I naught a shirt from here and it was found to be dirty in some areas and one size too big. I tried to return this item and just swap it out for a new one. When I had lost my receipt and they looked it up on my card number they had said it was not purchased there. When I know this is the only JC penny I have around me. It's a scam because they are going under. I would help them go under and not shop here!!! All I wanted was to replace this item not even the money back. Not what I remember I hadn't been to a JC Penney store in a very long time and thought I would stop by as I needed a few T shirts. This store is very large, clean, and the staff are helpful; however, I think the stores are really over price for what they are selling. If you can find items on sale that's great and you'll get a fair price however most of the items I found were kind of overpriced and you can find the same items at different stores at much lower cost. It's still a nice store, but not the JC Penny. I remember that offered great savings. read more

Never been here. First time to pick up an online order. I'll see how it goes. So far, their store hours are horrible. What business opens so late? 11:00am! People have to get on with their day and opening so late is very inconvenient. Update after visiting store: curbside pick up couldn't "find my order", that was a bummer! I walked in and asked about it, the gentleman who helped me out seemed to be the manager. He was in the middle of something with an associate, but stopped what he was doing to help me immediately and actually took me back and gave me my order. I was very pleased with his help! As a 20 year JC Penney shopper, it's makes me really sad to see what has happened to them in the last few years. I have repeatedly come to the Goodyear Store on McDowell and left my cart full of clothing out of sheer frustration. So today, I am again in the never ending queue because as usual, they are short staffed, but with a line wrapped around to the back of the store. There was a time you could at least purchase at a different register in shoes for example (if you were purchasing shoes). Now I am told they moved all of the departmental registers to the.com section; which is only for people who ordered online and are doing a pick up. Although the clothing quality is still good, the store is a huge mess. It looks like a swap meet in there on most days because they do not have adequate staffing to keep it merchandised. The few staff members you can find on the floor are absolutely run off their feet... as are their cashiers. The staff themselves are the ONLY reason I ever bother to put myself through the chaos. They really do try hard and are always very polite and helpful; when you can't find someone. read more

Don't ever try to return a item without your receipt! The credit card you used is useless. Their statement we receive in the mail also useless. In the end they just pick your pock and refund your item at 10 cents on the dollar. I had the manager hep me with this on my last visit to JC Penny. Good luck if you order anything online and have it shipped to this store. We ordered a backpack and was told we'd have the backpack in 4-7 days. The next day we got notification that the item shipped but not to come to the store because the store would call us once it arrived. 17 days later we have heard nothing. I called the online customer service and was told that their records reflected that it arrived at the store over a week ago. I called the store and was told "oh yeah our system was down." For over a week?! Probably not. How about instead of excuses, you apologize for the inconvenience and compensate us for not delivering on time and making me call you to find out where my order is. These box stores complain that Amazon is putting them out of business. Well maybe if you had the inventory, turn around time and customer service of Amazon, you wouldn't be so threatened by them. read more

The staff was nice but seemed really stressed and rushed. By the time I got to the cashier myself she was fine and relaxed. It was just the commotion I could hear while shopping that seemed crazy. I almost didn't continue because it seemed like it would take forever to get through the line. The selection is better than I find at Ross or Target and alike stores but here's where they lose major points: I can never tell how much anything is!!! I don't have a lot of money to spend on clothes but I do eventually have no choice. I refuse to pay $40 or more on a top. That's ridiculous but the sale signs make it seem doable. However, I find a top, see the tag (let's say $48) then look at the chart on the rack. It'll say, "if the tag is $37 it's on sale for $19, if the tag says $42 it's now $30, etc.) But so many times the price on the tag is not listed on the chart so I have no freaking idea how much it really is. Instead of making everything up and having "sales" that you really want to sell it for, just put the price on the freaking tag!!! Or have everything in the right spot. I can't come here and count on sticking to my budget and I don't have time to waste checking tag then sign and looking for the right sign only to possibly look like an idiot holding up the line because I have to put stuff back I thought was $12 but was really $50. I'll be going elsewhere in the future. It's not worth the stress. read more

