Amazing hotdog! I know it's probably silly to go to Costco for just a hotdog but it's $1.50 with a drink! Amazing value. I love that they have the chopped onions and all of the other condiments like relish and mustard. I miss the spicy mustard but I get it. Gotta keep costs down. They are fast and their service is impressive, although they've might be a little stressed because I didn't see any smiles but that's not Costco's fault. They have a large selection of other stuff at the food court but I think the best deal is the hotdog. Great work! read more

Tires, Tires, Oh My. I wanted to switch my tires from Spring/Summer tires to All Season tires. I went to the Michelin All Season 4S tires. after the instant $ 80 rebate they were $ 50 less than Tirerack online. Plus I now have national road hazard warranty and a 45,000 mile mileage warranty. Ordering online would, you'd still have to find a place to mount and balance them, plus and road hazard is a pain to claim. Floyd was very helpful and took care of special ordering my tires. The car is a sports car, so it would not fit on their racks to lift the car. That didn't stop them, they used a floor jack and did them one at a time, they went the extra mile and did the extra work. I love this Costco! We moved to Lee's Summit on Easter and hoped we'd have a nice Costco nearby, as we had a brand new one in Henderson NV where we moved from. I thought that one would be hard to beat. This location is even better! I have been able to upgrade my T-Mobile phone and service here. No activation or line fee for Costco customers. You have to pay that in their stores or even online, so that will save you $35 or $70 depending on your plan. I also love the HUGE selection of meat here!! We are certainly in BBQ country!! The packer brisket and pork butts alone make it worth the trip. Also, after being Costco customers for years, we finally tried the rotisserie chicken. OMG! Outside of my own smoked chicken and Stroud's it's the best I've ever had!! Moist, tender and delicious. HUGE birds for $5! No hormones or antibiotics either. I'm so impressed. Great sales, Chiefs items and apparel, great prices on food and household goods plus services. What's not to love? Oh, every staff member I've spoken to here has been just excellent. Costco takes care of their people first and you can tell they are happy. I am a Costco customer for life. I may try other locations in the metro area, but Independence is amazing! read more

My wife and I used to go here all the time. The card has her name on it. My wife is in the hospital, so I left her to go to Costco and get a hot dog for lunch. The guy at the front door wouldn't let me in despite me telling him that my wife was in the hospital. So I went around and went in the exit door to get my hot dog. Why Costco wants to alienate a long time customer, I don't know, but they need to get rid of the guy at the front. They have an electronic scanner. They don't need somebody not focused on customer service. read more

I was impressed by the large selection of artisan cheese and made a new acquisition, while my husband was happy to find cases of local beer for a good price. I'm a Costco junkie. Follow my personal day-to-day, you'll understand the addiction is real. If I can purchase it at Costco, I do. Very pleased with the availability of items - and how budget friendly it is - even for a big-box-store. Ordered a very large order of Hot Dogs, sides, and drinks this past week from the Food Court. Called days in advance and let them know this was a SIGNIFICANT order and the importance of getting it picked up promptly, without delay. As my normal style, I showed up 30 minutes early to picking up my order to let them know I had arrived and would be willing to load up and take the order just as soon as it was ready. A HUGE SHOUT OUT TO ANTHONY AND JEREMY IN THE FOOD COURT. These two guys are over worked and under appreciated. A Food Court line wrapped around to the cash registers. People were rude and demanding, placing large orders. While standing and observing, I saw them fulfill four other very large orders in addition to the ever-growing line of people just randomly ordering. Not to mention, they had my massive order to fulfill. A five-star review would have been absolutely provided... however, this location is lacking good management, on all fronts. Food Court Management, Front End Management, and overall management is failing. Any large store, moving that volume of product / customers should be adequately staffed. This location is POORLY staffed and quite mismanaged. No manager was paying mind that the Food Court staff was suffering and unable to keep up. No one took any action to backfill the Food Court in their moment of need.... this goes without saying the extremely long lines that were unattended due to lack of staffing... making it worse... the few 'managers' on the floor were of course huddled in a corner, ignoring their staffing needs. This would have easily been a 5-star, but management has earned 0/5 stars... I'll go with 4, because I feel all but the management staff need a positive shout-out. Costco corporate should take a look at store management and reevaluate who they have placed in roles of leadership. read more

I admit it. I love Costco. The rewards I earn typically pay for my membership, so it's clear I spend enough here to get value. This review is specific to Costco Optical. My 7 year old wears glasses and I've not found any other place that offers quality, name brand glasses with the extremely lenient warranty as Costco. This instance he managed to break half of his nose pad off. I took them to Costco optical and within 5 minutes, they were good as new. Last year, he managed to snap his glasses in half (sigh). I took them to Costco and they ordered him new frames, no questions asked. I will continue to purchase his glasses because of the service and generous warranty. read more

