I ordered curtains & got the wrong length. Returned them in store & then went to check out the womens/shoe dept. They have a great selection of dresses & workout clothes!!! The more casual/business casual clothes are ok, but keep walking around - there is more to choose from- more than you think. I looked at the abundance of clearance & found a BUNCH of great things! 3 nice pants, 2 nice matching shirts, a matching tank & 1 3-set AND 1 6-set of earrings for about $112! Now to try them on & hope it all fits. Just be willing to walk, search & meander... then meander some more to find a register. Many associates working & literally 1 register open in the kids dept for the entire floor. So frustrating for all, but the associate was kind & helpful. Oh and twice 2 different guests walked out of 2 different entrances & set the alarm off... not 1 person cared to stop them to check for tags/reciepts... that's on them. Didn't hurt my shopping. This is Jacque Pennie! It's been here forever and most people that come here for clothes or bedding or kitchen items or perfume know what they're looking for and there's always good deals when you shop around. Not the fanciest store around and like all, way too much inventory but you deal with it fine what you need and get out. I was able to get my nieces some pajamas because I really love shopping in the women's section (not) and right at the end of an aisle or two perfect matching sets on sale got them and left. I'm done with shopping this year. Rest is on Amazon but no reason to give this place anything less than five stars because they do what they do and have been here for so long they should get a good following a repeat customers for the various departments. They have underground parking in handicap just outside the side door. Come on in because you will anyway but don't give it bad reviews if it took you too long at the checkout counter or to return something. Those are always unpleasant and if we trash our standard department stores on the one incident computer mess up or even a person that you didn't get along with that's not a rating on the business. To make a long story short: Placed and order to pick up for my husband. Prior to leaving, I checked the shoe selection and found two pair that I placed in my on-line cart. The ONLY reason I didn't order at that point was I would have to wait for "home delivery" since store pick up for items wasn't available. After collecting my husband's merchandise, I made my way to the shoe department and found the shoes I had in my cart, were in-store so I took them to desk to purchase. Since they rang up full price, the clerk was none too thrilled to do a price check, when I told her they were on-sale. When she returned to the desk, I told her "I could have saved you the trip, since I had them on my phone." She insisted, they don't match their own on-line ADVERTISED price. Cited it was "store policy." I asked if that policy is published, on-line or in the store. She said "I'm doing what I am told." Rather than argue, I asked for a sales manager. Round 2, same responses until she told me if I want that price, I have to order on-line. Since I had the shoes in hand, why would JCP want to do a FREE home delivery shipment, rather than me complete the purchase. Price differential was almost 22%. They absolutely need to fix their fitting room situation. There is one fitting room for the entire department store. The entire store!! The fitting rooms in the kids, juniors, and ladies sections are all closed. The line to use the one fitting room stretches across the entire store. Good luck if you want to try anything on. The attendants rush people trying on cloths since the line is so long. Ive even seen them kick people out for taking too long. The knock on the door and ask you to hurry up. As I start this review I have to share that I have had nothing but positive experiences at a JCPenney salon. I have lived and traveled all over the world in my life and have always been able to rely on JCPS to be my middle salon while I get settled or when I visit the states while living overseas. I moved to Atlanta in August 2022. in Oct 2022 I visited the salon the first time. I asked for highlights and asked for careful attention to be given to the crown area as gray was staring to come in. She claimed we needed root coverage...(again it's primarily coming in around the crown). My appointment was for highlights! I agree because they are the experts, right? I share with the stylist that I am a swimmer (so have chlorine buildup in my hair) and that I have naturally red highlights that come out with the sun...please adjust for those circumstances. She does. Or so I think. I leave. Highlights are ok. Roots kinda match. After two washings I have ANNIE red roots. I tolerate it for a couple of weeks ...but then have to come back in and express, I warned them. (We even called my previous stylist In Chicago and NY.). So they bury the mistake with highlights and lowlights to hide the error. Because Claudia did a great job... decide to go back. In January I make an appointment for highlights. My goal is to continue to build the blonde highlight so that as gray comes in it's not so obvious and I want the crown where it is coming in more and more to be covered. I arrive and I'm convinced to do root touch ups as it's less expensive (intrusive). I state very clearly that my goal is to continue to lighten m hair so that as the gray comes in it's covered. I ask for the root color to be lighter .I also state again very clearly that I am a swimmer and have natural reds in my hair. They convince me again to do a root cover (stating a series of letters and numbers I can't possibly understand!!!) I leave not pleased because it is too dark am told it will lighten in a few washings! Yep! Once again I have Annie red roots!!! I have not cried yet. I am close. Why go back? I trusted the BRAND! Well...now they have almost $400 of my money and they have at least 15 hours of my time at $350 an hour. Make this right!!! So I walk in with my roots the same way they were in Oct. I explain my goal is to lighten the roots in time so as the gray comes in it looks subtle as a transition. The manager states the roots the needs to be bleached. The stylist says to use a color remover and replace the lighter color. The manager insists on bleaching as it's the only way to get to roots lighter. I am not the expert...but when I sat up and saw my color the shades of big bird and Elmo. That's when I cried!!! I cried in public. Three years of work if lightening my hair bit by bit with strategy...ruined! Suddenly multiple stylists were washing my hair with different shampoos trying to get the tone down...green, blue, purple! Why? Because they didn't have the right toner in stock!!! I never wanted a sally beauty supply so badly!!! How can they not have the products in stock??? How does this happen???? So now we are approaching closing time. Need to get a result of some kind. I'm a combination of big bird and Elmo and I am in tears! I come home and get the "it's not as bad as you think" support and cry myself to sleep and wake up crying (first time ever this happens!!!). I call as the store opens! This is not going to work. I cannot even look ay myself in the mirror. They put lowlights into my hair. But guess what within a couple of washing's they are gone. They ruined my hair. I go back for what the manager says is the final repair...within two washings the lowlights are washing out and the orange streaks are coming through again. They have permanently damaged my hair and have washed their hands of their error! Who is accountable now? No one. They washed their hands of their mistakes. The manager literally told me this was the end of the road! I never asked her to make me look like Big Bird and Elmo streaked. When does corporate engage??? read more

