak and receptionist left me with a really bad feeling and I want (a) potential patients to be aware of this and (b) Dr. Chubak to learn from this. I've had great experiences with orthodontists where they've been 100% clear and upfront about the procedure. All Dr. Chubak had to do was say, "Hey - this isn't what you want to hear, but we've hit the nerve and I need to proceed to the root canal. I know it will cost more, but in my honest opinion, this is best for your tooth and will save you money in the long run. Are you comfortable proceeding?" I had finally got myself to feel "okay" to show up to my usual dental cleaning this past Nov (few months delay due to Covid fears and all).. I was actually desperate and had to go due to some pain and irritation on either side of my mouth. Was told I needed 2 root canals. *AHhhhh!!!!* (stress? teeth grinding? my crowded teeth!?? who knows- but 2!!?) My dentist had referred me to J/C- whom I called as soon as I left her office. They were able to schedule me with an appointment the following week (which was no big deal since I wasn't in major pain, and I had dread about the whole thing anyway- esp 2 root canals). Setting up the appointment and my insurance info was super quick, smooth and simple- front desk rep I spoke to was very knowledgable and sweet. (I adore everyone in the office btw, everyone is very professional, personable and nice!) Day of, I met with Dr Chubak who took some X-rays, explained everything to me and basically executed a pleasant root canal- yes.. I said "pleasant". It was a tricky molar with 4 wonky roots and he took care of it, easy peasy! Mind you, I've had a history of teeth issues my entire life with some root canals before (though my dentist), and Dr. Chubak- for me is like a root canal god/angel! No pain whatsoever, the way he does things is very professional, thorough, efficient and caring. So we only did 1 root canal that day so I would have at least a "good" side to chew on until I could go back to my dentist for the posts and follow up procedure. I came back to him for the 2nd root canal the first week of Jan. I knew I would be fine and in good hands, but still.. human dread creeps in- it IS a root canal, after all. This one was even more pleasant and also easy peasy. *I seriously must remind myself not to dread so much in the future. A few days after I had my #1 root canal done, my husband also ended up needing one as well (first of his life, can we thank covid?!? I dont know). Of course I make him an appointment with Dr. Chubak who took care of him and it was probably the smoothest/pleasant dental procedures he's had ever (He's also been blessed with many teeth issues throughout life. So when we say a procedure is pleasant/painless- it really is). I really hope I'm done with root canals for life. HOWEVER.. if I'm ever told I needed one, I can confidently know I have a beloved endodontist. And I'm sure I'll do the usual dreading leading up to it, but will quickly remember Dr. Chubak is seriously a root canal rock star and there is nothing to fear. read more

My experience at Jacobson & Chubak was easy from start to finish. I called to get a last-minute appointment for a root canal consultation and Jen at the front desk made it easy, and asked all the right questions to make sure I got the proper care I needed. Upon arrival, everyone at the front desk was lovely, and I was even taken into the exam room immediately. Even though I had sent over bitewing X-rays from my last dental exam, they took an X-ray of the tooth in question. Dr. Jacobson came in and after taking a look at my X-ray, did a cold test and a few other tests on my teeth and fortunately for me, did not feel like I needed a root canal. I highly prefer doctors that err on the more conservative side-no need to get invasive if you still have other options. He gave me several recommendations of what to do, but in the case that my tooth is still bothering me, I will definitely be back to see Dr. Jacobson. read more

I developed a pain in one of my rear teeth yesterday and went to my regular dentist. He informed me that I needed a difficult root canal and referred me to JC Endodontics. I called them up and was surprised that they were able to schedule me for the procedure today. From the very beginning of my visit, I was very impressed with the knowledge and professionalism of the entire team. I had two root canals done here, one with Dr. Jacobson and another with Dr. Chubak. If you need a root canal procedure, I cannot recommend this office enough. Their receptionist and dental insurance processor, Jen, is super friendly and informative. She made sure all my claims were processed correctly, and kept me apprised of my remaining dental insurance funds. The dental assistant for both my root canals, Elaina, was amazing. She kept things running smoothly, and was a friendly presence in what could have otherwise been a nerve-wracking experience. And finally, both Dr. Jacobson and Dr. Chubak fixed my teeth without issue. Minus some very minor pain from the anesthesia shot, both root canals were painless. Even better, I had no pain even after the anesthesia wore off. It's been about 3-4 weeks since my root canals, and both my teeth are pain free and without issue. After neglecting to see a dentist for over 3 years, it was of no major surprise that I ended up with a deep cavity which was near the nerve. I was warned by my dentist that attempts to fill it may fail and I could require a root canal in the future. Sadly his warning came true and after weeks of mild pain, the pain became so severe that after a follow-up emergency dentist appointment I was immediately referred to Drs. Jacobson and Chubak's practice. I called first thing in the morning and spoke to a super warm and friendly office manager who got me a same day appointment with Dr. Chubak. I got to the office and was greeted with a super friendly front desk staff who already had my insurance information confirmed so the paperwork was a breeze (which helped since I was in a ton of pain). After a brief wait I was brought to the procedure room and met Dr. Chubak. Immediately he put me at ease, explained what he was going to do, and gave me the assurance that I would have zero downtime from my training for the NYC marathon around the corner. Overall root canals are not exactly pleasant, nor was mine straight forward, however Dr. Chubak had me done and out the door in less than 2 hours. He even showed me through my x-rays what he did, where they couldn't reach as I had a very curved root canal (and what the implications could be of that down the road), and what my post op recovery steps would be and the next steps with my dentist. It's been a few hours since the procedure and I also got a text from Dr. Chubak asking me how I'm doing. So far so good, I'm able to speak, function, eat, and drink without pain, and I'll see how things go over the next few days, however I highly recommend this practice for anyone who requires advanced dental procedures done! read more