I'm waiting in line in the self checkout and some rather large man comes and ask me to see my membership card. I asked him why and he says we are trying to cut back on card sharing. I understand that and would have been fine had he asked all the other people in front of me, that was a different color than me. I have been a Costco member for over 20 years, now I know I may look younger than this man, but I'm definitely one of his elders and do not appreciate being asked to show my card if no one else ahead of me was asked. If that is the policy and rule thats fine but make sure you ask everyone. I don't normally come to this location because I live in Houston, but I have alot of friends and family in Missouri, and will be sure to shout from every rooftop my experience at this particular costco in Independence MO. read more

Coming from South Florida to this location just outside Kansas City, Mo they are completely incomparably. Firstly, I noticed a massive selection of beer, wine, & spirits and I felt as though they are pushing the liquor a little too hard for the customers that come and shop here. They see the liquor before they see any meat or any grocery rather. Mind you, the Costco in South Florida has a separate fenced off store in the same building for customers over the age of 21 and able to purchase alcohol. Food selection was poor. They decided to tell me that they are closing at 6:00 pm when it said 7:00 pm on the board. I'm not trying to be picky here but I am comparing my experience between two locations. This is feedback for those who manage Costco if they ever see this. I would love to see Costcos' share equivalence just like the other well known wholesalers and department stores. read more

I still like this Costco. I have figured out their math. It's like this, everything this store sells is over $10. Which makes the items in the cost over $100. No sticker shock for you. I bought Apple AirPods for almost $15 cheaper than Best Buy. Visiting this store many times, almost weekly and if you see something you better buy it then. I buy a lot of gluten free items there. And often there's food samples. I still give it 4stars...ugh still not taking Mastercard. A little inconvenient for us. And a mile long line getting the receipt checked after buying. I love Costco and shop them everywhere I go. This Costco is "my" Costco. It is clean bright well stocked and full of friendly people. We all know about the bargains and the pricing and that is why I started coming to Costco but it was the quality and values that bring me back over and over again. Prime steaks are amazing and I am surprised by just how good their choice steaks are. Very close in quality. My wish for this Costco is that they would increase the selection in the wine and liquor area. If I want a great selection I have to go downtown KC to get the really good stuff. One thing I give this Costco over others (and I think they are all good at this) is this location really stands out with great people. From greeter to wine, meat, vegetables, frozen food, to check out the people are so friendly and helpful. read more

I have to drive two hours west every few month to buy my frozen organic fruits and vegetables here (because my local Sam's is garbage). I also buy some of their products I like that the cruddy Sam's doesn't feel the need to carry (good frozen Chinese food, organic cereals, and much more). Staff is super friendly. They had everything on my list minus the grass-fed patties, which was a bummer. I have used Costco gas in many places across the country in this particular place it was clean and well attended with staff available to help you no matter what type of situation you may need from forgetting your card to trouble at the pump. Costco has lots of things for the consumer to feel good about 1st of all the quality of their gas is excellent especially for the price point and I really need premium and it's anywhere from 10 to 20 cents a gallon less than is in the general market. It's a great value. The quality of their goods are also excellent in the store. Including lots of organic food in the crazy value of their $5 roasted chicken just like a miniature turkey. But most important they pay a livable wage for their average employees including health care and benefits and I always want to support a large port a large retail Box store that does this type of thing. I received a mailer encouraging me to get a Costco card. I am a Sams club member. I decided to go check it out because of the incentives in the advertisement. After arriving I git to counter stated what I wanted. The gentleman offered the executive membership I declined stating I was just testing it out to see if I liked Sams better or not. He insisted. I declined again. Then he proceeded to say that he doesn't even discuss the basic membership anymore because it's useless. There is no true value in it....interesting because why would it be offered if it was useless. He continued to describe the many benefits of the executive membership vs the basic. I again said no thank you. At this point my two children are getting cranky he is still pressing the issue. I'm getting frustrated and was about to just leave! Then finally I say please do what I asked. His entire demeanor changed he seemed upset, cranky, not as friendly, and even irritated. As a first time Costco experience this was horrible! After getting my membership I decided to go walking around to see what I could find. I picked up my incentives we grabbed lunch and we left. The rest of the store was fine. The rest of the customer service was good. I will say I was turned off by the membership process I didn't get to enjoy the store fully. I'm not sure if I will return or not. I walked away feeling like I did something wrong or that I'm not apart of a big elite group with the Executive membership. When did customer sales rep become car salesmen? They must get incentives for the sign ups. The pressure was too much. read more