Excellent customer service. thank you JC pennies for hiring such a wonderful employee -Alex. This is our go to place for tuxedos over the years and this was by far our best experience! Well done JCP! It was wonderful to be in a department store where an employee, in the suit section ,actually had a measuring tape around his neck ready for a customer! We met Alex, talked about what kind of tuxedo my son was looking for; Slimfit, stretch, short, all the different styles... AND all the different potential waist bands. Alex never lost his enthusiasm helping us and answering our questions, (and helping others at the same time). He put us in the dressing room which looks like it had been destroyed a customer that just walked out but he insisted on cleaning it up....for us. He came back several times and asked about the fit if there's anything else we needed, we changed a few things but I noticed while he waited on us to decide he cleaned up and organized the outside the dressing room. I was just so impressed and so was my son that I had to write a review as soon as I got home! Customer service is everything to me. My son even commented "I see now why customer service means so much to you... It really does matter" (and he is 21 - same as Alex)! Again - kudos to JCPenney's for having such a great employee... I went to this JCPenney after ordering a ring online for my spouse. Unfortunately it was slightly smaller then he was comfortable with, so I went to exchange it. My experience at the jewelry counter was one of the WORST shopping experiences of my life. First the jewelry counter woman, ( overweight, older middle age white woman) was rude and condescending. She said the package didn't have a tag on it and she would need to look it up, as she huffed and puffed from having to do additional work because of her extra weight ( which likely come from her laziness). When she finally found the ring's tag and a larger ring to exchange, she said because the price was so different on my receipt and the current price, she couldn't exchange it, she would need to call a supervisor. I was confused because the receipt said I could exchange it within 30 days, plus I had all of the shipping info, email confirmation, and package, so I thought it would be no problem to exchange. But, no....... it was a problem...... The supervisor with the name Ingrid on her badge had an even worst attitude then the jewelry counter rep. I tried to explain to her what happened, and she raised hand to my face and said to me "can you be quiet, because I am talking to her (the jewelry counter rep". I was shocked, that a so-called supervisor would speak this way to a customer. I asked her what her name was, and she said "Ingrid". She was a short middle age, medium brown Hispanic woman. She said that I would need to return it online because I bought the ring on sale for $50 and the current price was over $150. HUH???? That is not the return policy on the receipt. Just because I got a good deal does not void my ability to exchange because you arbitrarily want to change the rules, because this is the only power you will have in life, because you are incompetent and miserable and want others to be miserable too. It is not my fault that life has not treated you kindly and you thought you could talk down to me because others are treating you with contempt and disrespect (that I don't blame them because you attitude is so venomous). All I wanted to do was to exchange a ring. I told Ingrid, I needed to speak to a manager. She went to the back to get a manager. After waiting for 15 minutes, what do you know. The manager said that the exchange was valid. I am glad someone working there has sense. Please get rid of your employees with bad attitudes because I have not stepped foot in this store since this unpleasant encounter. I will say if you are looking for good customer service, please visit the Macy's in this mall. I had to exchange a foundation shade that I bought online that was the wrong color. The customer service was fantastic. I was greeted with a smile, and treat with respect. Everyone in the store was pleasant and you can tell that the HR at Macy's screens the employees they hire, and focuses on customer service. This is in stark contrast to JCPenney at the mall of GA that seems to hire anyone and promote them to supervisor, when they are not supervisor material, especially the dreadful ones I encountered on my visit. read more