I was so excited to experience a root canal and had them bookmarked on Yelp . Fabulous and would definitely go back . Ok, seriously, don't plan to go back; hopefully never a need. I can't stand Dr and Dentist appointments - even checkups let alone a drill? Gasp gasp breathe breathe ... Makes me uneasy and feel angst. But ... Needed sudden unexpected root canal. Ugh. I was able to get in to their office quickly, staff was very chill and friendly, no stress, and Dr Jacobson and his staff made me feel relaxed and comfortable during the procedure. A nervous, high standard top top expectation in Dr. / dentist patient, I couldn't have asked for a better Dr. and staff. I left a similar review on ZocDoc. I had a root canal yesterday with Dr. Chubak. Once again, the experience was absolutely top notch. I was in and out in under an hour. I felt absolutely no pain or discomfort either during the procedure or afterward. Also, Dr. Chubak's assistant Ashely was amazing. She had a sunny disposition and was very warm and caring. She made the visit significantly less stressful. Overall, I would recommend regular dental visits so you can avoid having a root canal altogether; however, if that ship has sailed for you, as it had for me, then I recommend seeing Dr. Chubak and his staff above anyone else. Horrifying experience. Please read before deciding to go there. Considering their specialty is root canal, I made an appointment to see Dr. Daivid Jacobson. Despite I brought x-rays that was taken from my general dentist in less than 2 weeks, they wanted me to take another x ray there ($$$). He took a brief look at it. Then, the procedure started. I didn't think too much at the beginning. In the middle of procedure, dental assistant asked Dr. Jacobson. Do you want the x ray taken? He said, No. then he started filling after root canal. After the procedure, they took the final x ray and it turns out that he missed a nerve. So, he says that he missed the nerve and that we need to do it again. Hence, he starts drilling down the filling again, then does root canal. It was done such in a rush and a rough manner (I assume he wanted to hurry and get his lunch). It was the most horrifying 3+ hours of procedure I've done at any dental office due to a negligence of Dr. David Jacobson. It costed over 2,000$, and I really hope that there wouldn't be any complications or infections that would require another root canal in near future. I want to start by saying the staff at this office is amazing - as I walked in I was greeted by my first name. I went to Dr. Jacobson to see if it was possible to do a retreatment on my tooth that already had a root canal done. The tooth started aching due to negligence of the previous doctor that had worked on my tooth. His staff took X-rays of my tooth and he reviewed it with me in a way I understood and could comprehend. In addition to being diagnosed, the office was ready to do treatment on me that same day. Dr. Jacobson then told me that he was going to take the broken file out and do the retreat on my tooth. I was thrilled with excitement that I was going no longer to be in pain or that I wasn't going to lose my tooth. I had to cancel and reschedule a couple of appointments I'd made for a painful root canal at the last minute due to an unexpected and serious extended hospitalization. Every time we thought I was going to be okay, I backslid. It was a very scary experience, and each time I rescheduled I apologize profusely, explained at length, and asked how I should handle it, doing everything I could to accommodate. For the last appointment, I actually told the young woman I might have to cancel it morning of if things went wrong because it was on a Monday and asked her if that was okay. She assured me that it was and said they totally understood my situation. When I called to cancel, a very nasty woman outright shamed me over it, despite my explaining the situation and my previous conversations with office staff, saying, "you realize you're cancelling day of with no notice," and even chastising the other woman to me, saying she would "speak with her" about telling me that was okay in the first place. I was mortified. When I tried to book a new appointment this morning now that I'm on the mend, they made me wait to talk to the office manager this afternoon, who condescendingly informed me that they were changing their policy just for me to now require 48 hours cancellation moving forward, and if I cancelled any appointments again it would mean I could no longer be a patient. All because I was hospitalized, openly communicative with them about it, and told by staff repeatedly that it was 100% okay. WOW. Literally bargain basement level patient care. If I were a longtime patient who cancelled all the time because I overslept or went for a manicure and did it with zero regard, sure -- I get wanting to protect the time of both doctors and patients. But to punish and shame a patient over an isolated, unexpected, serious healthcare emergency that they were openly communicative about AS A HEALTHCARE PROVIDER is just atrocious. There wasn't even a shred of empathy in her entire delivery. I was so upset that I actually cried when I hung up the phone. Not because I can't handle a 48 hour cancellation window -- I'm a big girl -- but because I can't imagine being that callous to someone who is clearly already going through something serious health-wise and claiming you're doing it in the name of patient care. There were other things that happened on this call, like snide comments and an implication that she'd spoken with my referring dentist's office about me, all of which were super unprofessional, but honestly, it's just not even worth going into detail. Bottom line: Dr. Chubak is an absolutely fantastic specialist (hence the extra star in my review) so if you can handle office staff who treat you like trash then by all means, book an appointment. EXCELLENCE is the only word to describe my experience from beginning to end! I have had an abscess in a tooth that needed a root canal but the infection kept me from having it done and the fact that it's difficult for my mouth to numb. Usually even after 8 or 9 shots. Dr. Jacobson said "I will give you 3 shots and I promise you will feel nothing. If you do I will give you more but I know you will not need it." HE WAS CORRECT! Felt no pain. The procedure was quick and all to the tunes of the Queen Aretha Franklin #RIP. I have already recommended this dentist to 4 people in less than a week! Going back for a second root canal in 2 weeks!
