Overall the experience was okay. went shopping for a suit then went into the beauty shop to look for a new foundation. At first the associate asked if she could help. i don't wear foundation often so i thought id ask if she recommended anything. the foundation she recommended. we sat down and tried it on my skin, the product that she put on my face caused my skin to break out. she then proceeded to bring more products over trying to upsell me, in the beginning it was fine but she continued to give me compliments as if trying to get me to buy more products. i told her i need to check pricing to see if it was in budget. then she continued to show different products. i chose to just get a skincare product that she recommended which works great! when we got to the register she said that because i am over 18 she could give me 35% off without explaining that i would be signing up for a credit card. Which was very discouraging that she wouldn't explain and would degrade me for not wanting to "save" money. Love the store but that was extremely frustrating. read more

Stopped in for the first time in a couple of decades yesterday to look for some casual dress shirts and jeans. During my 30 minutes in store, I never saw an associate on the floor. The selection of short sleeve button ups was greatly lacking, yet signs everywhere urging you to go online to shop. If I wanted to buy online, I'd have stayed at home, I want to try on my clothes before paying. I did find a selection of jeans that were $50 marked down to $34.99. I checked to make sure the sign matched the brand and style of jeans that I had selected and finally found the un-marked dressing rooms. Perfect fit. At the register the jeans rang up for $50; when I told the clerk that the sign said different, she just shrugged and said"sorry". Well so am I, I'm sorry you had to restock the jeans and I'm sorry that I wasted my time in your store...it won't happen again. read more

I love their sales and this location is big, clean, and some nice staff to help you out if you aren't sure what you are looking for. I always find a good deal here rather it is clothing, accessories, kitchen appliance, suitcases, shoes, and the list can go on and on. If you are a rewards member, you can save extra as it tracks your points and you can get $10 off rewards once you met your criteria. They have plenty of brand names and bonus, there's a Sephora here for my make up gals pals. Always check their ads you can save even more. read more

Pretty standard JCP store. The constant stream of advertising and 'sales' sometimes bring me in for a door-buster item or two, but this is typically not my go to for shopping. The benefit of this location though is that is does have a Sephora on site, so makeup and beauty products are easy to come by. They have been expanding their designer/contemporary line of clothes, so they do have cute offerings each season (but I rarely shop there without a coupon in hand). The staff is always friendly and willing to help find sizes etc. read more

The last time I went to a JCPenney was back in California. I don't see too many of them out there but they still exist. I went here to buy new dress shoes and decided to change up the scenery. This was the only place that existed in the lot. There was plenty of parking and it wasn't crowded when I went. The first thing I noticed when I entered was the women's sections. They were at the entrance and the men's sections were in the back. The shoes section was on the right side of the building while the bed stuff was in the back right. There were only a handful of dress shoes to choose from so they might not have what you are looking for. The person who helped me was nice and brought out the shoes I wanted to try on pretty quick. I'll probably be back if I need to buy any dress shirts or any other clothes. read more

After the experience I had today, I'll never step foot in that store again. "Tina" (fake name tag, because she forgot hers at home, so grabbed any name tag in the office) was extremely rude to me when I asked a question to ANOTHER cashier, (she wasnt even my cashier) she was derogatory towards me with a hateful attitude. I called the store manager after I left,( this is how I found out her name wasnt Tina ) sheila didnt seemed to concerned about the experience i had just had, so I'll be placing a call to corporate Monday. Spent 30 minutes or more looking for someone to help me in the store. Trying to buy a pair of shoes at this store; they are on sale. Met all terms of the "sale" but they still charged me for the non-sale-price. Took a "manager" there and showed them signs. . . Yep I was right and they admitted it. . . They didn't "fix" the register to charge the right price. . . I guess they just want to rip off customers. Ended up not buying the merchandise. I bet this store closes soon. . . Why shop there when they won't honor their own sales prices that are marked in the store. Can't find assistance, because the store has no clerks. Maybe they will stop jacking up their prices and honor their own "sale prices" marked in the store. This wouldn't happen if they stopped using "sales" as a BS gimmick. Surprised this store has 2 + stars. My wife and I went there today to look for a pair of women's slippers. She found a pair of Kansas City Chiefs slippers that she liked, but balked at the $40.00 price. I then noticed the placard on the on the display that featured these slippers stated 40% off. The placard on the display also showed the discounted price as $24.00. My wife figured that was a decent price and we took them to the checkout counter. The cashier scanned the UPC code and announced the price as $32.00. I told the cashier that the slippers were 40% off. She said that was why they were $32.00. I said that is not 40% off. She said that is what they rang up as. It could have been an honest mistake or it might not have been, but we did not have the patience to find out. We left without buying the slippers. One thing I am sure of, I won't go back. read more