This review is specifically for the portrait studio. We took family photos here in November 2017. My review is 2 years late, but because JCP has been calling and emailing about scheduling a 2019 holiday photo session, It reminded me that I never wrote a review. I remember the studio was jam packed. I believe it was by appointment only, which means they overbooked themselves big time. Not enough seating. We had to stand for nearly 2 hours with a fussy 3 month old. We finally got a room with our assigned photographer. This girl could not have been over 20 years old. I don't think she was even a trained photog. Just a girl with a fancy camera. She seemed very inexperienced. And she rushed through our session. She was totally frazzled and didn't seem to handle the busy crowd too well. We did the shoot. Looked at the pics. I wasn't crazy about them, but I also didn't want to go through this experience all over again with a newborn, so we bought a package. I DID NOT purchase the digital photos which I believe were $99. Yes, one hundred bucks for an email with pictures attached. But about 20 minutes after we left, what did I get? An email with all of my photos. They did not charge me for this. Looking at the photos again, I was not happy. There was insufficient lighting in some. Some of our poses were awkward. Just overall not good and certainly not worth the $200 I had just paid. So I called and told a manager about my complaints. She reviewed the pics and agreed. I was told to come back in when the pictures arrived for a full refund. I did. Of course the person at the front desk had no idea what I was talking about, so we had to go through a whole ordeal of calling the manager on her day off to straighten things out. It took about an hour but I got my refund. My family will never spend a dime here again. read more

We came into the hair cut spot and as we approached, the staff was standing behind the counter on their phones. Took a minute or two before they even noticed we were there. We wanted to get a haircut for our son and there was a definite concern from the staff. They asked his age and when we told them that he is 16 months they asked if he was ok when it came to hair cuts. They said that if he cried that they would have to stop because it would ruin the 'ambiance' of the "salon". Haha #1, there was no one there and #2 I took my business somewhere it was appreciated and to a real SALON, not a department store. Sorry staff and location for a hair cut, would not recommend. read more

To be honest, I've probably only shopped at a total of three JCPenney stores in my life. When I think of shopping, it definitely isn't the first department store that comes to mind. However, the main reason why I had frequented this particular JCPenney is its location right by a covered parking lot. It's super difficult to find a parking spot here, but it's SO worth it on super hot or rainy days. As previously mentioned, I haven't been to many other JCP stores, so I can't really say whether it's better or worse than any other. What I can and will say is that this JCP is usually clean and well-organized, even on busy days. Aside from its awesome location by the covered parking lot, this JCP is great because it offers the following services: - Optical - Portrait Studio - Salon Best of all, they have their very own Sephora in the store! Although there is a full Sephora store in the Mall of Georgia, this one is more conveniently located. Sweet! Additionally, the employees at the JCP Sephora have always been super friendly to me and my sisters. =) I rarely buy clothes at JCP, mainly because I'm hopelessly devoted to Macy's, but I do recall finding a reasonably-priced, decent-quality cocktail dress for a holiday party. JCP clothing and merchandise is generally lower quality than more "upscale" department stores, but I guess (for the most part) their prices reflect this. Overall, this JCPenney gets 4 stars for its great location, clean/organized store environment, decent merchandise/clothing, and mini Sephora store. If you're passing through, you may find something you like among the random gift items scattered throughout the store. I was beyond patient with this company! Out of four items ordered on 11/27/20 I received two. It took about eight days on those two. That I'm fine with. I called to rectify, and learned the company didn't charge the full amount (funds were certainly available) for my items and were holding one of my items the other missing item was allegedly delivered. I never received it. I requested to get a replacement and was told by a rep name Jennifer that I could only receive a refund. On 12/18/20 I received an email stating my remaining item was shipped then I checked with the tracking info provided and learned there item was marked delivered on 12/10/20. I don't understand how that's possible unless it traveled back in time and I still haven't received it and it's 12/25/20. read more