I tried using the same day delivery out of curiosity and pure laziness. I ordered the night before so it obviously wasn't the same day. I got to pick my time slot, I chose the 11:15. Costco texted me that morning to say my shopping was heading to the store. Again when she was done shopping and on her way. I have to say if your sick or have a broken back or just plain lazy it's totally worth it. I stayed in my pjs and watched Jurassic Park with my ice cream I added the tip on my order which was nice. the best alternative to sams club which we cannot stand trashy parking lot sams does not care about is employees, no healthy food sams people please stay at sams dont ruin costco for us. COSTCO employees are treated great, parking lot actually has trees and bushes not sams. the products are healthy. not over priced, pharmacy is great and the best thing is the gasoline. we went to sams and it ruined our fuel injection system and we received a reimbursement on it. costco gas has never caused problems for us. we do not like the purdue chicken they carry and with both sams and costco once you start liking a product it disappears. constantly evolving. thats a good thing and bad thing. during the holidays we shop both costco warranty is better of course we have given several commendations to employees for excellent service. self check out lanes are really a plus. we really enjoy the atmosphere clean and nice and well stocked. the executive membership american express brings us alot of money each year. i mean ALOT! read more

Costco's Business Plan is one I can happily endorse. They pay decent wages to their employees and treat them with respect and STILL manage to make a profit, even though they sell many good, name brand products for less than you can buy them in other local stores. Customers should still do their 'homework' and be sure that the price is competitive but that is a good habit to practice no matter where you shop. Favorite things to buy include fresh berries, whole roasted coffee beans, milk, eggs and sour dough bread, but we periodically need to stock up on other staples as well. I should mention that the only credit card they will accept is American Express. Here is a Good Rule to Live By: NEVER shop for groceries when you are hungry. Impulse buying can wreck your budget. Today, Hubby and I went out to Costco for a few items we had written on a list in advance. Half way to the store, Hubby said "I'm getting kind of hungry" and I realized that it was an hour after lunchtime and I was hungry too. Rather than turn around and go home, I suggested we get something at the snack bar in the front of the store. We've been members for over a year and a half and never done that before. But I knew that our daughter and her family have eaten there and they are much more picky eaters than Hubby and I are. Hubby got a brisket sandwich. The bun looked very tasty and Hubby said it was a filling sandwich. I wanted to try a Hot Dog and fountain drink for only a $1.50. That dog was juicy and flavorful and not a skimpy size either -- it filled the bun and then some. I requested sauerkraut, which comes in a cup and dressed the dog with chopped onion, pickle relish and deli mustard. It was a great hot dog! Especially when you factor in the cost. And it's almost like Costco is helping their customers live by the Good Rule to never shop for groceries when you are hungry. Thanks Costco! read more

This is not my steady Costco- the one I have a relationship with. This is not my dirty mistress Costco- the one I go to on the side. This is the random stranger Costco- I was in the neighborhood and needed to stop at the liquor store. Almost in unison, my wife and I both said, "oh! we should go to Costco!" This store is like the others. Clean and well organized. The staff are hard working, but still friendly. There are awesome values depending on what you are there for. I picked up a bottle of Tito's for the low-low. I also got a sweet deal on RumChata. There were deals to be had on wine too. Sokol Blosser wines are discounted by a few dollars a bottle here. Just like any other Costco trip, do your best not to impulse buy. On this visit I picked up a giant package of double A batteries. I did steer clear of the Levis for daddy and the dresses for my princess. Yay me! read more

Going to Costco is kind of a recurring nightmare. I avoid it whenever possible. Luckily, this visit (holiday weekend) they had pretty much every check out lane open and seemed to be really ready to get customers in and out in a hurry. Oh I love going here for gas alone! The price difference is dramatic! When most gas stations are at 2.75 a gallon they are below 2.50 a gallon may seem insignificant to some but is a big deal to single mothers like me on a budget. I know that it can be a little wait depending on the time and day because of the price difference but it doesn't seem too bad when I've gone. I've only been able to use a debit card and haven't figured out if there is a way to pay cash or if that's not an option. read more

The warehouse is fine but the tire center is by far the worst Costco tire center I've ever encountered. So far my 2 hour wait is 2.5 hours and I was told to expect another 1.5 hours until my simple tire rotation is finished. I like Costco but don't have much reason to shop here. Buying in bulk for three really isn't cost effective imo, and we don't go through food that quickly.