This store is clean, well laid out and has a large variety of JC Penney's inventory available. Keep in mind, JC Penney's is still a catalog store, a lot of Penney's merchandise isn't available in certain stores. The clothing lines are what you'd expect at a Penney's: Levi's, Nike, Adidas, all the standards at higher than retail prices that are reduced to reasonable with in-store sales. Ugh, it seems that's the accepted model. Where this story goes off the rails is when JC Penney exposed a weakness, or a couple. I ordered a flatware set. I'm not ready to buy a lifetime set at $50 or more a setting so I wanted something of reasonably good quality to get me by. I looked and wasn't impressed with anything I saw so during the holiday sales, I ordered a set from Penney's online. Regular price was almost $100, so I figured the $60 I was paying would be a good deal. Yes, I waited until the last minute so after 5 days of using disposable forks and spoons, my delivery arrived. Clearly what was in the Penny's package was not flatware but irresistible curiosity made me open it. It was a rug. Ok, I drove up to this Penney's and explained. So, you'd like to return the rug? Uhm, I didn't order it. I just want to give it back and get my flatware. So, you want a refund? I didn't buy it. Eventually I was credited for the flatware I paid for so I could return the rug I didn't. The sale had ended and they had to do some creative ordering to compensate - but they did - points for doing the right thing. 5 more days of plastic flatware later and my kids and I rejoiced when a flat sturdy box arrived from Penney's But then we opened it. Super cheap stamped stainless steel cut in the shape of knives, forks and spoons. How cheap, you ask? Bendable cheap. So, unfortunately, an icon of American retail gets a 2. It's sad really. I could have bought a $30 set at target, avoided 10 days of plastic and possibly got a better quality set. And so it goes for many of the items I've spotted at Penney's. So-so quality at higher than average prices. If you see it in the store, and you can feel it, and you like it, buy it. But be careful with making assumptions about the quality of items you can't touch. Sure, I could have returned my flatware but after the trouble, I decided to cut my losses and move on. That should not be the sentence any business hopes a reviewer will end a review with. read more

I hate to give this J.C. Penney a 2-Star as I only shopped in the men's department, but I walked through several departments to get there. Based on what I saw at the Shoal Creek and Tiffany Springs stores, I am shocked with the mess of displays. I know customers make the mess, but it is the stores responsibility to get it straightened up for the next customer. We have always been JCP customers since the '60's, but this is no way to open up and entice customers to come in. The pictures speak for them selves. I was in the store for at least 45-60 minutes and could not find anything that appealed to me. The whole time I only saw one employee on the floor in 3-4 departments. For a company on the verge of bankruptcy, or are by now, they will not survive. To me these problems reflect poor management at the store level and above. When we left there was a line waiting for checkout about 75' long. Come on JCP what are you doing to survive. I tried to do my shopping on line with JCP and they out of everything I wanted as well. read more

Bad experience - again. Clothing in disarray and dressing rooms closed. No floor personnel to direct me. Frustrated, I put everything back and left this branch. I do try to shop local, but will head up to the Oak Park Mall in Overland Park, KS. This has been my experience for several years. Professional store management is seriously lacking. read more

If it was possible to give negative stars, that's what this review would show. Extremely terrible service. Service is the keyword here. I was waiting for just shy of one hour and never received any help. So I took it upon myself to try and get something to work. I go into the dressing rooms and they are full of clothes that people have tried on and left there. As I left I made sure to walk by several staff members to see if they would ask if I needed anything. If your guess is they did not you would be correct. Ridiculous!!!!!! read more

Long time customer of JC Penny. Had two orders on .com. The 800 number for customer service offered no solutions to problems I was having in receiving each order for in store pick up. Linda and Heather at the customer pick up counter were very helpful. I want to thank them both for their excellent customer service. I am very upset with JC Penneys because I ordered a pressure cooker for my daughter online and it was shipped. But, they made an error and shipped two of them. When my daughter got them she called me. I called JC Penneys to let them know and they informed me they had reimbursed me for the one. There was no mention of me returning the other cooker. I was under the impression since it was their error that we could keep the error. Two weeks later I discovered they had gone back in and charged me. read more