So I made an order back in January. They told me to be ready in the beginning of February. Mind you I understand covid is not helping shipping however they deleted and lost my order. I had to call and straighten out a few times (since I did pay) and the staff was very rude. They had to reorder and had just gotten my products in. They called me today and told me to pick it up. So I came to the store to only find out it's not there yet so then why would they call me??? They then proceeded to tell me to just come back but after everything I am thoroughly annoyed. Supposedly this is a business place and all I am seeing is misconducts of business. I may be only one customer and they don't care if I come back because I'm sure they'll be fine without me, however without customers there wouldn't be a business. JCPennys should learn how to treat the customers correctly. There was no apologies just that I was asking way too much and attitudes towards me. I would think of myself as an understanding person and I do not write reviews often however I am never ordering anything from JCPenney's again and I wouldn't recommend it. They have awful customer service and do not care about the customers. They sell my same shampoo and conditioner at Macy's so I guess yay to Macy's today. My sister and I were in the Mall of Georgia location yesterday (2/1) in search of one specific item. We were actually able to find what we were looking for pretty quickly, and we found it for a great price. I would say we had a pleasant experience in the store until we got to the cash register. As soon as I put the item down on the counter, the cashier asked, "Will this be on your JCPenney card?" I replied no, that it would just be on my debit card. Then she asked me if I would like to apply for a JCP card. I politely declined. She responded to that by saying, "It's a short application. I can help you fill it out." Again, I politely declined, as I'm not looking to open ANY credit cards at this time. She then proceeds to tell me that I would still save money on my purchase even if my application was not approved. I told her no for a third time, and she finally told me my total and allowed me to insert my card into the chip reader. Even as my card was entered and my transaction was being processed, She told me, "See, you could save an additional $20 if you would apply for a credit card." Once again, I declined the offer. Even after all this, this lady had the audacity to ask me if I was sure I didn't want to apply. That's FIVE times I had to tell her no for her to leave me alone. But it gets better. She then starts asking my sister if she wants to apply for a card; she wasn't even making a purchase! My sister had to decline twice before this lady left her alone. Between my sister and I, we had to decline a credit card offer SEVEN TIMES before she finally stopped hounding us about it. I get it... I used to work retail and I understand that sales associates are pressured to get customers to sign up for these things. However, I should not have to say 'No' more than once, twice at the most. Five times is a bit obnoxious, and frankly, unacceptable. And then to ask the person not even making the purchase to sign up is over the top. My sister and I both left the store feeling irritated, which is a shame because we actually got a great deal on our purchase. Even with that being said,if this is how all associates are being trained behind the register now, you best believe I will avoid JCPenney at all costs from now on. WORTH CONSIDERATION I generally don't shop at JC Penney, (except for the ladies button up shirts in beautiful, bold colors). but I really like coming into this store. It is larger than the other locations in the area so you just have more options and greater selections. It is really easy to get what you need and get out without having to stand in long lines. I really appreciate the men's department because they don't just carry the standard JC Penney brand items, but they also carry better brands like Joseph Abboud. I have found store brands, (men's and misses), to be of poor quality, shrinking when washed and just not wearing well at all. This is the only location where I am able to get quality items for my spouse and son. Don't forget to explore the housewares and bedding departments as they do have great holiday sale and some nice bedding selections, (I prefer all cotton, coordinated pieces and lots of fluff). The bedding can be very overpriced but very affordable when they have a really good sale. read more

My engagement ring was purchased through another JC Penney branch but our Care Plan for it allowed me to take any concerns regarding the ring to any location. I live closest to the Mall of Georgia location. When I arrive, I made sure to have the paperwork for the insurance on the ring with me. When I get to the Jewelry counter, I was hoping to find the man that I spoke to on the phone regarding a repair that my ring needed. I was met with a woman who was with other customers. I waited patiently to be seen or greeted and when I finally was she said "What do you need?". For real? This is how we start? So, immediately I am not digging her. I told her the situation and the she said : "Oh, I can't help you right now, let me finish this sale, and ill be right with you." Some time passes and she comes to greet me again with the same amount of enthusiasm. I said that I was there to get my ring sent off to the Asurion care plan and that I had the corresponding information with me. She takes a look for a second and then says : "There is no barcode, I cannot look anything up with out it". .....OK However, they had my contract right there with all the numbers needed to look it up. She starts typing and asking when the purchase date was. I didn't know because this was purchased for me. She keeps going on and on about this barcode that I clearly didn't have. I gave her suggestions. I work in customer service for a high end store, so when something happens, I go above and beyond to at least say I tried to find a solution. She did nothing except grab more people to tell me the same thing. I even asked while I was waiting to see the wedding bands because I wanted to see if i could find one for my fiance and myself for our wedding in 4 months. Her response was to not even look at me, she just waved her hands and said "Over there". Again, For real?? I am actually STILL trying to buy something! After being there for some time, they told me there was nothing they could do...baffling since my much needed information to look it up any other way was on the CONTRACT. Frustrated I left, I looked at my contract and pulled the number for the repair company. They took care of me and even though they needed to go through the store , they opted not to because of my experience. I was able to send the ring to the company. What happens? UPS lost my engagement ring. I am devastated. Even through an indirect way, this is the Jewelry departments fault because they had the means to help me. They were just too lazy and unpleasant to help. I called this morning and gave her a piece of my mind. For real. Step up your Customer Service game. From the moment we met, I knew she had no interest in helping me. I do not employ people like that at my job. I would be more than happy to discuss this further with her boss. read more

