I returned a defective hot wheels case that I had ordered for a Christmas present and received in the mail. I was there for 35 minutes trying to get a defective item credited to my credit card. I presented the defective item with the packing slip. I also had written down the order number, date it was ordered and price I paid. The foreign lady that was hard to understand basically told to 10 different ways that I didn't know what I was talking about and was lying because that hit wheels case was not on that order. I told her I ordered it with a telescope and some shirts. I received the order in 4 shipments. After being very rude fir probably 15 minutes and saying she found the telescope order but I didn't order that case with it she Finally got 2 managers. They were the rudest customer service people I've ever encountered. I won't go into detail but they were so unprofessional, unorganized and rude that I will never step foot back in that store. All 3 of them were like they were ganging up on me. I had never had an experience like this. I actually could write a whole chapter about this situation but I don't have time but all 3 of them need training on how to actually do their job and how you should preform proper customer service. The first thing they need to know is you don't start talking bad about the customer as soon as they turn their back to leave. The store manager is rude and customer service is not her thing. The emploees try to avoid eye contact and continue working hoping you will find someone else to help you purchase your items. Prices are not correct on items even behind glass. So then you ask about it and yes that is the price until it is rung up, then it changes and they have attitude about it. "It is not their fault it is wrong, it just happens". The fake, smart remarks when your bothered about the lack of care from the Manager does not help bring a store up from an obvious decline in store patronage. When I grew up JcPenney's was the store were the nice stuff was, now it feels and looks like a low class place to shop. Here at Greenwood Mall it looks like a messy, unorganized low class store. I haven't been in a JCPenney in quite some time; however, decided to browse their watches on the way back to where we had parked. The blonde haired lady working the counter saw us looking and was already assisting another customer. After quite some time, with zero acknowledgement from the staff at the counter, another associate asked if we needed help. I explained that we wanted to purchase a watch. She went to the blond haired employee and let her know. Very rudely the lady told her "I'm already with a customer" and continued to chit chat. We left. I feel like good customer service should at least provide some sort of an acknowledgement. We'd been standing there a long time, waiting patiently, without even an "I'll be right with you." Well... Were to start..first off don't buy anything from these people that you expect to have delivered, they'll never be able to find the address even with detailed instructions... Secondly they make you put money on a gift card for a large purchase such as the appliances that I purchased....I couldn't really understand why they wouldn't take cash, but my suggestion to anyone would be to look elsewhere before buying any appliances from this shadtree outfit.. No wonder penny's is on the verge of going out of business. JC penny's used to be a company that prided itself on customer service back in the day but not anymore... That's why I'll never set foot back in the place again. They could have made things right but they didn't. Oh well it's there loss. About a $2000 lost sale to be exact. read more

I was very disappointed when I made a special trip to the Greenwood Mall in Bowling Green KY to buy an advertised pair of earrings only to hear that they were completely out. The salesperson did not offer to order more or check at another store. I made a call to the management to complain, but again no offer to make good on the ad. I'm pretty sure this lackbof customer service is why JC Penny is losing market share as there are other more customer service oriented retailers. read more