My wife and I went to J. C. Penney looking for a hat for me. We got up to the register, thinking we would get my hat for half off, as the sign above the hat rack indicated. The woman at the register said it was full price, and not on sale. My wife said she saw that the sign was for half price, right over the hats. The checkout person called down to the store to see if it really was, and was told that the sign was for sweaters, not hats. I told her the sign was over a rack containing hats and only hats. I had her come back with me to look, and I saw sign that was over the hats but said sweaters. I told her it didn't make sense that a sign for sweaters was over a rack with just hats, and that we had spent 15 minutes going over the hats and that we didn't expect to have to read the fine print on sale signs in a store. But she didn't apologize, or even listen to my point, and just kept repeating that the sale was on sweaters, not hats. I was very disappointed in their service, to say the least, because we wasted quite a bit of time there. read more

I used to shop at this store quite often I haven't been for a while so I thought I would look for some clothing there. What a disappointment. when I first walked in I noticed there were no carts I was one of the first ones in the door. The cashier said there weren't any but if I wanted to walk down to the other side of the store they may have some there, not very good customer service but I stated "no, I just won't shop much" to which she said "I'm sorry" while looking around the store was such a mess, keep in mind they had just opened, there was clothing on the floor and clothing thrown all of the racks to where you had to move the clothing to look the clothing on the racks. i just walked out Goodwill is kept up better than this store was read more

I don't even want to give this JCP store in Goodyear, AZ 1 star!! It is by far the worst looking JCP store I've ever been in. My husband worked for the company for 38 years & we retired in AZ. The Goodyear store is the closest to us. I used shop in JCP all of the time, no more!I've been in lots of JCP stores, as we've moved 6 times & my husband used to be a secret shopper in the stores. It doesn't seem like this store is ever recovered at all, what does this store manager do?!! He certainly doesn't manage his store or motivate his people to make this store look the way it should. Absolutely Worst Store Ever. I arrived right when they opened at 9AM, nobody was around anywhere. If you try to find someone the only clue that they work there, is they have a black covid face mask on and their looking away from you as a way to avoid not help. I used the restroom and it was a mess, it appeared not to be cleaned in days and had no toilet paper. When I walked out, I reported it to a lady worker who said, "we have a house keeping issue" and walked away. Any other place would have walked toward the restroom and advised, "thank you I'll look into it". Need I say again, THEY JUST OPENED, the restrooms should be cleaned at store opening. They have more issues then HOUSEKEEPING. I went to check out and no cashier anywhere, ARE YOU KIDDING ME I'm right by the front doors and 4 or 6 Cash Registers the week before Christmas and not a single person around. I tried calling the store to get someone to come up and got voice mail. OMG! I left and went to Kohls. So much better. JCP if your reading your parking lot was empty, Kohls lot was full. Kohls has 2-3 people at the front door GREETING people and HELP all over the place. I got greeted several times and bought so much while there. JCP, just wanted to leave your store quick. Zonia is a talent, compassionate stylist. I've been going to her for years and have never had a bad experience. I went to get extensions from another stylist,she graciously removed them because the other stylist left my hair a mess. She was kind enough to get me in to remove the extensions. She was so kind and understanding, removing extensions is not an easy task but she agreed to get me in the same day, she could tell I was upset. I'm so grateful for her removing them and be kind and compassionate . If you're looking for a top notch stylist with a heart of gold, Zonia is your girl. Being bigger muscled guy I need a Big and Tall section and they do have one but be prepared to be limited with selection. They have bigger items that fit in the shoulders but unfortunately they seem to all be sold in tall as well as big. I was able to find a XXXL sweater that was not to long though and it was a good price. read more

I just stopped in to by some new sheets. Found a cute ring as well. At checkout they asked if I wanted to apply for a credit card. If approved 45 percent off for the next 24 hours. I said sure there's some speakers I was looking at. Got approved then everything seemed to be excluded. Long story short told them to cancel the card I just applied for and they could keep there merchandise. Sad I left there a few months back because things don't ring up what they advertise. For a Jc Penny this place is clean and nice. The staff seems friendly. The all star is definitely Vanessa, she was in the women's fitting rooms today and went above and beyond to accommodate my wife who happens to be in a wheel chair. This comes to show that there are still some truly amazing people out there! I recently went to the Sephora inside this JCPenney and Candace here was such a great help. She not only made the return process easy (I bought a NARS foundation that I ended up hating) but she also got out of the register to help match me and grab a sample of a new foundation, mind you there was only 2 employees working that Sephora and a lot of customers! You can't even walk into this place, it's so dirty and things are thrown all over the place. When I overheard an associate talk to another associate about the store they said well it's a never ending battle and why clean up. Totally not the attitude to have about the place you work.