I'm so disappointed in the decline in this JCPenney's store. I avoid shopping there now after several horrible experiences lately. The racks are very disorganized and the lines for checking out are ridiculous. It doesn't seem to matter if it is a weekday or weekend, the crowds and lack of customer service are awful. Not to mention the dirty dressing rooms. There are only 2 registers on each floor and the lines are always 10+people deep and move slow. The only thing going for this store are the reasonable prices, but the hassle of this store is not worth the prices to me anymore. Sorry Penneys, but I will not shop with you anymore. Went in there only to use my rewards. The lady said oh yea i put your rewards on there. No where on receipt did it say that. Went to another cashier who tried to help and ended up returning somethin and giving me $10 back on my card. Went back later for my bf to find a shirt. And a diff cashier said oh yea they changed the rewards so they dont pop up. We have to look them up. Ill look it up for you. Yea u have one. I just ordered over $6200 in appliances from JC Penny, and what a joke! I don't know why anyone would ever buy from them. We worked with an associate in store (at the Mall of Georgia in Buford) and purchased 6 major appliances this past Saturday and were told by both the associate and by looking online that all were in stock. We were given a delivery date of January 3rd. Never got a phone call today to give us a delivery time for tomorrow, so my husband called and found out that ALL GE appliances are back-ordered and the earliest delivery date would be January 22nd. This is COMPLETELY unacceptable. We only went with GE because they were all in stock and never would've gone with these had we known it would take this long. We have a new house with no appliances and now won't be able to cook for at least 3 weeks with a young child, not to mention the delay this is putting on the kitchen renovation, as counters can't be measured without the cooktop in place. I am very disappointed in the lies we were told, and that when speaking to someone on the phone, absolutely nothing was done to try and rectify the situation. We will make sure to spread the word that buyers beware so that they do not have to go through the same thing that we did. EDIT: I was contacted fairly quickly by JCP after contacting them through FB. I will re-evaluate after seeing if any of my issues are resolved. read more

Ordered a sofa from J C Penney in July, delivered on September 4, called customer service on September 6th, the fabric where I sat for two days was discolored and would not brush out. I called customer service three times and only received a call back when I posted a photo on the J C Penney Facebook page. I was informed that since the sofa was special order the fabric had to be inspected by a separate company and declared defective before the sofa could be returned. An appointment was set for 10/02/15. The company called at 4:50 on 10/02/15, cancelled and reset an appointment for 10/13/15. In the meantime the fabric has begun to wrinkle and the discolorations have grown. This sofa is terrible, do not buy the Top Hat material. I am so disappointed in J C Penney. read more

This place is horrible. Why is the manager of fine jewelry ok with only 1 cashier working while 5 laugh and talk with him. This poor girl has a line around the corner by herself. He explained they only ring fine jewelry. I'm like but there is no one buying fine jewelry. I thought it was all about the customer but I guess I'm wrong there. Tomorrow is Black Friday. After purchasing clothes at jcp.com for my 10 y/o, we had to venture to JCP store to do exchanges for different sizes. The cashier Elizabeth was helpful during the process of retuning my items. At first she was going to return the items back to the cc they were purchased on, until I informed her that the items were a gift purchased on a cc I didn't have. She was not aware of how to return the items to a gift card, so she had to seek help from a manager. The manager came, walked her thru the process and left. I was then ready to repurchase items for my daughter in the correct sizes. While in the Junior's dept, I was greeted by a young lady who assisted me with picking item outs. We spent maybe an hour or two in the store as my daughter loves to shop but hates to try things on. With all my kids in tow (10, 6 & 10mths) she was very patient as I decided on what would fit my daughter. In the end we ended up getting 2 pairs of jeans, 2 shirts, a cute scarf and belt. With money left over on the gc I picked up an outfit for my 6y/o. I also saved 15% off my purchases with a scratch off discount card given to me at the register. I love to shop at JCP when there's a good selection of clothes. Next up, Christmas shopping.... read more
